I still remember back sometime in the late '80, going to Winnipeg, Manitoba for Christmas and stoping at a comic book shop. There, we found the first 10-12 issues in the series (that I still have). Dad reluctantly bought the ones that I needed and said it would be part of my Christmas presents. He spent close to $50.00 for them. The first issue I remember buying was #9 from the local grocery store.
Synopsis: "The Transformers"
On the Saturn-sized mechanical world of Cybertron, life has evolved not through carbon bonding, but via "naturally-occurring gears, levers, and pulleys". The resultant sentient robots, the Autobots, live in peace for many eons, until some of their number fall victim to a lust for power. Rallying behind the banner of the powerful Megatron, these "Decepticons" rebuild their bodies, allowing them to change at will between a humanoid form and the form of various war machines. The Decepticons unleash a furious war on the Autobots, intending to conquer the planet and rebuild it as a cosmic dreadnought.
Faced with annihilation, the Autobots turn to a noble leader from their own ranks: Optimus Prime. Under his leadership, the Autobots, also now gifted with the ability to "transform", rally and counterattack. And thus, an all-consuming war rages across the planet for a thousand years, while the planet itself—dislodged from its orbit by the titanic battles—spins out of control through the cosmos.
Eventually Cybertron enters another solar system and is faced with destruction as it approaches an asteroid belt. Aboard a huge spacecraft dubbed the Ark, Optimus Prime leads a team of Autobots on a mission to clear a path through the asteroids. After the mission is completed, the Decepticons attack the weakened Autobot warriors. Facing inevitable defeat, Optimus Prime sends the Ark on a suicide course into a supposedly lifeless planet. The crash renders all the combatants inert.
Four million years later, a volcanic eruption reactivates the Ark's dormant computer, which finds the planet now teaming with mechanical "life". It reactivates the ship's passengers, rebuilding them to resemble the planet's natives. Damaged, the computer does not recognize friend from foe, and thus both factions are restored to life. After checking themselves over, the Decepticons flee for other parts, leaving the Autobots to make their home in the crashed Ark. Observing the planet, Optimus notes that they must work to save the planet from the Decepticons, whom they've accidentally unleashed upon it.
Optimus Prime sends a team of five, under the command of Prowl, to scout out the new world and make contact with the natives. En route, they are sighted by Decepticon spy Laserbeak. The Autobots mistake a drive-in movie theater for some kind of religious ritual; Bumblebee over-enthusiastically nudges a "native", violently jostling its teenage occupants Buster, Jesse and "O". As Buster and the others climb out to see what happened, the Decepticons attack, intent on keeping their foes from establishing an alliance with the planet's natives. The Autobots reluctantly transform and defend themselves, turning the drive-in into a battlefield. During the battle, Prowl realizes that the automobiles are not alive at all, but the small, pink creatures fleeing from them are; the Autobots retreat to draw the Decepticons' fire away from the apparently defenseless fleshlings.
During the battle, Buster hears the damaged Bumblebee cry out in pain, and ends up "driving" him away from the battlefield. That night, his father "Sparkplug" finds him tinkering with the yellow Volkswagen Beetle in his garage. He's delighted that his son is finally showing some interest in mechanics, but not so amused when the car cries out that it needs help, because it's dying...

