Owner's Description

The MM12 White Mountain Pedigree copy is my second 9.4. This is the only White Mountain Pedigree I have in Metal Men. Pedigree issues command higher premiums as they tend to be more pristine with vibrant colors and white pages. This is certainly the case when I compared this issue with my OWW 9.4. The White Mountain colors are brighter, especially the yellow the white color areas.

One odd thing about the White Mountain Pedigree is the two digit year was inked next to the issue number or month. I read this is common with this pedigree in namely the Silver and Bronze Age issues. One other thing to notice is in the Comics Code Authority stamp there are black fill in areas in the O of Comic and C and O of Code. Looking at it with a loupe magnifier, it looks like a small inking error. I originally thought someone had taken a pen and filled in those areas, but I don't think it is. In any case, this did not affect the grade. I wish CGC would put more in their grader notes for the fee I paid to get them. For this issue, just some light wear all corners and spine stress were noted.

MM12 shows a return of the villains, the Missile Men, as they appeared in MM 1. In this issue titled "Shake The Stars", the Beatles make an appearance on page 2. Hilarious that Ringo wants the Metal Men to autograph his drum. He also says "Chawnce" instead of Chance, trying to capture the British accent...haha. The scene shows everyone wanting Metal Men autographs, including the Beatles...now that is too darn funny!! Also a one page ad for Silly Putty...loved that stuff!!

One last thing...I found a statement of DC Metal Men ownership and circulation at the bottom of one of the MM 12 pages. It showed an average circulation of 295513 copies distributed for each Metal Men issue in the previous 12 months...very interesting statistic!!
