Hey There Boost Buddy!

Key Issue: 1st appearance of Booster Gold & Skeets. Blackguard appearance.

I was in Panama City, Florida when I met Booster Gold & Skeets for the first time. To me they were extremely interesting characters in the DC universe, different from the other heroes in that they rescued people for the fame and glory it brought them rather than just because it was the right thing to do.

Don't get me wrong, they were definitely the good guys at heart but always looked for advantages to further their popularity and pocketbooks in all their actions. Very different at the time.

Booster and Skeets were stationed in Metropolis, which, of course, brought them into direct contact with Superman eventually, but not until a few issues into the series due to Supes being otherwise occupied at the time.

Booster would go on to make many, many appearances in the justice league (later kicked out), the 52 series, and the whole Infinite mess that keeps on popping up.
He has recently been forced into a much more noble role in the DC universe than he is comfortable with. But thems the breaks, Bud!

In This Issue: We very subtly learn that Booster and Skeets apparently come from some future time. We also learn of Booster's many different focuses, such as a movie deal, trying to get in touch with the Justice League, being in a comic book (ha), and working on a personalized car.

While all this is going on, he and Skeets have a battle with Blackguard and a bunch of flunkies after nearly being demolished on the road by the bad guy's armored vehicle.

They defeat Blackguard in the presence of news crews and onlookers (always desired by Booster), and find out that the bad guys had just robbed STAR Labs (Name later used in the 1990's The Flash TV Series) of a Satellite Guidance System and were making their getaway.

In the process of returning the device(also in the presence of newscasters), he is attacked and supposedly paralyzed in front of STAR Labs by a strangely clothed woman.

We also learn in this first issue that Booster is in possession of a Legion Ring and that someone is out to discover exactly who he is.
