Label Notes
Jeff Smith story, cover, and art.
Synopsis
Thorn reveals the message from her dead mother to the Dream Master while Phoney and Smiley seek the town's treasure horde. This is the last chapter in the Treasure Hunters story arc.
The Slab
Tied for the highest graded Signature Series book. My raw copy signed by Jeff at the 2014 Emerald City Comic-Con. Thanks to dscott for facilitating! Graded by CGC on March 29, 2014.
Inside The Comic
Thirty two pages of story, zero pages of letters, and zero pages of ads. The inside front cover has a drawing of Thorn staring at the Dream Master from page 5 with the black & white “coloring” reversed. The brief prologue is on the top left and the credits are as follows: Written and Drawn by Jeff Smith, Cover Color by Steve Hamaker. For Cartoon Books: Vijaya Iyer as Publisher and Kathleen Glosan as Production Manager. The back cover has a panel from page 6 with an angry Fone Bone giving the Dream Master a piece of his mind.
Ad
Yet again, there are no Bone-a-Fides in this issue. The thirty-two new story pages is the most in series history, considering that eight of the thirty-seven pages in #38 were a recap that used previous art. The only ad is on the inside back cover and it’s for three separate series from the publisher Alternative Comics: Rubber Necker #2 by Nick Bertozzi, Grickle by Graham Annable, and Fantastic Butterflies by James Kochalka.
Estimated Copies Sold thru Diamond: 15300

Infinite Objects Frame
One of the most fascinating pieces of Bone Stuff came as an optional purchase in the Bone Deluxe Edition Kickstarter campaign. Using the art from the legendary Flipbook by Tom Bancroft, Rafael Rosado, & Jason Piel with color and remastering by Tom Gaadt, this could be the only official animation we ever get of Fone Bone and a rat creature ;-)
The animation itself is pretty smooth. There’s a bit of a slowdown when Fone Bone makes his turn but it doesn’t detract from the overall presentation. The frame turns on immediately once it’s upright and won’t stop until it either runs out of juice or it’s placed back in the box. The package came with a charging cable and an acrylic stand.
Would love to see an Infinite Objects Frame with test footage from any of the multiple Bone projects from Hollywood. A fan can dream…
