Set Description:
In June of 1986, I was spending a week in Panama city with my parents and two of my cousins. I was 13 years old and having a blast at the beach.
Then one afternoon I walked into a gas station to get something cool to drink and there on one of those old rotating metal racks were some comic books. My father and I had just started picking up a couple of series (New Mutants and Further Adventures of Indiana Jones to be precise).
One in particular caught my attention mainly because of the name. "Booster Gold". They had three issues on the racks, #3 #4 & #5.
I absolutely loved the covers and after a quick glance through them realized I would like the stories, too. I picked up all three issues and took them to my Dad, who also liked them, and of course our next course of action was to find the first two issues.
We went to a comic shop right there in Panama City called The Book Bin II and found them. I must have read all five issues three or four times during the rest of the trip.
Great times. I miss you, Dad. :)
Of all the CGC graded series that I will collect, THIS one will easily hold the most nostalgia for me regardless of the low point values.
While I DO love the New Mutants as well, the memories this series brings to mind for me make this the #1 set I want to complete! While I would love to have them all in 9.8, I will settle for the time being until I can find 9.8 copies of some of them.
