Owner's Description
As Peter rests in bed thinking about Saturday morning, he wakes up in a panic remembering that today is Friday, and speedruns his morning to wake up. But he winds up late for work to double back for his lost keys, thinking it can't be this hard for people to leave the house. Across town, Mary Jane is trying to get the kids ready for a trip to the park, but Owen exclaims he hates the park while Stephanie is trapped in thought wondering if clowns have ears before Paul walks in with their bag of snacks. The kids raid the bag before Mary Jane orders Owen to comply while Stephanie asks Paul if clowns have ears. Mary Jane mutters they're never leaving the house.
Peter enjoys the sunny day outside while onlookers gawk at something behind him. When Mary Jane and Paul exit the apartment with the kids, they find cold weather and snow, a foreboding omen to Mary Jane despite the forecast being in the high seventies. As Peter, Mary Jane, and Paul see the distant tornado, Paul recognizes the man inside the winds as the kids tell Mary Jane that the Scribble Man has returned. Paul follows Mary Jane's orders to take the kids in the opposite direction of her, reminding Mary Jane he'll find her once the kids are safe. As Peter and Mary Jane run towards the danger, she calls Peter to warn him that the Scribble Man came back.
ONE YEAR EARLIER
At Ryker's Island, a riot squad attempt to breach the cell of Benjamin Rabin, exclaiming that his behavior has voided all of his privileges. Inside, the metal pieces of the bed frames were used to make a barrier sealing the door, while Rabin was inside and had sacrificed other cellmates with a makeshift sickle. Finding his equations "sound" and with his last sacrifice, Rabin slashed the man's belly to finalize the ritual, hearing Peter and Mary Jane talk when she asked him to move in,[1] appearing to them and demanding they come with him. A defiant Peter doesn't remember him, while Rabin remembers the "Sun-Blooded Clown Priest." He explains that Peter's death will bring about the end of all things to make way for "the final sacrifice," but Peter refutes him and gets sent flying into the wall.
An angered Mary Jane demands he leaves but is grabbed by Rabin, seeing through a psychic link that Rabin aims to flood the world with blood. Peter returns to send Rabin flying out the hole in the wall he made and puts on the spare costume Mary Jane had. Spider-Man then pummeled Rabin in the street outside before he is branded with the Mark of Vengeance, seeing a vision foretelling the return of Wayep, which Rabin attempted to do some years ago[2] and now has another chance. Rabin also tells Spider-man that he marked another for sacrifice, seeking to become Wayep's Emissary should he succeed and be deemed worthy. Inside the building lobby, a security guard called NYPD as the Mark of Sacrifice on Mary Jane's wrist glows simultaneous to Peter's mark. They find themselves in an alternate universe, dystopian New York, with devastated Flatiron Building, ruined streets, and a demonic feathered serpent in the distance sitting in front of blood-red skies.
