Amazing Spider-Man #360 features the 1st appearance of Carnage in cameo!
Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $40.
According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 2,509 Universal copies graded, 649 copies were graded in 9.8 with ONLY 1 copy graded higher in 9.9!
With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of 25.87% of the total population.

After coming into contact with Eddie Brock (Venom) in prison, the psychopathic serial killer Cletus Kasady morphed into the merciless, savage and bloodthirsty alien symbiote known as Carnage!
With that being said, the image below portrays the last five panels of the last page in ASM #360, which documents and depicts Carnage’s 1st appearance coupled with his 1st homicide! His twisted and psychotic nature is clearly evident as he makes his chilling entrance into the Marvel Universe!
Please note that the image does not include the first 3 panels (featured on the top of the original last page), but I have included the complete dialogue (underneath the image) so you can feel the full impact of this powerful scene!
[ASIDE: AT HOME WITH GUNTHER STEIN.]
Gunther Stein: (Walking up the staircase with his lunchbox on his way out to work and Yawns.) Man, this night shifts gonna kill me!
Carnage: (After Gunther walks outside and locks the door.) Gunny Stein?
Gunther Stein: Who wansta know?
Carnage: Wrong answer! (Forces his hand over Gunny’s mouth and neck!)
Gunther Stein: Hmwmf!
Carnage: And after I slaved all day over a hot telephone book, looking for just the right name! (Ejecting tendrils into Gunny’s orifices and squeezing tightly!)
Gunther Stein: HGRRGLL!
Carnage: Yours was REALLY stupid! That’s why I chose you… (Squeezing tighter while Gunny’s breathing becomes severely restricted with blood vessels popping!)
Gunther Stein: HRN…G-HHHK…! (His eyeballs popping out of his sockets and rolling to the back of his head…drops his lunchbox on the ground K-TOK and takes his last breath!)
Carnage: …To be the first victim of…Carnage!

Carnage is the antithesis to Spider-Man’s personal philosophy of “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility!” Instead, the deranged symbiote is purely motivated by sheer destruction and bloodshed, which is clearly evident in the manner in which he randomly selected a name from a phonebook—Gunther Stein, and waited outside of his doorstep to murder him! There is no reasoning with Carnage and he is incapable of showing remorse; like a disease he spreads death to anyone who crosses his path because “Great Power is Great Power” and only the strong will survive!
Moreover, unlike Incredible Hulk #180 in which Wolverine makes his 1st appearance in a single last panel cameo; Carnage’s 1st cameo appearance takes up an entire page! Although Wolverine’s 1st appearance will always be more valuable than Carnage’s 1st appearance, you have to consider that if IH #180 eventually took off and skyrocketed in value as more collectors and investors placed greater demand on acquiring Wolverine’s 1st true appearance in the history of comics…isn’t it more than likely that ASM #360 will also take a similar path?
With this in mind, on October 15, 2021, Carnage will make his official debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with the world premiere of Venom: Let There Be Carnage! Even though high-grade copies of ASM #360 have already been increasing in value, after the movie drops (considering it’s successful), I believe that it will drive greater demand and cause prices to soar to new heights! After all, what other villain can you think of that kicked off a “14-part” comic book crossover—“Maximum Carnage” (January 1, 1993), in just the 10th month of his existence!
Although ASM #360 is not considered rare, as the combined total of Universal 9.6 and 9.8 copies equals more than half the population on the CGC Census, this particular 9.8 copy is exceptional because it is PERFECTLY WRAPPED and CENTERED and contains PERFECT WHITE PAGES!
Furthermore, this is a rare Newsstand Edition, which is indicated by the UPC barcode in place of the Spider-Man Rectangle located on the bottom left-hand corner of the front cover.
In closing, I purchased this pristine beauty from dacardworld (via eBay) in November of 2020! The transaction and communication went extremely well and upon my first glance at this blazer, I knew it would be the perfect candidate to be featured in Arachnophobia!
