Set Description:
I got back into comics in the summer of '09. After reading some modern super hero books I decided to buy the first three TPB of The Walking Dead. I remember opening the first TPB and saying "black and white? :( " and decided to read other TPB that had nice exciting colors. Once I read through all the other TPB and decided to try out those *spoon* B&W zombie books.
As I started to make my way through the first TPB I realized that this book was something I have never experienced, something so gripping. Simply put: amazing story telling. I made quick work of the first three TPB and had to wait a week to receive the other trades that would keep me up to date with the month floppies (issue 69). I went on a crazy WD bender and caught up in about a week, spending many late nights flipping pages and wondering what would happen next.
Since then, Walking Dead has consistently been on my pull list at my local comic shop.
Once I got into the world of CGC I realized that I need Walking Dead 1-10 in 9.6 condition or better.
As you can see my collection has blossomed into something I take a lot of pride in. It is a far cry from 1-10 in 9.6, showing that it has become more then a hobby - it's a true passion!
I have the pleasure to meet all the main creators of the series. I even had the pleasure to set up a private charity signing with Charlie Adlard at last year's BCC. I am a huge fan of the comic and cannot wait to see where Mr. Kirkman will take us.
I have also included my Walking Dead Original art to some of the back scan section of the registry.
With the time, info and great people I have meet along the way, I feel as if this set has actually made me into a better collector and member of the CGC society.
thanks for looking!
Doug

SS by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore Commission by Tony Moore "Rick goes to Atlanta"
First Appearance of Lori Grimes, Carl Grimes, Glenn, Andrea, Sophia Allen, Ben, Billy, and Jim.
After traveling all night, Rick runs out of gas. He walks to a nearby farm, and after going into the house and discovering that the family is dead, heads to the barn. He finds a horse and an axe inside and continues traveling to Atlanta on horseback. Rick finally makes it to Atlanta only to find it overrun with walkers. He gets thrown from the horse and as some of the zombies attack and devour the horse, others turn their attention to Rick. He uses the axe he found at the barn to protect himself, but is soon surrounded and begins to use his gun. Suddenly, a young man grabs Rick and tells him to follow him and to stop shooting. They climb to a rooftop and jump from roof to roof to get close to the edge of town. The young man says that the zombies are slow and that they should easily maneuver around them. He also warns that one bite from a walker will infect you and turn you into a walker as well.
The two finally make it to the edge of town near a wooded area. The young man explains that everyone came to Atlanta, but people started dying and turning into walkers. In the space of a week everyone in Atlanta had died. Rick falls to the ground as he fears that his wife and son are now dead. The young man consoles Rick and tells him that he is with a small camp of people and brings him along.
Just as Rick gets to the camp, he sees his wife, Lori Grimes, and his son, Carl Grimes. All three embrace, happily reunited.

SS by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore Tony Moore sketch card of Zombie Rick
The survivors learn that a zombie will continue to live even if decapitated. The head must be destroyed to kill the walker for good.
First Appearance of Dale, Carol, Amy, Donna
Shane comes up to greet Rick. Rick is happy to see him and Lori says that Shane helped her and Carl escape to Atlanta. Shane then shows Rick around the camp and introduces everyone. The young man that helped Rick in the city is Glenn. There is Allen and Donna and their twin boys, Ben and Billy, Dale (who has a camper), Jim, Carol and her daughter Sophia, and sisters Amy and Andrea. Everyone leaves Rick and Lori to be reacquainted. That night, Rick and Lori talk. Lori apologizes for leaving Rick at the hospital. He forgives her saying that he was happy that she was doing what was best for Carl. Rick asks if Dale is enough to keep watch. Lori begins explaining the situation of how very few zombies have come near them. Rick, finally thinking about the situation they are all in, admits he is scared.
