Owner's Description

Bane breaks Batman's back. Doug Moench story. Jim Aparo & Dick Giordano art. Kelley Jones cover. Almost a silent issue, except for Batman's thoughts in earnest and trying to figure out the next possible blow, which route to take and even as the hits are landing on how to bob and weave. Swaying with one last exertion after the claps of fists, it takes Bane to swivel, pick and pivot, and then put the Batman over his knee. This story surfaced to astound us in comics, without the thought of consequences, or how it seemed to have some gall and end in a way that Bruce Wayne had not considered, nor the reader thought possible. A "breaking of the Batman?" It was with one decisive move and contortion twist that the brute force was applied, and it made a thunderous snap of the spine! The Batman incapacitated takes a wheezy breath, to just slunk back and accept defeat in a curled-up agony!

AS2 The Newsstand Under Copy shows the full picture, and that of the severity! "KrAkT!"

Complete with a back cover picture of the insides to this issue from my newsstand under copy! Those readers that can put an exact amount of pressure on the reader and collector alike, to when and where those "greatest battles" occurred and with whom it would be naive to think it couldn't happen again.
