Owner's Description

Amazing Spider-Man #208 features the 1st appearance of Lance Bannon & Fusion, the Twin Terror (Hubert & Pinky Fusser)!

Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $20.

According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 383 Universal copies graded, 128 copies were graded in 9.8 with 0 copies graded higher!

With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of 33.42% of the total population.

In this 1980 September issue, we are introduced to the character Lance Bannon, who would become Peter Parker’s competition in taking photographs of Spider-Man for the Daily Bugle. Due to the toxic relationship between J. Jonah Jameson and Spider-Man, Jameson favored Bannon’s photographs over Peter Parker’s because they often portrayed Spider-Man in a negative perspective.

Unfortunately, after Lance Bannon snapped a photo of an unknown individual wearing the highly classified, state-of-the-art body armor known as Full Acclimation Combat And Defence Explo-skeleton (F.A.C.A.D.E.), he was mysteriously murdered before he was able to release the photos to the general public!

Furthermore, ASM #208 also introduced the characters Hubert & Pinky Fusser, who were a pair of identical twins living two totally different lives. For example, although both of them worked for the same research firm; Hubert worked as a scientist while Pinky worked as a janitor. This makes for an interesting character concept, as you don’t typically think of identical twins being so far apart in their overall lifestyles.

While Hubert was operating one of his radiation experiments in the laboratory, something went wrong causing a freak explosion, which sent Hubert running towards his brother Pinky for safety! Once he reached his brother, the two of them strangely merged into one being; creating Fusion, the Twin Terror!

Legendary artists John Romita Jr. & Al Milgrom created an action-packed cover depicting Fusion, the Twin Terror standing in the middle of the George Washington Bridge with clinched fists causing a multicar crash, while Spider-Man swings towards his supercharged opponent from above!

The green Amazing Spider-Man title pops nicely with the green vehicle to the right, and the orange, yellow and white colors of Fusion coordinate well with the advertisement banner, the background of the Spider-Man logo and the gentleman’s shirt who is leaning outside of his car window!

Moreover, if any of these characters are ever introduced in a future Spider-Man film or animated series, this book’s value is going to rise exponentially!

Although ASM #208 is not considered rare, as the combined total of Universal 9.6 and 9.8 copies equals more than half the entire population on the CGC Census, this particular 9.8 copy is exceptional because it is 99.9% PERFECTLY WRAPPED and CENTERED and contains PERFECT WHITE PAGES!

In addition, the staples are perfectly inserted into the spine, the corners are razor sharp and the color saturation is deep and vibrant; as if the book was printed yesterday!

In closing, I won this pristine copy in Comic Link’s Focused Auction in February of 2021! I was ecstatic when I was notified as the winning bidder and I’m proud to showcase this immaculate copy in Arachnophobia!

Happy Collecting & Enjoy the Hunt!
