Amazing Spider-Man #378 features the 1st Carnage Vs. Venom cover!
Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $8.
According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 1,273 Universal copies graded, 636 copies were graded in 9.8 with ONLY 1 copy graded higher in 9.9!
With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of 49.96% of the total population.

THE RAGE OF VENOM! In June of 1993, artists Mark Bagley & Randy Emberlin created one of my favorite early Carnage vs. Venom battle covers within the Amazing Spider-Man title!
As a matter of fact, this is only the 3rd time in which Carnage & Venom are featured on a cover together (since ASM #362-#363) and the 1st time in which they are battling each other! With that being said, ASM #378 can be considered both a classic and an historical issue!
As the cover displays; we see a bold depiction of Carnage slashing his shapeshifted claws towards a raging Venom as he is falling backwards, while clinching his fist in preparation of clobbering Carnage with the force of a speeding Mack Truck! The bright yellow-green exploding background is reminiscent of the cover of ASM #362, which features the 1st time these two killer symbiotes graced a cover together, but this time around…instead of attacking Spider-Man (who is cautiously featured in the background)…they are now fighting each other in a death match!
Furthermore, Venom’s evolution from villain to antihero has taken deep roots amongst avid readers, which in turn, has increased Venom’s fan base throughout mainstream pop culture. With the success of Venom (2018) and the highly anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which is scheduled to premiere on October 15, 2021, demand for Venom’s earliest cover appearances will only continue to rise to new heights!
Although ASM #378 is far from being rare, as there are more 9.8 copies on the CGC Census than all of the other grades combined, this particular 9.8 copy is exceptional because it is NEAR PERFECTLY WRAPPED and CENTERED and contains PERFECT WHITE PAGES! In addition, the staple placement is superb and the color saturation is deep and bright!
In closing, I purchased this pristine beauty from zillaf4 (via eBay) in May of 2021! The transaction and communication went extremely well and I’m proud to showcase this immaculate copy in Arachnophobia!
