STORY: "TYPHOID ATTACK"

Part 1 of 2.

On assignment for the Daily Bugle, Peter Parker photographs a bloody crime scene inside a rundown motel. While the police are investigating the murder, Peter notices a fraught and homeless young woman named Mary in the room. Apparently, she witnessed the crime and is now suffering an emotional breakdown. Feeling sympathetic towards Mary, Aunt May's nephew invites her to have dinner at his home. That sounds like a wonderful idea, provided that Mary isn't some kind of crazy serial killer or something! Oh no! Can the web-slinger retract that invitation? Unfortunately, it's too late by the time Mary Jane answers the door…and Typhoid Mary walks in! Will the spectacular one be able to contain the typhoid outbreak…before it becomes a bloody (Mary) mess?

Script by Ann Nocenti. Pencils by James Fry. Inks by Sal Buscema and Rodney Ramos. Cover by Joe Madureira and Cam Smith.

Notes:

It would appear that four variants of this issue were available. I have added the Reverse description to illustrate the difference between the known versions of this book. I have all of them, but I am not sure they are correctly listed for proper location placement.

Polybagged enhanced variants included one of six 6.5" x 10" color animation cels featuring Peter Parker changing into his costume and a 16-page insert titled "Work in Progress" which detailed the making of the Spider-Man animated series for television. (Per mycomicshop.com) The Issue located here is the noted as "#1 on the Graphic"

This Example (#1) originally came Poly Bagged. Notice the Blue Background. Also note the bar-code labeled "Direct Edition"

#2 Blue Background Red Ink Letters. UPC is a Newsstand Variant as it doesn't say "Direct Edition"

#3. White Background Yellow Letters the Bar Code says "Direct Edition"

#4 White Background Yellow Letters Poly Bagged, and Notice the UPC has Spider-Man. This variant is known as the "Game Pro Magazine Edition". It was paired with a Game Pro Magazine.