The inclusion of Spider-Man in Transformers #3 was Jim Salicrup's idea in order to bolster sales.
Synopsis: "Prisoner Of War"
The Decepticons bring Sparkplug Witwicky to their fortress and Megatron deliberates internally on Starscream's loyalty. The Decepticons demand that Sparkplug create a method to convert gas into fuel compatible with their forms. A Korean War vet, Sparkplug equates his capture to his time spent as a POW in Korea and refuses, until he's forcefully persuaded.
Back at the Witwicky garage, Buster and his friends are wondering what to do next. Optimus Prime orders everyone back to the Ark for fuel and repairs, inviting Buster along the ride. When they arrive, he marvels at the size of the Autobots' headquarters.
Soundwave, Rumble and Starscream are out stealing components for Sparkplug's fuel conversion process, and their crime spree attracts attention from the press and world governments. As camera crews and the military surround the Decepticon fortress, photojournalist Peter Parker decides to switch to his alter ego Spider-Man in order to get some better shots of the action. He runs into Gears, and after a short tussle Gears proves that he's a good guy when he saves a crowd of humans from getting squashed flat by a tank. The Autobots team up with Spider-Man to break through the line of reporters and soldiers, and an all-out battle breaks out between the Decepticons and the Autobots.
Meanwhile, Gears and Spider-Man are making their way into the fortress. After a short scrap with Ravage, Gears and Spider-Man break in and steal Sparkplug from under Megatron's nose. The Decepticon leader shoots out the floor beneath them, and while Spider-Man saves Sparkplug, Gears' weight breaks the web Spider-Man tried to save him with and he plummets to the earth below.
On their return to the Ark, Buster and Sparkplug are reunited and the Autobots say goodbye to Spider-Man. Ratchet brings Gears back to a functional level and he informs the Autobots that the Decepticons got what they wanted out of Sparkplug. Dad, say it ain't so!

Introduction
Marvel's The Transformers was initially solicited as "a four-issue limited series" on the cover of issues one to four. Then it was changed to an ongoing series with issue five due to overwhelmingly positive reception and solid sales.
Synopsis: "The Last Stand"
Some of the Autobots accuse Sparkplug Witwicky of betraying them by giving the Decepticons the fuel conversion they needed. Panicked, Sparkplug and his son attempt to escape, but when Jazz blocks their path with a wall of flame, Sparkplug suffers a heart attack. He is rushed to the hospital by Ratchet and Buster.
Huffer tells Optimus Prime about a discovery he made in the Ark's memory banks: Just after the ship crashed, its barely functional computers detected the Decepticon Shockwave arriving on Earth in pursuit. With the last of its power, the Ark modified five Autobot warriors to combat him, thus creating the Dinobots. They traveled in a shuttle to the Savage Land to confront Shockwave, at which point contact was lost. Huffer has Ratchet dispatch a probe to search for the lost Dinobots.
At the hospital, Sparkplug undergoes emergency treatment and dreams of his Army service in Korea, where he was forced to repair North Korean vehicles. He further recalls sabotaging those vehicles...
With no new fuel sources forthcoming, the remaining Autobots are forced to make a desperate gamble to fight the Decepticons one last time. All the Autobots sacrifice their remaining fuel resources to Optimus Prime, Huffer, Ironhide, Bluestreak, and Mirage. These five prepare to fight the Decepticons within the volcano that the Ark has crashed into, as the Decepticons arrive to destroy the Autobots once and for all.
In the Savage Land, Huffer's probe has found something and starts to dig it out—until a giant purple hand crushes it...
Although the Decepticons begin to win the battle by virtue of their greater numbers, at the moment of apparent victory, the Decepticons all fall, writhing in internal agony. As he reveals to Buster at the hospital, Sparkplug had corrupted the fuel he provided to the Decepticons, and they are now poisoned. Optimus Prime proclaims the debt that they, and the entire world, owe to Sparkplug Witwicky.
But suddenly, a gigantic blast from above knocks out all the Autobot troops... and Shockwave stands supreme!

