I have always been interested in origin and 1st appearance issues. Showcase is just this, the theme being to feature new characters (however minor they might be) as to test their audience for popularity without having to risk the failure of starting a new series to go nowhere. The series ran from March 1956 to September 1970....reviving later for another 11 issues from 1977 to 1978. Some of the big first appearances are The Flash (SA), Challengers of the Unknown, Adam Strange, Space Ranger, Rip Hunter, Green Lantern (SA), Sea Devils, Atom (SA), Metal Men, Inferior Five, Creeper, Hawk and Dove to name a few. The covers also intrigue me. They don't seem rushed and appear to hold a story to capture the audience.