The next morning, Rick wakes up and meets Shane as he comes out of his tent. Shane mentions that Dale's camper has a working shower and he wants to go hunting with Rick after he takes a shower. Rick takes his shower and upon exiting, sees Dale. Dale tells Rick that he shouldn't trust Shane. He says Shane is a good man and helps out around the camp, but Shane isn't happy that Rick is back because he has had his eye on Lori. Rick appreciates Dale's concern, but reassures him that Shane was only keeping Lori and Carl safe. Rick laughs it off as he leaves the camper and heads off with Shane to hunt. Meanwhile, Lori, Carol, and Donna go down to a stream to wash clothes. The others stay at camp to watch the kids.
As Rick and Shane are hunting, Shane mentions to Rick that he is glad that he brought some guns. So far they only had Shane's side arm and Dales' rifle. It's been hard to hunt and they have only been eating what Glenn can get from his trips into the city. They hear a rustle and come across a walker eating a deer. They note that it is oblivious to them standing there. They question whether it would be safe to eat the deer. Back at the stream, Lori tells the story of how she met Rick to Carol and Donna. They finish the washing and head back to the camp. Just before they get to the camp, Allen, who is keeping watch atop the camper, sees a walker right behind the women and yells for them to look out. Allen tries to shoot the walker, but Donna is in the way. Suddenly, Dale, who was out cutting firewood, comes up and decapitates the zombie. They are relieved until they notice that the head of the walker is still sputtering and moaning. They are shocked to see it still alive. Back to Rick and Shane, the two are debating taking the deer when the walker finally notices them. It starts to stand up so Rick hits it in the head with his ax. They suddenly hear a gunshot and run back to the camp. They get back to see Allen has shot the head of the walker that attacked. Allen tells Dale that they should get the body into the woods and away from the camp. Rick immediately runs up to Lori and consoles her as Shane looks at the couple with jealousy.

Classic Moore Zombie sketch card
Rick and Glenn discover that zombies will not attack if a person smells like a zombie.
That night after the walker attack, Shane is keeping watch. Rick visits with him and the two discuss the situation. Rick believes that the group needs to move on. He feels that it's too dangerous to be near Atlanta where so many zombies could attack the small group. Shane believes the group should stay put, believing that the government is coming to clean up the mess and if the group stays put, they will be easily found by rescuers. Rick finally concedes but says that they need to train everyone to use a gun and that everyone should be armed. Shane asks how they will get enough guns and Rick says he will think of something. The next morning, Rick talks to Glenn and asks him if he has seen any gun stores on his trips into Atlanta to get supplies. Glenn doesn't recall, but asks Jim and he gives them the location of a store. Glenn goes to find his map, and while he's gone, Rick talks to Lori and tells her he is going to help Glenn to get some guns. Lori isn't happy about it but he reassures her that he will be fine. He also mentions that he is going to teach Carl to shoot a gun, and before Lori can fight him on the subject, Rick and Glenn head into Atlanta for supplies.
As Rick and Glenn walk toward Atlanta, Rick asks about Jim's mental state. Glenn says that Jim is the only known survivor from Atlanta, and he watched his family torn apart by walkers when he escaped. Glenn suddenly stops and says that the gun store is about 5 blocks further than he has ever gone into the city. He says there is no way the two can possibly do it. Rick says he has an idea and takes Glenn to the walker that he killed the day before. Rick says he notices that walkers don't mistake themselves for a living person, and he believes the reason is smell. Rick chops up parts of the zombie and tells Glenn to rub it on his clothes and put a few pieces in his pockets. Rick hopes that by smelling like the walkers, the walkers won't attack them. The two proceed into the city limits.