Within the Ark, Shockwave observes a number of human television programs, and judges Earth's natives as quite primitive. As he walks past the deactivated Autobots, now strung from the ceiling for use as spare parts, he concludes that conquest of the planet "will be a simple task indeed."
Elsewhere in the vessel, the poisoned Decepticons are being revived. Shockwave explains to Megatron that, in light of this humiliating defeat, his leadership was clearly faulty, and it is only logical for Shockwave to take command. The weakened Megatron is in no condition to disagree... yet. Shockwave flies off to undertake his first conquest.
Meanwhile, as Sparkplug recovers from his heart attack, he makes Buster promise not to have anything more to do with the Transformers. Ratchet takes Buster back to the Ark to say his good-byes, only to discover that the Decepticons have taken over. Buster convinces Ratchet to stay outside while he sneaks in to investigate. Buster discovers the deactivated Autobots and despairs. When he realizes that Optimus Prime is not among them, he holds out hope, only to have that hope destroyed when he discovers Prime's detached head located in another room. Prime, still functional, informs Buster that he is the Autobots' last hope.

Shockwave single-handedly attacks a high-tech oil rig belonging to industrialist G.B. Blackrock. The rig's defenses are largely ineffective, and Shockwave quickly conquers the platform. During the attack, electronics designer Josie Beller is severely injured.
Meanwhile, inside the Ark, Optimus Prime's still-living head instructs Buster to connect two wires from Prime's forehead to Buster's own. This results in an electric shock, knocking Buster unconscious. However, he remains unnoticed by the Decepticons, and returns to Ratchet to report his findings.
Megatron is still fuming when Shockwave announces his conquest to the other Decepticons. Unable to control his temper, he breaks free from his repair systems, and attacks Shockwave, blasting him across the Oregon landscape and into Vallemont school. But Megatron's injuries are not healed, leaving him vulnerable. Shockwave quickly defeats him, but refuses to grant him an honorable warrior's death, saying he has more value alive than dead... for now.
As witnessed by Ratchet and Buster, Shockwave returns to the Ark carrying Megatron's injured form. Shockwave uses the broken ex-leader as a demonstration to the other Decepticons of what they can expect if they challenge him... while outside, Ratchet and Buster huddle in despair.

Walking through the woods in search of a road to drive Buster home, Ratchet and Buster meet up with a group of campers. As Ratchet demonstrates a new way to cook hot dogs, Buster experiences a severe head pain as an after-effect of his experience with Optimus Prime. Buster is taken home by the campers, leaving Ratchet free to deal with bigger problems.
Soundwave and Laserbeak use their innocuous alternate forms to infiltrate and take over another Blackrock Enterprises installation, this time an aerospace plant that builds jet fighters. Blackrock breaks the news to a hospitalized Josie Beller, who apparently designed this aerospace plant as well. Blackrock swears that the giant robots will be stopped, but Josie is already making plans of her own.
Ratchet returns to the Ark alone to verify Buster's findings, and soon finds the inert Autobots. He despairs upon finding the head of Optimus Prime, but Prime counsels him to fight as a warrior to defeat Megatron. Uncertain of what this might mean, Ratchet agrees.
Jessie and "O" attempt to cheer up Buster, who is wondering how to handle his father's flagging car repair business while he's recovering in the hospital. Buster explodes at the pair when they suggest that he can learn to repair cars just as easily as his hard-working father. After they leave, Buster is gripped by another head-splitting pain—and recovers to realize that several metal objects nearby were apparently floating in the air.
Ratchet soon finds Megatron, who easily overpowers him. But he manages to strike a deal, sealed with the sacred Rite of Oneness: Ratchet will destroy Shockwave, in exchange for the return of the Ark and the Autobots inside. If he fails, Megatron will destroy him; if he succeeds, Megatron resumes his leadership of the Decepticons and wins regardless.

