Set Description:

THE MARVEL 35 CENT PRICE VARIANTS WERE PRODUCED IN THE MONTHS OF JUN- OCTOBER 1977. MARVEL DECIDED IT WOULD TEST MARKET SOME PRICES IN A FEW SELECT CITIES. IT APPEARS IT WAS 5 CITIES IN TOTAL, THESE WERE THE CITIES WHERE THE PRICE VARIANT BOOKS WERE SOLD- 1. MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE 2. TOLEDO,OHIO 3. TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA 4. WILLMINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA 5. SAN ANTONIO,TEXAS. MARVEL WANTED TO SEE HOW COLLECTORS WOULD RESPOND TO A SLIGHT INCREASE IN THE PRICE ON THE BOOKS. IT IS KNOW THAT A VERY SMALL PRINT RUN ON EACH BOOK WAS MADE. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT ABOUT A FEW HUNDRED ISSUES OF EACH STILL EXIST TODAY. THESE BOOKS ARE CATEGORIZED AS AMONG THE HARDEST MARVEL COLLECTIBLE BOOKS TO FIND.
