Set Description:

Have great early memories of many of DC Digests and how they allowed me to discover/explorer what was (no longer is) DC's rich tapestry.

"1970's - Mid 1980's DC digests why are they scarce in high grade?"

1) Miss-cuts abound.

2) Glue stains and drips

3) Torn spines

4) Scrapes, usually located on the top left Front Cover corner

5) Cover Indentations and Creases are common due to thick rigid stock.

6) Variable paper quality (outer pages may be off-white BUT the middle 3/4 of the book will have snow White pages)

If a DC Digest somehow managed to remain in high grade after the printing/manufacturing and distribution processes, man-handling of what at the time were less desirable comics comes into consideration. All these many factors make DC Digests very difficult to find in 9.6 NM+ and near impossible to locate in raw in potential 9.8 NM/M. One might speculate if demand for these Digests was higher they might rank among the most valuable DC books from 1979-1986?

Last issue of the original Adventure Comics :sniff I still recall seeing this Digest as a child and wanting it badly but not having enough on me to purchase it. The next week when I got back to the shop was gone. A few years later found one at the quarter bins at my LCS. Thanks to Vane for allowing me to purchase this near non-existent in high grade DC Digest.

At time of cancellation this was the longest running DC title having started it's run in 1935 as "New Comics" then "New Adventure Comics" from #12-#31 and finally "Adventure Comics" from #31-#503.

While DC did issue a one-off Tarzan Digest in 1972, Best of DC #1 from 1979 was actually the book that kicked off their digest program.

Ross Andru's great new cover caused many a child like myself to empty our "piggy banks" for .95 cents. Which back then was a somewhat large amount for a comic book. To put it into perspective, in my hometown at least, you could grab yourself 2 slices of pizza and a drink for the same cost at that time.
