Billy Batson is emceeing a quiz show at WHIZ when a contestant (Sir Christopher) makes the extraordinary claim that he personally made just about every great explorational discovery of the last 500 years and used the fountain of youth to remain young. He claims to have left stone markers as evidence but suspects they've been covered up. Captain Marvel uses the Rock of Eternity to head back in time to disprove or confirm Sir Christophers claims. He flies to the North Pole in 1902 and shockingly finds Sir Christopher planting the American Flag. Sir Christopher heads off but his sled dogs break free of their reins and Cap needs to get them back to save Sir Christopher from freezing. The reader, however, is able to peer into the thoughts of Sir Christopher and it seems this is all an elaborate Hoax. Cap then heads to California in 1847 and again finds Sir Christopher this time as the man who started the Gold Rush. Cap is forced to save the Sir Christopher again as two bandits immediately try to steal his gold. Cap then heads to 1490 to find Sir Christopher discovering America. Again, Sir Christopher's life is threatened as Cap punches out a hungry alligator. Cap approaches Sir Christopher and congratulates him on his discovery and likewise responds thanking Captain Marvel. As he flies off it occurs to Marvel that Christopher couldn't possibly have known has name and so returns as Bill Batson whom Christopher also recognizes. Seeing he's screwed up Christopher knocks out and gags Billy. He then launches into a long diatribe spelling out his plan that includes a time machine and anger over being an unknown explorer. He tosses Billy into a lake where an alligator catches his tooth on Billy's gag allowing him to say his magic word. Captain Marvel returns to the present time and smashes Sir Christopher on the top of the head before explaining to everyone the hoax.