As soon as they arrive, they walk up to a walker to see how well the theory works. At first it appears that the walker is going to attack Rick, but it settles down as Rick moves back. As they walk further in to the city, they notice that none of the walkers come after them. Rick also mentions how it is a gloomy day. They arrive at the gun store to see a large crowd of walkers. Rick tells Glenn to remain calm and grabs a shopping cart to carry more guns. They grab as many guns and ammunition as they can and exit. As they do, Rick mentions that it is starting to rain, and as Rick hits a walker in the head with an axe, it begins to downpour. The two start to run as the rain begins to wash away the walker smell. The walkers take notice of Rick and Glenn and attempt to attack them. A walker bites Rick's shoulder and Rick starts firing at the crowd of zombies to make a path for Glenn, who is pushing the shopping cart. The two get outside of the city limits and Rick tears off his jacket, relieved to see that the walker did not break his skin. Rick asks Glenn not to tell Lori about the close encounter. Meanwhile, back at camp, Shane and Lori are talking. Shane tries to console Lori, saying that Rick will be fine. He tells her to come back to the camp, and that he will keep her company. Lori refuses Shane and tells him that he needs to stop trying to make advances at her since Rick is back. Shane says, "But what about that night when we - on the road down here?" Lori, her back to Shane, says, "That night was a mistake."

Commission of Rick killing Zombie me by Moore
Death of Amy + Jim is bitten
A couple of weeks after getting the guns, Rick and Shane are teaching everyone how to shoot. Everyone is impressed with Andrea's skill. Both Rick and Shane agree that she is possibly the best shot of the group. Rick also insists on teaching Carl, despite Lori's disapproval. After Rick announces to everyone that Carl will be carrying his own gun. Rick and Lori have a fight. When everyone makes it back to camp, Donna shows her disgust of Andrea and Amy sleeping in the camper with Dale. A couple days later, Rick, Shane, and Dale go to get firewood and they talk about the girls living with Dale. Rick says how he sees nothing wrong with it and Dale says that nothing is going on. He says that the two simply keep things clean, and give him some comfort since his wife passed away a couple months ago. After Rick mentions how cold it's getting, Shane yells at him, saying how tired he is of hearing Rick talk. Rick is left shocked, and Shane leaves with firewood. Dale says to Rick that Shane has issues.
That night they talk about what they did before the outbreak. Dale mentions he was a salesman, retired, and on the road with his wife. After the outbreak, she died, and afterward he found Amy and Andrea. Andrea mentions she was a clerk at a law firm and was driving Amy back to college. Glenn was a pizza delivery boy. Allen says that he was a shoes salesman supporting the rest of the family. Jim simply says he was a mechanic. Rick and Shane recount their stories, and Carol mentions that she used to sell tupperware and her husband was a cars salesman who had killed himself after watching his parents die in front of him. Amy goes to the RV to use the bathroom when she is attacked by a walker which bites her in the neck. The survivors are attacked by walkers which they are able to fight off. Lori is nearly killed by a walker but is saved when Carl shoots it. Jim launches into a rage and attacks a walker while yelling that it killed his family. When all the zombies are dead Andrea shoots Amy in the head in order prevent reanimation. It is then revealed that Jim received a bite on the arm while killing the walker.

Death of Shane and Jim
The survivors hold a funeral for Amy. Shane says he loved Amy for that she always had something to say. Donna also says they all loved her. Jim has perhaps his biggest speech and says nobody deserves to die like this. Rick and Dale also bring forth their sadness. While everybody leaves, Andrea still is crying on Amy's grave. Jim falls sick after being bitten by a walker. Jim tells Donna about his garage boss, who he saw reanimating first. Jim thinks reanimation will not probably happen to him. Allen asks how is he, and Donna says worse. She says Dale's wife, Irma turned in half a day. Lastly, they both think it might not happen to him.
Meanwhile Rick, Carl and Shane go hunting and Carl tells Rick that they don't need as much food, because Amy is dead and Jim is too sick to eat. Shane yells at Rick saying it wasn't his fault. Rick tells him they would have left the camp when they had a chance. Shane still thinks the army is going to save them. Carl escapes and Rick goes after him. Meanwhile, Dale is trying to cheer Andrea up, and Donna tells everyone Jim's request. They bring him to Atlanta where he tells them to leave him there, and that maybe he will meet his family once again.
