Traveling through the internet, especially sites that cater to graded comic books I tend to find some beauties. Enter Ghost issue 8 published by Fiction House in the Fall of 1953, the year before the Seduction of the innocent was published by German born American Frederick Wertham. There were a total of five other books I purchased the same time I purchased this one. Three of the others were also pivotal in growing my graded point five collection.
This issue is incomplete, a symptom of most of the point fives I have. Im almost surprised it didn't also get a purple label since the cover was reattached with tape. It's a book I wouldn't even be able to read since it also is missing the first wrap. I dare say I would love to see what that first splash page would have been like. The blonde damsel gracing the cover terrified by the embraced voodoo doll while her savior is shirtless and brandishing a gun.
The cover is so full of vibrant colors even 70 years later. the book was so cheap I was startled when I started looking for these at various conventions. One day I hope to purchase another. I also hope that it will be a book that can be added to my point five collection... now onto some current day CGC info.
