Set Description:
It's finally finished thanks to so many great people who helped me complete this goal.
The first book I purchased was #4 from an online site, December 18th 2012 and the final book, #9, arrived from CGC this morning October 16th 2014. So just under 22 months.
I had so much help, and met so many awesome people here completing this set. The inspiration was the insane task Marvelfangirl started with her Wolverine s/s run. Too many people to thank came out of the woodwork and sent links to books and helped with leads. Rich Henn is a true beast when it comes to finding raw books in high grade, he did so much searching and found some true beauties in the wild, newsstands no less, including the one and only #30. Cheetah sold me his registry set and when I used the 8 books he had that I needed to combine the two sets, I was able to make the best looking set possible. With the help of Greggy as well who sold me a junky run of #1-3 that had nicer cuts than the ones I had or whatever.
letsgrumble traded me the second last book which was #34, and the very last book came from 69CamaroZ28. He sent me a raw copy of #9 on his own dime, in hopes of helping me finish the set.
At the risk of sounding Batscat crazy, I now pronounce myself the 'King of the Spiderwomen' !!!

"...A Future Uncertain!"
Spider-Woman is inside a grocery store after closing hours thinking of stealing food. She continues to contemplate what to do with her life and who she really is and decides not to steal. Sneaking out of the store, she is confronted by Jerry Hunt, who tries to stop her. However, Spider-Woman manages to escape, although Jerry manages to grab her mask and pull it off, and swears that he's seen her face before. Returning to the apartment that she lives in (all too aware of everyone's fear of her) Spider-Woman retires for the night.
She dreams of the brief time she spent with Modred the Mystic the Mystic and the facts about her past that he revealed: How she wasn't one of the New Men (as was thought by Otto Vermis), but a real girl: Jessica Drew, the daughter of Jonathan and Merriem Drew. They worked with Herbert Wyndham (later known as the High Evolutionary) on Wundagore Mountain. Jessica fell victim to radiation poisoning, and her father treated her. Her mother, however, would eventually die. Failing to find a cure for Jessica's condition, Jonathan would leave Wundagore, leaving Wyndham to try and find a cure for the girl's radiation poisoning. Infusing her with the DNA of a spider, he put her in suspended animation for years, slowing her aging process until she developed an immunity the radiation and would rise with the fantastic powers she would later use as Spider-Woman. The rest of Jessica's past was just as Vermis had told her.
The next day, Jessica tries to find a job, but during her job-hunting she is spotted once more by Jerry Hunt, who once more tries to stop her. Jessica changes into Spider-Woman and makes her escape. Deciding to disguise herself once more, she creates a new mask and dyes her hair black. Going out as Spider-Woman once more, she would later find Jerry trying to stop some crooks who are armed with hi-tech lasers. Jerry is injured in the fight, and Spider-Woman swoops in and comes to his rescue. Knocking out the crooks, she is soon confronted by officers of Scotland Yard, who Jerry tells to have her arrested.
Spider-Woman grabs the injured Jerry and flies away to a hospital, where she administers a blood transfusion giving him some of her fast-healing blood for a faster recovery. Spider-Woman leaves the scene, leaving Jerry to wonder at the truth behind this mysterious woman.

"Hell is the Hangman!"
Spider-Woman is pondering her lot in life, when she spots Brother Grimm attacking a car being driven by a diamond dealer. Confronting Brother Grimm, he blasts her off the side of a cliff. When she gets control of her gliding and swoops back up, she finds Grimm and the diamonds gone. The diamonds are given to one of Grimm's thugs, who has him plant them in another man's car, douse the unconscious driver with alcohol and dump him off a cliff. However, before he can complete his task, he's confronted by the Hangman, who is told of the scheme. After learning of the plot, the Hangman hangs the crook, and goes off to find Grimm.
The next day, as she is having lunch with Magnus, Priscilla Dolly and her boys, Jessica learns that her father Jonathan briefly boarded in their home, and that William Dolly worked at Pyro-Technics with him. She explains to them that Jonathan is her father, and that he was murdered and she is looking for his killer. When Jessica presses William for more answers, he excuses himself from the table.
Changing into her Spider-Woman costume, Jessica decides to go and check out the connection between her father, Pyro-Technics, and Senator James Wyatt. Wyatt, meanwhile, dismisses his wife and begins making calls to try and eliminate Spider-Woman, while elsewhere Jerry Hunt has arrived in Los Angeles and has begun asking around to see if people have seen Spider-Woman.
As Spider-Woman breaks into the Pyro-Technics building to find more clues, the Hangman attacks one of Brother Grimm's safe houses, and demands that the crooks there tell him everything. Back at Pyro, Jessica accidentally stumbles into a wind tunnel device. She almost gets chopped up in the fan, but thanks to her superhuman strength, she manages to destroy the device. Tracking down William Dolly, she tries to get him to tell her what he knows about Jonathan Drew, but she is attacked by Brother Grimm. During the fight a blaze sparks up, and before Spider-Woman can stop Brother Grimm, she's roped up by the Hangman.
The Hangman has decided to "save" Spider-Woman from Brother Grimm, and leaves the villain to perish in the blaze while he drags the hog-tied Spider-Woman out of the complex. As the building explodes, the Hangman tells her that he will keep her safe forever, in his very own dungeon.

