Alot of firsts came out of Superboy stories! First appearance of Bizarro, LSH, Krypto and in this issue the Phantom Zone! A concept popular enough to be included in the Superman movies.
Those Kryptonians were so much more advanced than we are, instead of putting their criminals in high security prisons they turned them into insubstantial ghosts who couldn't touch or feel anything, but were able to peep into our everyday lives and see what they were missing.
