Well, this is an example of a book that has taken multiple upgrades…but I think I might be done now! Originally, I had acquired an 8.5 copy, but I always had an eye on improving on it. A second highest graded 9.2 was sold in September 2019 for $1938, but I don't remember it being offered. I upgraded my copy in April 2021 , bumping up one grade to a CGC 9.0 (figuring that I was unlikely to see any of the three 9.2s or the single 9.4 anytime soon.
I was proven WRONG!!! The SINGLE HIGHEST GRADED copy of this book, the CGC 9.4, came to auction at Heritage in August 2021 (a scant 4 months after my upgrade to CGC 9.0). While it took a lot of hard work and effort (ie. Money), I was successful in my bid to acquire my final upgrade on this issue (presumably, unless a raw copy is out there that will someday be certified higher). If that is the case, I cannot be blamed for this upgrade!!!
This was the last appearance of Cave Carson in the series. The exploits of Cave Carson and his team would be seen next in the Showcase title (specifically issues #48, 49 & 52).
Perhaps some movie producer out there can read this and decide that Cave Carson (with his cybernetic eye) would make a great blockbuster (probably have Dwayne Johnson as Cave Carson lol). Then these appearances will skyrocket!!!