Ratchet journeys by shuttle to the Savage Land to locate the Dinobots, who fought Shockwave there shortly after the Ark crash-landed on Earth four million years ago. He uses his M.A.R.B. to locate Cybertronian life deep in a tarpit. After a lot of digging, he locates Slag, and uses a memory probe to view the Dinobots' battle with Shockwave, and their subsequent entombment. Slag awakens and, after recognizing Ratchet as an Autobot, readily agrees to help finish the job they'd started: destroying Shockwave.
Shockwave checks in on Megatron, who has been left to guard the Ark alone. Megatron has prepared the head of Optimus Prime for transport to the aerospace plant recently captured by the Decepticons; Shockwave is pleased and comments that he may have to raise his odds-of-having-to-destroy-Megatron calculations.
Shockwave returns to the plant with Optimus Prime's head, effortlessly defeating an Army force that has surrounded the plant. Within, he prepares to begin the construction of a new generation of Decepticons, using the Matrix program within Prime.
Ratchet contacts Megatron, and shows him video footage of the Dinobots defeating Shockwave. With his end of the bargain fulfilled, he arranges for Megatron to meet him on a nearby mountain. When Ratchet arrives, Megatron promptly threatens to kill him. This breaks the bargain... and the hidden Dinobots burst forth from the snow. Turns out Ratchet knew Megatron wouldn't hold up his end of the Rite of Oneness, and the video was from the Dinobots' tussle with Shockwave four million years ago.
But despite the Dinobots' power, Megatron beats them all, leaving Ratchet to face him alone once more. Determined to fight like a warrior, even to the death, Ratchet tries to carry them both over a cliff edge. Though Megatron doesn't budge, the impact weakens the cliff beneath him, and Megatron is sent tumbling away. He transforms into his gun mode in a desperate effort to survive, but disappears into the snow and is not seen again. With Megatron thus defeated, the Ark and the Autobots are free.
Meanwhile, Josie Beller, a series of printed circuit strips laced onto her arm, fires an energy bolt that destroys her hospital room's television. She speculates that she's about ready to check out...

G.B. Blackrock, driving practice laps on a race track, is interrupted by General Capshaw, who expresses concern over Blackrock's plans to unveil a new weapon designed to destroy the Transformers. Blackrock shrugs him off, and goes to visit Josie Beller in her hospital room to update her on the situation. She, in turn, shows Blackrock some technology she's been working on from her hospital bed, causing Blackrock to worry that she may put herself in another dangerous situation in her desire for revenge against the robots who crippled her.
These fears are warranted when Josie escapes from her hospital room, and shows up in Blackrock's office that night, revealing herself as Circuit Breaker, wearing a metal suit designed to compensate for her damaged nervous system and granting her offensive capability against any mechanical form. Blackrock orders her to forget the whole thing and get back to the hospital; Circuit Breaker ignores him and says she's going to do what she has to.
The Autobots have been revived after their imprisonment aboard the Ark, with Prowl in command. They seek a new solution to their fuel shortage, and Jazz takes Wheeljack and goes to strike a deal with G.B. Blackrock. Kidnapping the billionaire, Jazz offers to provide him with protection from the Decepticons in exchange for fuel. After a few confused moments, Blackrock agrees.
Starscream is feeling mutinous after receiving word that the Autobots are online again and that Megatron has disappeared. Shockwave sends him and Frenzy to destroy Blackrock's weapon, allowing them to blow off some steam.
Sparkplug Witwicky's customers are also feeling mutinous, as Buster can only offer fumbling excuses and delays while his father remains in the hospital. Despite tinkering with the automobiles in for repairs, it's all a mystery to him. But another headache-seizure grips him, and in a flash, everything becomes clear—the structure, the problem, everything. Buster repairs an engine block with merely a thought.
Later that day, the unveiling of Blackrock's Anti-Robot Photonic Multi-Cannon is sabotaged by Circuit Breaker, in an effort to get him to announce her as his intended weapon. The Decepticons attack just then. Jazz and Wheeljack transform, intending to make good on their promise to provide Blackrock with protection; but Circuit Breaker, unable to discern between Autobot and Decepticon, severely injures Wheeljack. Between her and Jazz, the Decepticons are driven off, though Jazz is damaged. Although Circuit Breaker spares Jazz at Blackrock's pleading, she destroys his weapon, and severs her ties with him. Blackrock fears she is the only one to have truly lost the day's battle...

