Amazing Spider-Man #331 features the 4th cover appearance of Venom!
Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $25.
According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 511 Universal copies graded, 247 copies were graded in 9.8 with ONLY 1 copy graded higher in 9.9!
With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of 48.34% of the total population.

In April of 1990, artists Erik Larsen & Terry Austin created an action-packed Spider-Man & Punisher cover, as they are featured doing battle side-by-side against terminator-like machines, which is appropriately captioned: HEAVY METAL MASSACRE!
Furthermore, to showcase the other supporting characters featured in this graphic novel movie, a small five panel filmstrip was included right above the Amazing Spider-Man title. Within this filmstrip; in the second panel from the far left, we see a tiny headshot profile of Venom—which happens to be his 4th cover appearance in the history of comics!
As funny as that may seem, at the time ASM #331 was published, Venom has only had “1” full cover appearance in ASM #316! In ASM #315—Venom’s historic 1st cover appearance; only his face was shown! In ASM #317—Venom’s 3rd cover appearance; only his shapeshifted body and tentacles were shown! Therefore, Venom wouldn’t make his 2nd full cover appearance until the following issue—in ASM #332!
Moreover, Venom’s evolution from villain to antihero has taken deep roots amongst avid readers, which in turn, has increased Venom’s fan base throughout mainstream pop culture. With the success of Venom (2018) and the highly anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which is scheduled to premiere on October 15, 2021, demand for Venom’s earliest cover appearances will only continue to rise to new heights!
Although ASM #331 is far from being rare, as there are more 9.8 copies on the CGC Census than any other grade, this particular 9.8 copy is exceptional because it is PERFECTLY WRAPPED and CENTERED and contains PERFECT WHITE PAGES! In addition, the staple placement is excellent, the book is perfectly cut and the color saturation is deep and bright!
In closing, I purchased this pristine beauty from arexcrooke (via eBay) in June of 2021! The transaction and communication went extremely well and I’m proud to showcase this immaculate copy in Arachnophobia!
