Walking Dead #1. With rare BLACK MATURE READERS LABEL. This is the book that drew me back into collecting colecting comic books again a (20 year haitus) and the one responsible for all these CGC slabbed books that I now own! I figured..,,,ah I got number 1, that's all I need.....nope.....couldn't stop there....now I got to own them ALL...mmuuuuahhhhhh muuaaaahhhh (sinister laugh).
Anyways, great book. First appearance of Rick Grimes. a local police officer who wakes up from a coma and finds himself in a zombie apocalypse......the rest is history.
I love the comic book and the show and my goal is to collect the most unique high grade Walking Dead comic book collection...to include signatures, artist sketches, and all the variants. Here is my collection.....enjoy!

Issue #4. After barely surviving a zombie attack, Rick realizes that the camp is too vulnerable without firearms for defense. Rick and Glenn formulate a plan to go back into the City of Atlanta and obtain guns from a gun store. Lori protests Rick's idea, but agrees with his assessment. The problem is, the gun store is located deep inside a city where the zombie population is fairly high. We discover that humans can mask their scent from the dead by rubbing zombie body parts onto clothes and skin.
With zombie blood and gore rubbed on their clothes, Rick and Glenn made it to the gun store. They grabbed some guns and ammunition and threw them into a shopping cart, and exit the store. All is well until some unexpected rain spoiled the party. The rain washes away the zombie stink from Rick and Glenn and the zombies attack. Eventually, they make it out of the city with the guns and ammo....by the skin of their teeth.
Classic suspense!

Signature Series. Won this from Branget on eBay auction. The auction was a tough battle...lots of competition and in the end....my wallet was hurting big time after winning this prize!! Triple signed by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard. Double sketched by Moore and Adlard. Charlie Adlard drew an amazing sketch of Tyreese, I haven't seen one as cool as this since. Tony Moore did a nice detailed zombie sketch at the bottom. Both sketches are so detailed that they just blend into the cover, and at a glance, one would assume that those sketches are part of the original cover!
Issue 7 marks the the debut of Charlie Adlard as new artist for the series. Tony Moore ceases being the artist for the series, but continues to be the cover artist up until issue 24.
After the death of Shane, Rick becomes the official leader of this group. They are on the road and encounter a new character named Tyreese who strenghens the group with his amazing hammer zombie killing skills. This is the first appearance of Tyreese. Also, Lori reveals that she is pregnant; more drama to come!!

The farm is situated far away from a zombie infested city, has plenty of food and supplies, a large house and a large barn. It seems like a great place to regroup and possibly settle down.
Maggie is attracted to Glenn. Unabashed, she offers to have sex with him. Glenn agrees.

He fervently believes that these walkers are living humans who were simply infected with a disease that may be curable one day. Rick is shocked and disagrees. Hershel is shocked that the group had been killing these "poor victims". As guests, Rick didn't want to push Hershel any further.
The next day, the group is target shooting close to a neighboring farm. Lots of love and romance in this issue.....Glenn and Maggie get are caught sleeping together by Hershel and he isn't happy about it. Tyreese and Carol are in a budding relationship as are Dale and Andrea.
Rick approaches Hershel and requests that the rest of the group use the rest the rooms in the House. Hershel is offended that Rick would want his crew to take over the rest of his dead children's room and refuses. Hershel wants Rick and his people to leave the farm as soon as Carl is healed up. An angry Lori confronts Hershel, angry that he would kick them out into the dangerous world, especially when she is pregnant as she is. Rick jumps in between Hershel and Lori before things got physical. Hershel points his gun against Rick's head and orders him and the group to leave.
The group packs up and leaves the farm. Glenn decides to stay with Maggie at the farm.

Issue #15 has lots of death! Rick is awoken in the middle of the night to the sound of a gunshot. We find out that Chris and Julia were involved in some bizarre love/suicide pact with each other. Chris shoots her in the chest and she dies instantly, but also soon reanimates. Tyreese kills Chris by choking him again and again.
Rick realizes that everybody reanimates as a zombie after death, as long as the brain is intact; no zombie bite needed! He grabs his motorcycle and rides out to dig up the now zombified Shane. He gives Shane a final "death" with a gun shot to the brain.
Meanwhile at the prison, after cremating his daughter, Tyreese goes on a zombie killing rampage in one of the prison's uncleared wing....and survives.
Hershel's twin daughters (Rachael and Susie) went to the barber shop area to give themselves a haircut only to be beheaded by a mystery killer.
The story goes on......