Shockwave succeeds in creating the first of his new generation of Decepticons—the Constructicons. They immediately depart with Soundwave on their first mission, to build a transdimensional radiowave scrambler with which to contact their home planet of Cybertron.
Prowl gives G.B. Blackrock a tour of the Ark. Along the way, they encounter the homesick Huffer, who's been focused on repairing the interstellar comm system instead of his primary assignment. Blackrock offers the Autobots a way to spy on the Decepticons within Blackrock's aerospace plant using a bugged telephone system. Using this system, they learn of the Constructicons' mission, and send a team to intercept them.
Elsewhere, Sparkplug Witwicky returns home from his heart attack, and is surprised to find that Buster has actually cleared out the repair shop's entire backlog of automobiles. Buster wonders how to explain to his father his recent experience with Optimus Prime, and the subsequent powers he's gained.
Near the site of the Constructicon project, trucker Bomber Bill looks forward to a return home after a long assignment, but his truck is stolen by the Constructicons as raw material for the scrambler. Determined to get home, Bomber Bill attempts to follow the thieves, and meets the Autobots on the way. Huffer offers a lift to the human.
The Autobots attack the Constructicons, who reveal their ability to combine into the super-robot, Devastator. The others distract the slow-witted giant, but Huffer hesitates to destroy the scrambler, which he sees as a rare chance to contact home. The delay is enough time for Soundwave to charge the scrambler and begin sending his signal to Cybertron; Bomber Bill destroys the scrambler, but most of Soundwave's message goes through. Their mission accomplished, the Decepticons retreat. Huffer thanks Bomber Bill for his help, but laments that while the trucker can go home now, he can't.
At the aerospace plant, Shockwave discovers that Optimus Prime may no longer possess the Creation Matrix. If this proves true, Shockwave no longer has any reason to allow Prime to live. The Autobots, listening in from the Ark, are helpless.

Synopsis "Brainstorm!"
Buster is still confused by his new powers, but conceals the secret of them from his father. Jessie comes around looking to patch things up, and the two go for a bike ride.
At Blackrock Aerospace Assembly Plant Number One, Optimus Prime has not yet given life to Shockwave's latest soldier, Jetfire. Shockwave suspects that Optimus Prime no longer possesses the Creation Matrix, and sets about discovering what has happened to it by probing the memories of Rumble. This leads him straight to Buster.
The Autobots are listening in on this discovery, and send Bumblebee and Bluestreak to protect Buster. The Autobots first visit Sparkplug at his garage, and explain the danger. Sparkplug wants nothing more to do with the Autobots, and refuses to help; but when he goes to find Buster himself, Bluestreak and Bumblebee tail him back to Buster and Jessie.
This unfortunately leads the Decepticons right to their location as well. Bluestreak easily defeats the spying Laserbeak, but Shockwave dispatches the pre-programmed Jetfire to retrieve Buster. While Jetfire makes short work of the Autobots, Bumblebee realizes that Jetfire is not alive, and that Buster can control the Decepticon jet. Revealing his secret, Buster disassembles Jetfire with a thought. Bumblebee and Buster make plans to use Jetfire to aid in the rescue of Optimus Prime.
Shockwave announces his intention to terminate Optimus Prime. An Autobot convoy is already on the way; they can only hope they are not too late.

