THIS ONE.. A nemesis. ACCORDING TO DONAHUE, THIS IS A TRUE FIRST STATE! [I] BOUGHT THIS BOOK DIRECTLY FROM (AND BY FIRST-HAND) DON DONAHUE. *** I was living on Berkeley Way when I bought this comic from Don Donahue. I bought a Kennedy Guide Hardcover from Bud Plant, Inc. on a presolicitation announcement, and, not long thereafter (possibly just before), I had written to Don to request a Price list. Much of what he listed I had been targeting, and I was overwhelmed. "What do I start with?", I pondered. Being a good collector, I resolved to maintain my "collector's focus." So, I bought what I could as I went along. When Don still had 1st Printings of Mr. Natural #1, he was charging $75.. That's what I paid for this one. It was one of his priciest comic books. It wasn't much long after I bought this copy he SOLD OUT. ...just like the last of the first printings of Zap Comics #3, which I bought from Don for $24., which disappeared, shortly thereafter. I had bought Mr. Natural #2 1st printings for $35., and others, but I don't know what took me so long to buy a Mr. Natural #1 from Don. (To date, this is only one I have, or want.) *** ...back to Berkeley. I had a friend of mine tip me off when Scooby's Toys, on Adeline, Opened. One evening, Biff was out front talking to Don. That's how I met Don, standing there on the steps to his loft. I asked Don if I would be okay to "will-call" books I wanted to order, and Don said that would be okay, and if anything came up, he could leave them downstairs with Biff. Eventually, I got around to ordering a Mr. Natural #1, first printing. I rode on my bike and picked a few books one day. When I got home, and over a time, I compared that copy I recieved to what Kennedy listed. By the time I saw Don again, to pick up some more books, I asked him, about why this was a THIRD. He asked me if I had seen the Kennedy guide, and I told him that I had.
He noted that Kennedy had a ?, question mark, by the 3rd
(, but Don didn't mention the subsequent ?, question marks
on later printings, of course, I was ONLY asking about ..
THIS ONE!).
Then, I asked Don if he re-shot the cover for the Mr. Natural #1, 1st Printing, and he told me "Yes." I don't know why I didn't ask him WHY he re-shot the cover, but I took him for his word. (on later Don books, I've uncovered, art shot 'to the edge') Quickly, though, I did chime in with regards to circulation, asking him if there were less than 1,500 of these, but Don replied "... more, like 2,500." I was excited to hear this news from Don, but this book would come to stiffle me.
{Also, one will NOT find AS MANY [incorrect 3rds, as ANY OTHER. Also, THESE..., TRUE First Printings/TRUE First States ... SHOULD BE .. and SHOULD HAVE the LOWEST numbers in CENSUS and [circulation] POPULATION data!
There SHOULD BE a lot MORE '3rds' if we believe.... IF.. they DO look like this, THEN, TRUE FIRSTS will be the scarcest, and REAL THIRDS should out-number them (i.e., ...of 20,000)]}

So, taking Don's comments into consideration, these should not show as frequently as other Mr. Natural #1, "1st Printings." (This is the case for registered 3rds, jives with a re-shot print-run of 10,000.)