He tells her that he has brought her here to keep her safe from a society that craves violence and lawlessness, made popular in movies. When he then leaves Jessica alone, she easily frees herself and begins trying to find a way out of the Hangman's home.
Spider-Woman is startled when a mirror shows a reflection of a skeletal version of herself in her costume. This is the first of many hauntings which Spider-Woman experiences in this house. She is soon caught in a spider-web and is stalked by an evil spirit taking the form of Jerry Hunt that transforms into a spider. Meanwhile, at the boarding house that Jessica shares with Magnus, Magnus has a conversation with Priscilla Dolly about her late husband and what he did for a living.
Back at the haunted house, Jessica manages to escape from the Jerry Hunt apparition, only to be stalked by one taking on the form of Magnus. She fares no better against this one, which manages to knock her out. When she revives, she finds herself in a strange dungeon. Traveling through it, she is attacked by animated suits of armor. Fighting off these suits, she soon finds the room flooded with water, but manages to break free. Finding herself in another room of the house, she sees what appears to be Magnus tied up to a chair. "End of a Nightmare!!"
Morgan le Fay and her two demon-barbarians attack the helpless Magnus as he remains bound to a chair. Spider-Woman drives the demons away with several venom blasts, but is powerless to fight Morgan, as she currently exists on the astral plane. Morgan wants the Darkhold, but Spider-Woman has no idea where it is. However, in order to save Magnus' life, she agrees to search for it.
While Spider-Woman embarks upon her journey, Magnus surrepticiously sends a psychic command to S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jerry Hunt. Hunt suddenly feels the urge to leave his office and resume his search for Spider-Woman.
Spider-Woman meanwhile, learns that a young man named Jack Russell (also known as the Werewolf by Night) once possessed the Darkhold. She goes to his apartment at Colden House, just as the full moon begins to rise. Jack tries to warn her away, but it is too late. He transforms into the Werewolf and attacks Spider-Woman. He chokes her until she falls unconscious, then lumbers off into the night. Jessica quickly revives and follows the Werewolf onto the city streets. She manages to lay him low with a concentrated venom blast and brings him back to Morgan le Fay's keep.
As she arrives with the unconscious Werewolf, Jerry Hunt shows up as well. Magnus attempts to combat Morgan on the astral plane, but she defeats him by destroying his physical body. She then turns her power against Jerry.
Morgan then realizes that she will increase her own capabilities by assuming a corporeal form. She opens up a time window to 12th century Camelot where her physical body lies sleeping. She begins a process to transplant her 20th century astral self into her chronologically older body, but Spider-Woman sends a venom blast through the portal, destroying her sleeping form. The paradox creates a time vortex that violently pulls Morgan le Fay away from this dimension. With Morgan's presence eliminated, her castle disappears.
Suddenly, Magnus walks up to Jessica and Jerry. He reveals that he faked his own demise in order to keep Morgan distracted. However, doing so greatly diminished his magic powers. As Magnus continues to mutter to himself, Jessica and Jerry embrace one another.

"July 4, 1978"
After an outing at a zoo, Jerry Hunt informs Jessica Drew that they can use SHIELD's computers to try and figure out who killed her father. Consulting the devices (in spite of her friend Magnus's reservations about the idea) the computer comes up with the answer: Pyrotechnics. While at a Pyrotechnics meeting that night, Senator James Wyatt tells the other members of the board that Spider-Woman must be destroyed, unaware that the building is being staked out by both Spider-Woman and Jerry Hunt. When Wyatt leaves the building, Spider-Woman follows after him while Jerry infiltrates the Pyrotechnics building to try and learn what the company is up to.
Spider-Woman follows Wyatt's car to a nearby military base, where she overhears Wyatt talking to one of the commanding officers about an injection of some kind. She decides to leave the scene to follow up with Jerry, believing that she will get caught if she hangs around for too much longer. Meanwhile, Jerry, having successfully broken into the Pyrotechnics building, begins to snoop around. Taking on the guise of a security guard, Jerry manages to take pictures of Pyrotechnic's files and hear a bit more about the company's plans as well before departing back to home base.
Back at the boarding house where Jessica stays with Magnus, the trio compare notes. They deduce that shortly after Jonathan Drew abandoned Jessica and left her in the care of Herbert Wyndham, he would travel to London, then on to America where he would work for Pyrotechnics. When Magnus deduces that perhaps he was being held against his will and later murdered by the company when his usefulness ran out, Jessica pieces it together and abruptly leaves the two men behind.
She attacks Senator Wyatt at his home and demands answers, revealing that Jonathan Drew was her father. She learns that the chairmen of Pyrotechnics are planning some kind of attack on July 4th. When she confronts the board members at the Pyrotechnics' office, she's knocked out by Brother Grimm, who has arrived to collect money. When Jessica revives, she finds herself sealed in a armored truck. Wyatt gloats about how they had her father's perfect serum that would make their soldiers immune to radiation so that they can deploy a neutron device and seize control of the United States.
Before they can launch their scheme, Wyatt's compound is raided by a SHIELD unit led by Jerry Hunt. Fighting his way into the control room (where Jessica frees herself) Jerry guns down Wyatt before he can activate the device and kill both of them. As Wyatt dies, he tells Jerry and Jessica that he wanted power and wealth, he also admits to murdering Jonathan Drew. Before dying, he pushes the self-destruct button on the base, forcing Jerry and Spider-Woman to flee as quickly as possible.
Escaping, they return to the SHIELD outpost, where they inform Nick Fury of Senator's Wyatt's plot. Fury explains that they are rounding up the rest of Wyatt's men. When Fury asks Jessica how she feels now that she has learned who killed her father, she explains that she is happy because she also found a man she loves at the same time.

