Prior notes...
CENSUS: as of June 2016.
2 copies at 9.9. I have not seen them for sale or in a collection.
198 copies in 9.8. About 4 new copies per year since 2013.
97 more copies in 9.6 out of 375 graded copies.
4 SS copies. All 4 graded at 9.8. Most signed by Klaus Janson and or Stan Lee. A neat cover.
I had a copy from Reynold Jays' "Deep Freeze" graded 9.9 by PGX. It was beautiful. I had it submitted to CGC and it was given a 9.8 grade. Hard to get a 9.9 without some magic within CGC.
There were separate Direct Issues and Newstand variants for issue number 189 and this pattern follows through the entire Daredevil Miller era run. I have been told the numbers of direct edition vs. newstand versions ranged proportionally 60-40 to 70-30 for each type, depending on the issue.
The newstand variants are much rarer in high grade, as they lived their life on a heavily fondled newstand, not in a direct edition mailer. This ratio also varies, with approximately one out of five (some issues one out of 20!) issues being graded 9.8 as the rarer Newstand Variant. Newstand Variants are hard to get, but not impossible.
Newstand variants have the price in a square box next to the issue number at the top of the letter box, the direct editions have the price and issue number in a diamond shape within the letter box.
Returns to a normal size comic with a new price of 60 cents. Probably some Canadian variants too.

VALUE:
A 9.9? Expect $500 to 2,000 dollars depending on your need and checkbook.
Expect to pay $50-150 for a basic 9.8WP Copy, easily more if excellent structure and more again if signed. And add a premium for the “Newstand Variant”, generally sold for around $200 now. The Newstands seem rare.
ALL the issues from 170 to 191 are generally available on EBay or the auction houses every month.

ISSUE TITLE "Siege".

STORY LINE:
The Black Widow dies but is resurrected by Stone. I mean it is a comic book story... Daredevil and company have a free-for-all with the Hand, in which Stick gives his life to save Matt, well, maybe not, again it is a comic book thing...and the Hand tries to resurrect Elektra, but maybe it works...or not...but surely the Black Widow and Foggy do break up Heather and Matt, as in this comic book story they shall not be together. A busy cast and storytelling issue. Good work Frank.
NOTES and TRIVIA:
Penciled and inked solely by Klaus Janson.
Matt Murdock's engagement to Heather Glenn is broken off.
Kirigi's body has been destroyed. Really.

Published every month now.
First published in December 1982.
