Set Description
In the midst of Dark Reign across the Marvel Universe this mini-series was a heroic shift to the stories being told. In most titles Norman Osborne's team of Dark Avengers was causing grief to past heroes everywhere, from Ms. Marvel to Wolverine.
In this series Bruce Banner and Thundra's teenage daughter from the future give the Dark Avengers more than they can handle. Each issue is action packed and filled with new ideas on this take on the new Savage She-Hulk character.
This mini-series sets the stage for backup stories in the Incredible Hulk ongoing series that feature Lyra, the Savage She-Hulk, as well as kicking off two more mini-series starring the character (Fall of the Hulks: Savage She-Hulks and She-Hulks, along with the Sensational She-Hulk, Jen Walters).
The covers of this series provide some expected and some unique challenges. The first issue is a classic homage to the first-ever Hulk cover, Incredible Hulk #1. There is a second print of this cover with the title character in fierce action. Issue #2's cover shows Lyra down the street as viewed from behind and through the Sensational She-Hulk's legs. This issue appears to have had some production issues and so far defect free versions of the cover have been hard to come by. Issue #3 is also difficult to find in high quality but for a different reason...it features a great falling while fighting image of Lyra facing Wolverine's son Dakken. With so many famous Hulk/Wolverine encounters this is marks the first time one of the Hulk's children faced one of Wolverine's (a few months later Skaar would face Dakken as well). There is also an 80's variant cover featuring a retro-style big-hair Lyra. Issue #4 takes on a different style entirely but with great effect displays the nature of the Savage battles within.