The following day they wake up and Shane tells Rick to get ready to go hunting. Rick tells Carl to stay behind so that he and Shane can talk. Shane starts yelling at Rick and punches him. Lori then punches Shane, which causes Shane to mentally snap and run off. Rick goes to follow Shane, and Carl follows his father in turn. Rick catches up to Shane and Shane starts yelling at Rick about how he just lost his respect and how Lori would have changed and loved him if Rick hadn't returned. Shane then points his gun at Rick, and is about to shoot him when Carl shoots Shane in the neck. Shane dies choking on his own blood. The book ends with Carl saying: "It's not the same as killing the dead ones, daddy", and Rick replying, "It never should be, son, It never should be."

Sketch by Charlie Adlard
Commission by Tony Moore
This is the first issue drawn by Charlie Adlard First appearance of Tyreese, Julie, and Chris Lori reveals that she's going to have baby
Lori has has a flashback of waiting outside the city where her parents are where she is confronted by Shane. The two of them end up having sex. Back to the present, the survivors are burying Shane. The group then departs their camp using an RV. They continue on their journey until they need to clear some cars that are blocking the road. While clearing the cars the group meets Tyreese, his daughter Julie and her boyfriend Chris. Tyreese explains to Rick that a man in a store attempted to rape Julie. However, he was able to kill the man before he could rape her.
Rick doesn't judge Tyreese, and says anyone would have done that. Tyreese says he's beating himself up because he doesn't feel any guilt from it and the apocalypse has changed him. Suddenly, the two discover roamers. Tyreese marvels about the name 'roamer', and Rick explains they are zombies who just roam around, and killed Amy and Jim.
Tyreese and Rick take their primary weapons; hammer and axe. They trick the zombies, Rick takes one of them and Tyreese takes the other one. They hack them to death and says the situation is under control. They return to the RV and Rick tells Dale to drive around so they could look for some empty houses to stay in. Suddenly, they discover in the road a crashed car. Rick thinks they have to start moving it side if they want to get to safety before dark.
Rick reveals he's glad they bumped into Tyreese and his family. They came in handy. Especially they think Tyreese is strong. Carol and Tyreese are having some eye contact.
At night, Tyreese says the people have a lot of food. Rick says he has to thank Glenn about it. He says he was just doing his part, but Carol thinks they'd be much worse off without him. Tyreese agrees, he and Carol hold hands and Glenn seems awful. Rick thinks it's honorable that Glenn risks his life for others and supplies.
While Rick is talking about finding Lori and Carl, Lori walks away. Rick catches her and asks what is wrong. Lori reveals that she is pregnant.

Lori has told Rick she's pregnant. Rick asks if she is sure, and she confirms she is. Rick asks what they're going to do, and Lori says she's asking him. Allen asks if everything was okay, and Lori tells them all she's pregnant. Everyone is speechless and Allen says he doesn't know what to say. Rick says congratulations has worked for years. Allen apologizes and states his worry about giving birth in a world without doctors and hospitals, but Rick assures that this is still good news.
While Rick is extinguishing the fires, Dale comes to talk to him. Dale confides to Rick that he thinks the baby might be Lori's and Shane's. Rick asks Dale to drop it. Dale reminds Rick that he has been with them little over a month, and Rick yells at him not to say another word. Rick says they have had sex once and he can't dwell on it or his mind will go crazy. Dale apologizes and hugs him and recommends for Rick to get some rest.
At the road, they find a house but it's burned. Rick says they have to leave. While Glenn is filling up the gas tank, Dale screams and falls down in front of a frozen zombie. Dale confirms he's not bitten, and Glenn thinks the zombie is frozen. It moves and Glenn gets scared. Rick kills the zombie. Survivors learn the zombies freeze faster than normal humans. The group come across a group of houses enclosed by a fence, titled "Wiltshire Estates." The group proceeds to clear a house which leads them to think that they may have found a permanent sanctuary. They end up spending the night inside the cleared house. What they don’t notice is that a snow covered sign that reads “ALL DEAD DO NOT ENTER.”