Synopsis "Prime Time!"
Buster commands Jetfire to take him to the Decepticons, in hopes of rescuing Optimus Prime. Unfortunately, Buster is knocked unconscious during an encounter with human aircraft, and he becomes the Decepticons' prisoner as Jetfire reverts to his original mission of capturing him. Shockwave hooks Buster up to his machines with the intention of using the Creation Matrix inside the human to create his new army.
An oncoming Autobot convoy speeds its way to Shockwave's base of operations, also known as Blackrock Aerospace Assembly Plant Number One. They are bringing with them Optimus Prime's body with the intention of rescuing his head from the Decepticons. Jetfire appears above and drops what seems to be the head of Optimus Prime into the swamp near them. Once the head is reattached to the body, Prowl extends his hand to his leader, and Prime responds by shooting Prowl right in the chest. He then blasts through the rest of the assembled Autobots. Soundwave and the Cassettes arrive on scene and reveal that Prime is working with them now. The head was a fake!
At the plant, Buster is able to use the Creation Matrix to control Jetfire once more, who quickly overpowers Shockwave and returns to the swamp with the real head of Optimus Prime. When in range, Optimus yanks the fake head off his shoulders and reattaches his real head. The tables are quickly turned back in the Autobots' favor as Prime smashes apart Soundwave and his minions.
Recovered and seeing that Optimus Prime's real head is gone, Shockwave transforms and seeks out Prime in order to finish him off personally. They fight and Optimus throws Shockwave into the swamp where he sinks, helpless. The Autobots plead with Optimus to blast the Decepticon and finish him once and for all, but Prime, fearing for Buster's safety, rushes back to the plant.
Once there, he finds that Buster has been released by the human workers and the other Decepticons have fled. He takes back the Creation Matrix from Buster and mulls over the fact that innocent human lives are in danger because of their war.

A small-time loser named Joey Slick flees through the woods, attempting to escape from thugs trying to kill him. He stumbles across a gun in a stream, but it doesn't work... until the two laughing thugs tell it to blast them, which it does.
Retreating to an empty warehouse, Joey soon discovers that his gun is a Transformer called Megatron. Megatron is unable to think for himself, due to damage from his fall during his battle with Ratchet, and can only respond to what he is told or asked.
Crime lord Jake Lomax, the gangster who sent the thugs after Slick because of an unpaid debt, is incensed that they failed. He orders Slick to be killed immediately.
Returning to his run-down apartment in an immigrant neighborhood, Joey is again attacked by thugs. He uses Megatron to delay them long enough to escape, then flees.
Needing money, he holds up a convenience store... then uses Megatron's firepower to stop pursuing police cars. Realizing the possibilities, he soon uses Megatron to strike a one-man crime wave.
Redolent in riches, Joey finds himself surrounded by hangers-on and wannabes. Trying to reconnect with the things that matter, he returns to his old neighborhood, only to find himself feared and worshipped for his "super gun". He realizes he has to face up to his problems.
Joey blasts his way into Lomax's compound and confronts the gangster one on one. Despite his earlier bluster, Lomax pleads for his life. No longer afraid of Lomax, Joey tosses the gun away, and punches him out. Joey throws the owed money at his unconscious form. Joey turns to find Megatron looming over him—the impact reconnected his higher brain functions.
Megatron is furious at Joey for attempting to command him, and attempts to kill the impudent fleshling. But when Joey shows absolutely no fear before him, Megatron is impressed and spares him. Megatron leaves to rejoin the Decepticons, and Joey is willingly arrested by the civil authorities.

