The brilliant Jim Aparo took the cover work for Detective Comics 430 to a whole new level as to my mind he is the equal of Adams when it came to drawing the Batman.
The cover created by Aparo for this issue is amazing not only in context but also in layout and overall "feel."
I am quite certain that when I saw this issue at my favorite newsstand I was thinking "fantastic."
Keeper, until I locate a typical CGC graded 9.8 copy.
Image #2 is of the same comic book, a place holder that will be replaced with a scan or photograph of the back cover of this book.

As I wrote previously: "Detective Comics 437
I presently do not have a copy of Detective Comics 437 in this set. The CGC graded copy that I had in this set last year, although a 9.8 with white pages and having a description that read: The brilliant Jim Aparo created a cover for the ages with this beauty. This book should be part of every collection for the cover alone. I'll leave it at that. This book is the best CGC 9.8 graded copy of this issue as the cover has only a slight strip of white running along the left side!, never quite met my standards as it had a cover miswrap that bothered me. Thus, once I find a copy of Detective Comics 437 with perfect cover alignment I hope to add it to this set."
No longer applicable except for my OO copies of this issue: "Although my "search" for a CGC graded 9.8 copy of Detective Comics 437 continues, I was fortunate enough to find this very nice white-paged copy, despite the miswrap, of this issue and decided to purchase it in order to fill this long-empty set slot. If I had the time, I would attempt to find my OO copies, or one of the many that I have purchased over the years, and determine if any may garner a 9.8 (9.9 or 10.0, hopefully) from the folks at CGC. Unfortunately, that will have to wait."
Well, on Saturday, September 1, 2018 (purchased Friday, August 31) a CGC graded 9.8 copy of this issue reached this set. Although it has a cover miswrap, based on my experience all 9.8 copies of this issue appear to have the same issue, excuse the pun, with many CGC graded 9.4 and 9.6 copies not having that problem or not as "severe." Thus, to add a 9.8 copy of Detective Comics 437 to this set, "one" had to compromise, and I have. Welcome to the set 9.8!
Oh, yes, the brilliant Jim Aparo ...!
Issue Credits (as per the CGC Universal Label):
Archie Goodwin story
Jim Aparo and Walter Simonson art

What can be said about Detective Comics 440 that would do it justice? Perhaps not a word, but I'll attempt to do so.
To commence, the cover of this issue is simply astounding and, I believe, only the great Jim Aparo could draw it. Further, the colors selected for the cover could not be more perfect. Lastly, its a 100 pager!
This is another incredible issue of this incredible run.

The cover of Detective Comics 441 is one of my favorites of this run because it simply presents so well. In other words, I can't identify the reason why I like this cover so much; I "just do." Of course, the fact that it is a Jim Aparo cover clearly influences my perception of it.
My fondness for the cover may also have to do with the contents of the book which are "fabulous" and that the issue is a 100 pager. Whatever the reason/s, I like it and I humbly suggest you read this issue if you have not done so as it is, again, fabulous.
A CGC 9.8 graded copy of Detective Comics 441, with sharp corners, vibrant cover colors and gloss, etc., was added to this set on April 17, 2022. (Keeper, until I locate a typical CGC graded 9.8 copy.)

The cover of this issue is, in a word, AMAZING! I can only imagine that I was very pleased when I saw it on the shelf of my favorite newsstand as the action it presents is second to none.
As with all these Detective Comics 100 pagers, or in my biased view every issue of this run, the contents of the book are icing on the cake becasue despite containing reprints, in the case of 100 pagers, the stories enthralled me; and they still do.
I realize I am repeating myself, but read this issue is you have not done so because it is well worth it.
