Did not expect to win this; not really. I put in a bid and said “what-the-hell.” If I win, I win. If I don’t, I don’t. Never imagine I would win with such a low bid. It just goes to show nothing ventured, nothing gained. I took a chance and the chance paid off—not only on this issue but 4 others as well (#701—#704). I did not win #705, someone else outbid me by a single dollar (their gain, my lost; I wasn’t paying attention to the bidding at the end).
I knew I would buy this storyline. It leads into the “The Mighty Thor: At the Gates of Valhalla, War of the Realms, War of the Realms Omega,” and from there it sends our heroine—“Jane Foster”—spinning off into a new series, “Jane Foster: Valkyrie.”
Marvel outdid themselves with this. The art was fantastic. The story totally incredible and sad…it will be a classic for years to come. Over time, I think the prices for this issue and the others will raise dramatically once “Jane Foster: Valkyrie” has established itself. People will come back looking for Mighty Thor #700—706 as the foundation for the beginning of our Heroine’s new role as the last “Valkyrie.”

Synopsis for Mighty Thor #706:
At the Gates of Valhalla! The battle against the Mangog is finished. And the loses have been profound. So what—if anything—remains of the story of Jane Foster, Goddess of Thunder? And where do the other Gods possibly go from here?

Footnote:
Do not dismiss this issue. This is the issue that brought Jane Foster back from death. This is her resurrection. The beginning in which she ascends into becoming the last Valkyrie in “War of the Realms Omega.”

(These 5 issues #701-704, #706 have each become the cheapest I have bought a CGC 9.8 graded comic. The previous cheapest was “War of the Realms #1 Dauterman Dketch Cover” (#2035828020) at $39.99—a difference of $10.41).
