Set Description:

This registry set celebrates the high-water mark of French comic history: Editions Lug, 1983. Based in Lyon, Lug was the premier gateway for the Marvel revolution in Europe, but 1983 also saw the publisher thriving with unique adaptations that have since become legendary for their scarcity and artistic merit.
The cornerstone of this collection is the exceptionally rare Blackstar #8, illustrated by the 'French Jack Kirby,' Jean-Yves Mitton. This issue is a holy grail for fans of fantasy and animation history; as a precursor to the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe phenomenon, Blackstar established the 'Sword and Sci-Fi' blueprint that would dominate the 1980s.
By 1983, as the series reached its end, print runs became increasingly limited, making Issue #8 one of the most elusive entries in the Lug catalog. This set honors the transition from American imports to the homegrown brilliance of Mitton, capturing a moment when the French newsstands were home to the rarest and most striking visions of the cosmic hero."