Death of Donna First appearance of Otis
Rick wakes up in the new place the group has found, Wiltshire Estates. Rick calls for "Lori", and she tells him to be quiet so Carl won't wake up. Lori tells Rick she's been up a while. Rick says that the deaths of Jim, Amy and Shane must be hard on Carl. Lori exclaims she is sad that her baby will not know anything about the world they used to know, and Carl won't get a driver license or take a girl to a movie. Lori asks Rick if they'll ever be able to fix everything, but Rick doesn't know. Meanwhile, Carol and Tyreese get closer. Donna is thinking about Dale and Andrea. She thinks they both have something in common, they both lost someone important. It gives Donna hope when she sees them together. Lastly, she says they are really lucky and thinks she could be happy in their new home. Allen asks if she wants to have sex, and Billy and Ben asks what does it mean. Donna thinks that answered his question.
In the morning, Rick tells everyone to search the houses, and clear any possible zombies and search for food and supplies. They could also find more people hiding in the houses. Julie and Chris are staying in another house, and Rick thinks Andrea could stay with the children. Rick gathers up the teams and goes to get Tyreese a gun from RV.
Rick goes to get Tyreese a gun, and Allen hopes the houses are empty. Tyreese goes with Carol to see the yard of the house. Donna says Allen worrys too much. Suddenly, Rick discovers a sign which says "ALL DEAD DO NOT ENTER". He starts to run back to Wiltshire.
Meanwhile, Donna gets bitten by a roamer. Everyone returns and Rick tells everyone not to use their guns. Allen tells the roamers to go away, and Tyreese captures him and tells him there's nothing he can do. Allen starts to yell, and shoots with his pistol. Then the shots get the zombies attention.
Rick tells everyone to leave right now and goes to get Allen. Rick tells him to leave the place, but Allen wants to stay. Rick tells him to think about his children, and if they won't leave now, they're both dead. Allen comes into his sense and is ready to leave. Tyreese goes to get Dale and the others, and tells them to get their children. Tyreese runs upstairs to get Julie and Chris, and catches them trying to have sex.
Rick takes Allen into RV, and tells Lori, Donna is dead. Rick goes after Tyreese, and is able to get to the house. Tyreese tells Chris and Julie to get their clothes on. Rick gets to the house and tells they can't get out downstairs. Tyreese yells they have to go through the window. They discover the groundfloor is full of zombies, and Dale drives his RV through the zombie horde. Rick and the rest jump onto the RV's roof. The twins ask where is their mother. Allen starts to cry and tells them she's dead. The party stops for gas and Rick says he doesn't know what to say. Allen says he doesn't have to say anything.
Rick is worried about Allen, and Dale says they can't bring Donna back, and tells him to let Allen mourn. Dale knows how losing a wife feels like. Lori says they're almost out of everything. Carol wishes they could have picked up some food from Wiltshire. Rick, Glenn and Tyreese are checking a food shop, but they find nothing. Rick thinks they have to start hunting.
Rick tells the others that they have to get back before dark, even if they don't find food. If they hear a shot, Tyreese, Rick and Carl will come back as fast as they can. Carl wants to come too, and Rick tells him not to shoot unless he says so. Rick tells Lori she should keep an eye on Allen, he's worried he will hurt himself, or worse.
Tyreese asks what Rick thinks about Allen and Rick tells him what Allen was doing in Wiltshire, and doesn't know what's going though his mind. Rick doesn't know what to think after what happened to Shane. Tyreese tells him he heard the story from Carol. Rick overhears a voice and thinks somebody is after them, just then, a bullet goes through Carl.
Carl falls down and Tyreese asks who's shooting at them. A man, named Otis, tells them it was an accident. Rick becomes very angry as Otis apologizes profusely. Rick points his gun into his cheek and says he's going to kill him.

First appearance of Patricia and the Greene Family: Hershel,Lacey ,Arnold, Maggie, Billy, Rachel, and Susie.
