The Danger Room is the ultimate What If? The first nine pages have the New Mutants go against the Marauders...and lost.
In this issue we find Illyana Rasputin becoming closer to being the DarkChylde. In the Comic book Database Issue 71 is the listed book that has her first appearance. Page 12 of this issue shows her transformation, a transformation that held longer even after she left Limbo.
S'Ym is an underrated character. It also showed the first time (in my eyes) that Magneto was willing to go above and beyond to help his students, in this case willing to destroy a Techno-Virus injected S'Ym. But Illyana showed her strength letting him know that she would take care of this problem.
The cover is also by Bill Sienkiewicz, and depicts Sy'm on the cover that he hasn't been on since issue 14.
This cover is closer to his original run between issues 18-31, and the reason for this is, he did the whole cover. The funny thing is I didn't dislike this cover as much as I did that first run.
I didn't yet anticipate what would be out next or follow any mags to see what was next.
