Major Mars adorns the cover of this first issue which contains his origin story along with Grag, the Robot (also seen on the cover so a very early robot cover). The issue is ripe with first appearances including The Mask, Sgt. Bill King, Jim Hatfield, Gunner Thompson, Hy Hardy, Dan Williams and Make-Believe Mickey.
Lower grade copy of the issue but presents well for it's age and condition and hey, it's the first issue.

Still trying to make it's mind up as to what genre of book it's going to be, this issue has Ted Crane vine-swinging in a scuffle with some natives. It is his first appearance in a story title, "The Leopard Men." Inside there was sci-fi, mythology, western, crime/suspense. So it was loaded with a mixed bag of stories.
A solid mid-grade copy of the book with decent cover colors.

Love this pulp style sci-fi cover featuring the Space Rovers. Ray guns and bizarre alien robots. Another solid mid-grade copy of a tough book. The pencil markings on the cover detract slightly but I'm happy to have a copy as the early issues are somewhat tough to be had.

Space Rovers again adorn the cover along with a fairly menacing sea serpent. Hopefully that little stick will do the trick but my money may be on the serpent's jaws. This is a very nice mid-grade example of another tough book. Very happy with this one.

Ok low grade for sure presents extremely well for such a low grade. And just a great cover on this one. Max Plaisted Space Rovers cover. If not for the Schomburg covers that were to come, I would rate these sci-fi covers high and they extremely scarce IMO - just don't see too many come up for sale.

This copy actually presents very well for a lower grade. The page quality really hurt but still a nice pre-Black Terror issue. Schomburg delivers a pulpish adventure-style cover.

Schommie second cover of the title, again with Ted Crane. Gorilla covers are a collecting niche and this is an early example of one. The jungle adventure covers were soon to end as the next issue intro the most popular Nedor character.

For an issue, I thought I might never acquire, I now have two copies of this book. A heroic Black Terror saves the day. Tim is also shown on the cover by Elmer Wexler. And inside we get the their origin story in the appropriately named "Nemesis of Evil." This is just a great book!

From the Pinnacle Hill collection, a restored copy of what is the first war cover of the series. I thought the Wexler cover were a bit underrated - they were somewhat static but also heroic in their depiction of the Terror. Also of note this is first appearance and origin of the Liberator aka Dr. Nelson Drew.