After Carl is shot, Tyreese tells Rick he's alive. Rick asks what are they going to do now, and Tyreese tell him they have to stop the bleeding. Rick says they have to get back to Dale's RV, but the man who shot Carl, named Otis, says he lives on a farm where the owner was able to treat his son, when he was shot. Rick asks if he is able to treat Carl, and Otis says the farmer isn't a doctor but can do something. Otis says they should be able to get there quickly by foot. Rick and Tyreese roll Carl in Rick's coat, and Otis tells Tyreese where the farm is. Rick tells Tyreese to tell Lori there is nothing to worry about. Rick, Carl and Otis start heading to the farm. Tyreese arrives at the RV and tells everyone to start going. Meanwhile, Rick and Otis arrive at the farm. The farm owner tells everyone to get inside when he hears the news. While Otis and the farm owner are patching Carl up, everyone else arrives. Lori runs for Rick, and he says at least the bleeding has stopped. The farm owner, introduced as Hershel Greene, explains that Carl is unconscious, but still in good shape.
Inside the farm, Hershel tells everyone they are welcome until the boy heals. Hershel introduces his family and friends; oldest son Arnold, oldest daughter Lacey, another daughter Maggie, youngest son Billy, and twin sisters Rachel and Susie Greene. Also in the farm lives Otis and his girlfriend Patricia. Hershel asks Lacey to show the guests where they can stay. Allen announces that Billy, Ben and himself are going to sit this one out, and Andrea says she can take care of the boys by showing them the cows.
Lori and Rick are watching Carl. Rick says he's worried about him. Lori and Rick start to hug and tell each other they love each other.
Andrea tells Ben and Billy to go play with Carol and Sophia, and talks to Allen about his children, what he should think of. Allen starts to yell at her about him losing Donna. Andrea reminds Allen about her losses, and knows something about the grieving process. Andrea is just trying to help him, but Allen notes again his wife has just died. Andrea reminds him about her parents, Jim and Shane, and tells the group they need to deal with it. Allen says he's thinking about his children and how they will grow up without their mother. Allen tells Andrea to leave.
Hershel awakens Rick and tells him that his son is awake. Lori and Rick run to their son. Carl asks where his hat is. Rick asks if he feels any pain, and Carl notes his shoulder hurts. Lori tells him he's going to be okay. Carl says nobody better take his hat. Tyreese arrives to Carl's room and gives Carl his hat. Tyreese tells Rick that Otis is very sorry. While discussing Otis, Carl asks if someone shot him. Rick explains everything, and Carl says he's happy to meet new people. Also Carol and Sophia arrive at Carl's room. Everyone leaves Carl and Sophia alone. Sophia notes she's happy that Carl is okay, and kisses him on the cheek.
Dale takes Lori outside to talk. Dale says Rick is the backbone of the group, and that he's the one stable thing they have, and that they need him. Dale says he doesn't know if the baby is Rick's or Shane's but tells Lori not to tell Rick about this. They don't need Rick to crack.
At the dinnertable, Rick says to Hershel he's got quite the set up there, and wonders how he felt when he bumped into Rick's group and saw their canned food. Lori says she's going to take a plate for Carl before all the food has gone. Tyreese thinks the next guy he bumps into is going to be running a restaurant. While smalltalking, Glenn watches Carol jealously.
Outside, Maggie says she'll have sex with Glenn. Glenn is confused, and Maggie explains her boyfriend is probably dead. Maggie asks again if he wants to have sex. While Glenn and Maggie are leaving, Tyreese catches Julie and Chris grabbing each other behind the house. Tyreese tells Julie not to "dad" him, and tells them not to have sex, and reminds them what would happen if Julie gets pregnant. Tyreese leaves, and Chris tells Julie that he doesn't want to wait forever.
Hershel tells Rick about his former life, life before zombie-apocalypse. Hershel grew up with his father at the farm, but always wanted to be a veteranian. Hershel tells Rick about his wife who passed almost six years ago, and that his father's last wish was that Hershel could take care of the farm. Again, Hershel reminds Rick that he and the others can sleep in the RV, but Rick asks what about the barn. Hershel says he doesn't want to go there.
