I was just as worried about cracking these as I was cracking my ASM 129 for a third signature. I also decided to get my original copies graded not caring what they graded. There were titles that came out in the eighties that helped define what a comic book should be to me. This was one of them.
A special thanks to RonnyLama for opening his home once again for another year of ECCC wholesome fun.

This is the last I needed. Only six issues long, now I wonder if any 9.9's will surface.
It has been awhile since I purchased this issue. I took this to ECCC with me for Art Adams to sign along with Ann Nocenti. Both names are scrawled in black and on this one unlike issue one, Art wrote the date as well.
On my original set I go more into detail about each book both with the story and with my own experiences.

Book was originally a Universal 9.8. I cracked the slab specifically for signing. Book was not pressed in between.

I originally purchased this from World Wide Comics. I cracked my full gauntlet of 9.8's for this series that I did not already have signed. This meant I stayed away from issue 6. This is signed so much better than my own copy, both signatures stand out in silver. It is also the first appearance of Mojo, so maybe I should check if this is placed in the Copper first set yet.

This is it, the best of the best, the only 9.8 I have from my original six. The signatures are in stark contrast to the rest of the book, the black sharpie looks great against the white background. I wish the other five were as gorgeously rendered as this, the funny thing is, out of all the cover fors this series, this was the one I liked the least.
The first Marvel super hero Longshot comes across is non other than the She-Hulk, and for no reason other than he stole diamonds she hits him into a tree. I would figure that would be the acts of a few other heroes, but a Lawyer. Her aggressive nature never took her over like her cousin's took his. And then while Longshot tries to figure out his predicament, we are thrust back to see Mojo.
Mojo is maniacal, crazy, insane, and those are the nicest things I can think of. But then when you realize what a crazy nut he is, we are sent back to look in on our friend Longshot and just in time too, because here he is dodging insults from our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

When I first saw this book it was on World Wide Comics website. I never got it. I already had a 9.8 and didn't want another one.The person it did sell to was Bagofleas who decided to get it sign. For some reason he decided to sell it...I spoke up. I will now most likely sell my issue six since it is replaced by this one, maybe now he will sell me his issue #47 of the New Mutants. LOL.

I sit in front of my keyboard and wonder what I could possibly say about this comic book... and I either go blank...or a swirl of words beckon to be spoken. If I thought the earlier annuals of the eighties were awesome...this quantified that feeling. The New Mutants just battled through a tremendous situation with the odds against them possibly winning by luck alone. Afterwards they were summoned away like pawns only to emerge like Kings and Queens... or in Ms. Rahne Sinclaire is concerned a princess. This book could have been signed by so many...I chose three...mainly because it was a signing. This is one of my favorite books, not just from the eighties, but since I started collecting. The Art is amazing and the story telling is riveting. Dare I mention the precise lettering. And even though this copy is not a pedigree...it is from the Golden State collection which has to mean something somewhere to somebody.

Art Adams. WOW! ART ADAMS. After the Special Edition and the Longshot limited series had me hooked. This book was purchased off of Rich Henn along with numerous other books, but I think it was this one I was most happy with. I wanted to get the follwoing issue signed but was afraid it would drop. I did purchase a back up copy, as I did with issue 34, both of which are now part of my collection and will one day be cracked. I will continue to go after signatures, but I wonder, out of the ones purchased, will I enjoy any one of them better than these.
