This cover had no advertising. Yeah! Yet added another new sub-title of "Meets Power Man & Iron Fist" instead of the "The Man Without Fear". The DAREDEVIL title font also back to the prior "normal" size.
There were separate Direct Issues and Newstand variants for issue number 178 and this pattern follows through the entire Daredevil Miller era run. I have been told the numbers of direct edition vs. newstand versions ranged proportionally 60-40 to 70-30 for each type, depending on the issue.
The newstand variants are much rarer in high grade, as they lived their life on a heavily fondled newstand, not in a direct edition mailer. This ratio also varies, with approximately one out of five (some issues one out of 20!) issues being graded 9.8 as the rarer Newstand Variant. Newstand Variants are hard to get.
Newstand variants have the price in a square box next to the issue number at the top of the letter box, the direct editions have the price and issue number in a diamond shape within the letter box.
A 50 cent issue. Probably some UK variants too.

VALUE:
Expect to now pay $100-150 for a basic 9.8WP Copy, easily more if excellent structure and more again if signed. And add a premium for the “Newstand variant”.
This is another nice comic to look at as an investment or for a SS attempt. With the Daredevil Netflix series adding new characters, this may be the choice for a cast SS copy.
I have seen no sketches on any SS copy.

STORY LINE:
Foggy, fearing for Matt's safety, decides that Matt might need some bodyguards and seeks out the services of Heroes for Hire. After meeting with Power Man and Iron Fist, the two heroes agree to take the case.
Elektra Natchios returns to her apartment one night, only to be attacked by a bunch of armed men. She easily defeats them and finds a note from the Kingpin, stating that if she survived the attack she is as capable an assassin as he surmised, and invites her to meet with him. Not ever doing anything the normal way, Elektra breaks into the Kingpin's office tower that night and fights through all his security and makes it to the top. Able to confront the Kingpin on her own, the crime lord is convinced that she will be perfect for the job that he needs her for...