"Eye of the Needle"
After a night out with Jerry Hunt, Jessica Drew refuses to let him drive her home, opting instead to glide home as Spider-Woman. Jerry, left alone in his thoughts, overhears a scream, and goes to the person's aid. There he comes face to face with a costumed being known as the Needle. Pulling a gun on the Needle, Jerry soon finds himself paralyzed when the Needle makes eye contact, and is helpless when the Needle stitches his mouth shut and then flees.
The next day, Jessica is informed by Priscilla Dolly that Jerry is in the hospital. When Jessica rushes there, she learns about what happened. In spite of Jerry's protests, she decides to go out and investigate as Spider-Woman. That night, she goes out on patrol looking for the Needle. However, she doesn't find any sign of him until it's too late, and only finds one of his latest victims.
The next day, Jerry is released from the hospital, and he gives Jessica flack for going out after the Needle alone. Both agree to tackle him together. That night, as the Needle prepares to make his next nightly appearance, he reflects how he was just a mild-mannered elderly tailor until he was beat senseless by thugs. In the hospital he developed an ability to stun with his one good eye and upon his release from the hospital, he took on the guise of the Needle to get revenge on the kind of people who made him a victim.
When he strikes again, Jerry and Spider-Woman are there to stop him. When Jerry is stunned, Spider-Woman steps in to stop the Needle. During the fight, she too is stunned by the Needle's gaze. However, Jessica manages to snap out of it before the Needle has a chance to stitch her mouth shut. She then easily defeats the Needle by knocking him out with a powerful venom blast. When the police arrives, Spider-Woman flees the scene. Later, back in her civilian guise, she watches with Jerry as the Needle is taken into police custody.

"Things that go Flit in the Night"
Out on a romantic evening by the beach with Jerry Hunt, Jessica Drew spots a strange woman with wings flying above them. This prompts her to change into Spider-Woman and try to go after the woman. However, the strange moth-like girl gets away. Returning to Jerry, Jerry is very upset that Jessica went chasing yet another "freak", and calls it a night and takes her home.
Returning to the boarding house she shares with her friend Magnus, Jessica asks their landlady Priscilla Dolly if she's seen her "uncle" around, Dolly tells her that Magnus got a job as a stage magician. Going up to her room, Jessica finds a new dress purchased for her by Magnus and an invite to an exclusive party that Magnus has been invited to.
Going to the party, Jessica finds that Magnus has made himself quite popular very quickly, but finds herself more or less ignored by the party-goers. When Jessica sees the moth-woman again, she is shocked to see that she has some sort of powers that allow her to control thread, as she uses it to turn some of the female party-goers' dresses into cocoons. Not wishing to let this girl get away, Jessica has Magnus turn her party dress into her Spider-Woman costume and chases after her.
Engaging the super-powered woman, who reveals herself to be Gypsy Moth, Jessica is attacked by her strange powers. She finds that this woman is not friendly in the least, and is not interested in doing more than fighting. Gypsy Moth uses her powers to make thread from other people's clothing to wrap Spider-Woman up in a thread cocoon and dump her in the pool. However, Jessica breaks free and battles the Gypsy Moth again. Jerry arrives and fires a shot at the Gypsy Moth, hitting one of her wings. Realizing that the wings are part of the Moth's body, Jessica stuns Jerry with a venom blast and takes Gypsy Moth out of there. She decides that to let the Gypsy Moth go, since she didn't really do anything wrong, and isn't interested in making friends, and so Spider-Woman slinks away before the Moth can revive.
Later, Jessica is reunited with Jerry, and the two have another argument about what exactly it was that Jessica was doing.
