"The Riddle of the Space Reds"

During the Korean War Capt. Marvel heads to Asia to defend US troops being attacked by red star emblazoned flying saucers. Cap grabs a fleeing saucer but it blows up before he can investigate. After searching the entire planet Cap finds a saucer in Korea (uh, duh). He breaks in and is attacked by easily defeated hairy green aliens. Marvel forces one to reveal that they are from Pluto. They live under a totalitarian regime and hate freedom so they allied themselves with Communists. They are "Space Reds".

Again, the aliens blow up their ship and Capt. Marvel goes in search of another. When he finds one he changes to Billy to avoid a third self destruction. Sneaking on to the ship with the intention of finding the location of their base he is predictably discovered, knocked out and gagged. On the moon the alien commander announces Billy will be killed after monologuing about attacking Earth. Billy is given a helmet so he can survive outside prior to his execution but he smashes it and shouts his magic word (which doesn't seem likely in a vacuum) and then appears to kill every alien by dropping a mountain on them. Capt. Marvel destroys an attack fleet approaching the Earth and throws the commanders corpse all the way back to Pluto as a warning. Brutal.

On a train to Istanbul, Billy is to meet the mysterious "Ming from Tibet" who claims to have info vital to American interests. While trying to sleep a knife flashes and he changes to Capt. Marvel. The knife breaks on his chest but the assassin escapes leaving Cap with two clues, a bracelet and the scent of perfume.

Billy arrives in Istanbul to meet Ming but he's clunked on the head and wakes tied. gagged and sinking in a river. Meanwhile, Ming is kidnapped by the female assassin and her hulking assistant. Billy manages to snag his gag on a boats propeller and pops above the water to speak his magic word. He finds a trail of beads and follows them assuming they were left by Ming. He finds the two criminals but the woman throws powder in Cap's eyes and they escape after leaving a lengthy letter mocking Capt. Marvel. They left Ming but gave him a potion rendering him mute. However, Ming has mastered Tibetan telepathy and directs Cap to his secret through mental communication.

Capt. Marvel arrives too late to get the secret. The female spy is trying to sell it, still locked in a box, to Communist agents. They offer five million but Cap bursts in and starts punching everyone out. Cap tosses the female spy rear end first in to a mud puddle and reveals he tracked her by the scent of her perfume. In the end the secret turns out to be a telepathy tuner. Ohhh Kay.

Billy is doing a radio report on a supposed vampire sighting. Meanwhile, the vampire, a distinguished looking older gentleman is walking along the docks. This vampire doesn't like blood and craves Goody Goody Bars even to the point of stealing one from a child. A woman watching the theft passes out after seeing him transform into a bat and fly off.

Billy discovers that crates of Goody Goody bars are being stolen and changes to Capt. Marvel to investigate. He stakes out a warehouse and discovers the vampire flying in as a bat and then changing to a man. Cap punches the vampire to the ground but he manages to push a stack of crates onto Cap and make his escape.

Three weeks pass and the vampire is growing weaker from a lack of the special protein found in Goody Goody bars. He spots an article in a paper announcing the Goody Goody bar factory will be moving. As a truck is moving crates of bars the vampire flies in and begins eating the candy. When Cap arrives the vampire asks for mercy saying the candy contains a substance necessary for him to live. Cap takes the vampire to the president of Goody Goody bars and explains the situation. When informed that there are THOUSANDS of vampires in Transylvania who crave Goody Goody bars the president sees dollar signs and hires the vampire to sell candy bars.

"The Thief From the Past"
(Script) Bill Woolfolk
(Pencils/Inks) C.C. Beck

Billy is chatting with a cop when a call orders the officer to a museum. Following along as Capt. Marvel they arrive to find that a valuable necklace, stolen in 1903, has mysteriously returned. As the museum curator shows them the necklace it pops out of existence.

Capt. Marvel uses the Rock of Eternity to travel back to 1903 arriving at the museum as the necklace theft is discovered. No one shows surprise at the huge muscular man in a red suit and Cap catches a clue that the night watchman might be involved. He flies to the man's house and changes to Billy to avoid alerting suspicion. Peering in a window he sees a time machine but the watchman (Sal Vimon) drops a heavy book on his head knocking him out. Vimon shows the bound and gagged Billy how he used his "time trap" to steal the necklace which seems an overly complicated plan for a simple theft.

Vimon decides to kill Billy with a turn of the century bi-plane flying up and dropping him to his death (again, WAY too complicated). After kicking the thief, the plane crashes and Billy is hurled off a cliff. His gag snags on a branch allowing him to transform but Vimon is dead. Destroying the time trap Cap leaves the necklace for fear of altering the present. Back in 1953 he returns to Vimon's boarded up house and finds the necklace in an old chest.
