Story Title: The Rise and Fall of the Shi’ar Empire: Chapter Four - Castaways

Synopsis: On Chandilar, the vice-chancellor is informed by one of his commanders about the destruction by Vulcan of many of the stargates. He is also told something about the line of the Phoenix. With this news, he heads to a prison world where he recruits a man named Korvus to carry out a task for him in exchange for his freedom. Professor Xavier’s team of X-Men arrive at a space station, where they stop to refuel and gather supplies. The Shi’ar workers aren’t all they appear to be and, when one fires at Nightcrawler, Darwin is sucked out into space. Fortunately, he adapts to his new environment quickly. The workers then reveal themselves to be Warskrulls, and they attack the X-Men. It’s a chance meeting, and not one they were fully expecting, having recently fled from their own system. One has an implant that prevents Marvel Girl from accessing her telepathy, and it’s up to Warpath to defend her and Charles against the Skrulls. Havok and Polaris come to their rescue and, before long, the Skrulls are defeated. Two Shi’ar crewmen are discovered alive and, despite being allowed to travel with the X-Men to the nearest Shi’ar hub, they swear to deliver Charles to the vice-chancellor’s justice when the time comes.
