The saga of the Kree-Born Protector of the Universe…

When I was young, Captain Marvel was my favorite superhero comic, all the way up until Jim Starlin MURDERED him in 1982 (just kidding - his finale to Mar-Vell’s cosmic opus is arguably the best story of the Bronze Age).

I was in High School when MGN 1 came out, and I actually wept when I read it. I was disappointed, to say the least that my favorite character was truly dead. Didn’t help my comic buddies teased me about it every day…

To this day, Starlin remains my favorite artist/writer.

This set is an homage to arguably one of the most underrated heroes in Marvel’s history. I mean, sheesh! He saved the Galaxy numerous times, and was a guest star in many titles. He was even in a comic book Hostess Ad back in the late 70’s!
