DC really like to "introduce" their characters out of their time. Supergirl and Superboy were both in the Legion together in the 30th century (don't even ask how they explained that one!)
Robin meets Superboy, Superboy meets Superman, Lois Lane meets Superboy....well you get the idea. Here we have Supergirl meeting the boy of steel. You know, if it weren't for the fact that they are cousins....
