Owner's Description
Issue #55 features the first silver age appearance of the golden age Robin, along with a JSA appearance. It begins on Earth-Two, where four beings are given super-powers by mysterious black spheres, and thus Gem Girl, How Chu, Money Master, and the Smashing Sportsman are born and begin to terrorize various cities in the world. While at the headquarters of the Justice Society of America, the group is welcoming Robin into their ranks when they receive reports of the various criminals rampages.
While Robin and Wildcat fight the Smashing Sportsman, Mr. Terrific and Hawkman take on Money Master, Wonder Woman takes on Gem Girl, and Hourman battles How Chu. Each one is easily defeated by their opponents and is forced to retreat back to JSA headquarters. There they find Johnny Thunder with his Thunderbolt. Johnny suggests that they call in their friends the Justice League from Earth-One to help them on their current case. When Thunderbolt contacts Superman, Flash, Green Arrow, and Green Lantern, he learns they were each just in a battle against similar beings on their own Earth.
The Thunderbolt explains to all that the spheres originate from a dark matter universe and to survive they need to be absorbed into a human host. However, as a side effect, they would turn the human evil. The JSA and JLA decide to team up and learn how to solve this menace that is plaguing both their worlds.
Our 9.8 is one of four highest graded and boasts both white pages and a Rocky Mountain pedigree. We acquired this copy in a trade with a friend and fellow collector in 2020.
