Set Description:
This collection targets Universal Blue Label slabs for the entire run, in all printings and variants listed in the set.
While CGC has the entire run listed here, it's technically a little inaccurate:
- there's 2 issue 118s - The Display Variant (1st Print) and the 2nd Print with the larger logo.
- this Set includes an issue 19 variant (2nd Printing) which was produced long after the series had completed. While I own it and include it here, it's technically not part of the original run.
- Invincible Returns is included in a different Invincible Set, outside of this one. I understand that move, but it's technically issue 70.5 ;)
I like Universal Blue as it's the most minimal and most difficult of any collecting standard in the Invincible main run, mainly due to the rarity of the 128 Blank (it's hard to find with a sketch on it, even harder as a blank). I also really like having a collection of slabs that all match each other in label. I may do a yellow label collection at a future time, but for now, it's blue only.
Most importantly, cheers to everyone pushing the boundaries with any of Kirkman's work. The modern Stan Lee. What a time to be alive reading Kirkman's work and the great artists he has around him. It was the Walking Dead that introduced me to comics back in 2006/07, then Invincible.
From there I would begin my life buying up comic book lots sold on Craigslist. Within the slab domain, I've only started with Invincible. My favorite of all comics.
