Set Description
Since my return to comic collecting in 2005 I have been scouring the Internet in search of the highest graded copies of this series featuring my favorite Marvel character, Hercules (as well as Black Widow, Angel, Iceman & Ghost Rider. Darkstar & Black Goliath become reserves later on). The series is set after Daredevil & the Widow break-up, Angel & Iceman leave the X-men, Hercules ends his team-up with Thor and goes on a West Coast lecture circuit (seriously, see Thor #239). Ghost Rider was added to capitalize on the popularity of 70's horror/mysticism and was re-introduced and modernized a few years prior. No it's not the Avengers or even the Defenders but this rag tag band of 70's heroes broke the mold of the Marvel Universe by being based in LA instead of NY. The series also featured early artwork by John Byrne & writing by Chris Claremont in the later issues. There’s even some Jack Kirby cover art. Although short lived and under appreciated, this series will always hold a special place in my collection.