Synopsis "Rock and Roll Out!"
Jetfire has been brought to life by Optimus Prime, and with the Rite of the Autobrand is made a full member of the Autobots. Optimus gives him a tour of his new home. In the medical bay, Ratchet is struggling to repair a large group of warriors recently damaged in battle. Elsewhere, the Ark has constructed five new Transformer bodies. Wheeljack installs within them the minds of five Autobot warriors, which were encoded in crystalline containment vessels before the Autobots left Cybertron. Prime welcomes the new arrivals, all of whom now "live for a second time".
While holding Grapple back for a special project, Prime sends the other four out on the street with Bumblebee to acclimate them to their home town. Wheeljack has equipped the Autobots with a brilliant disguise—they now have facsimile circuitry which covers up their Autobot symbols and provides them with mannequin dummy drivers.
Meanwhile, Shockwave has finally returned, arriving at the Decepticons' oil-drilling platform base just in time to squelch the mewlings of Starscream. He demonstrates the power siphon he's just built, turning some of the oil into energon cubes. The Decepticons leave, taking the converter and a stash of cubes with them. To evade a human naval fleet that has been surrounding them, Shockwave detonates a cube in mid-air, and the humans are temporarily blinded by the light.
The humans, however, had rigged the oil platform's supports with bugs and overheard the Decepticons' plans to steal "a large release of sonic energy". G.B. Blackrock is also on the fleet and relays the information to the Autobots.
While fueling up at a Blackrock gas station, Skids learns about an upcoming rock concert. The Autobots put two and two together and go to reconnoiter the concert, while Optimus Prime heads that way with reinforcements.
Before Prime can arrive, the Autobots observe a sonic disruption of the show. The Autobots are under orders from Prime not to take any action until he arrives, but it's hard to be a saint in the city, and so they disrupt the device that's causing the problem. The sound goes back to normal and Decepticon jets burst out of the ground.
The Autobots have little choice but to make a stand. Bumblebee gives the order to fire. The newcomers fend off the jets, while Bumblebee discovers Shockwave's ruined power siphon. Out of arbitrary vengeance, Shockwave decides to incinerate the audience of humans. To stop him from creating a city of ruins full of humans screaming "I'm on fire", Bumblebee tosses an energon cube into his barrel just as he fires. The cube detonates with a huge thundercrack, sending him flying helplessly away. The audience is awestruck by the resulting fireworks hailing over them, while the battered Decepticon jets flee like spirits in the night. The battle won, the Autobots quickly go back to hiding on the back streets.
Heading home, Bumblebee's team has a meeting across the river with Prime's reinforcements. Bumblebee is prepared to accept a reprimand, but Prime is impressed with his team's performance and trusts that Bumblebee did what he felt was best. Bumblebee affirms that he did, having learned that "the show must go on!"

Synopsis "I Robot Master!"
Megatron hungers! The displaced Decepticon, wandering across the landscape in a desperate search for fuel, is rendered immobile in a coal mine when he finally runs out of energy.
The Intelligence and Information Institute scrambles for a way to explain the presence of giant robots to the public that will calm panic, despite the efforts of G.B. Blackrock to convince I.I.I. that the Autobots can be Earth's allies. The agency's staff is sent home to come up with a viable cover story and told not to return to work without a proposal.
I.I.I. agent Walter Barnett is inspired by his son's comic book, Robot-Master. I.I.I. prepares to spin their story. Robot Master's writer, Donny Finkleberg, has just lost his job with Marvel Comics. He readily accepts a lunch proposition from Barnett to discuss the idea... and even more readily accepts an offer to actually play the role.
The next day, broadcast television across the continent is interrupted by a ranting costumed supervillain, Robot-Master! He claims that all the Transformers are under his control. Reactions are varied; the Autobots are baffled, and turn to Blackrock for answers.
The next day, a second broadcast takes advantage of the inert Megatron, whose presence bolsters the government's claims. This broadcast gains the attention of both the Autobots and the Decepticon Soundwave, who undertakes a mission to free Megatron. The Autobots, knowing the presence of Megatron to be a threat, also roll out to collect him.
The Autobots drive to the coal mine, but are met with resistance from the human military, which does not recognize the Autobots as anything other than a threat. Soundwave, Laserbeak and Ravage arrive at the coal mine with fuel for Megatron, who becomes mobile again. The four Decepticons go on a rampage against the human military; the damaged Autobots are in no condition to help the humans, and are forced to retreat.
Ravage finds Finkleberg; although Megatron wishes to kill "Robot-Master" for claiming to control him, Finkleberg is able to convince the Decepticons that, by continuing to convince the humans that the Autobots are as much a threat to them as the Decepticons, the Autobots' efforts might continue to be thwarted. Finkleberg is spared, for now...

Synopsis "Plight of the Bumblebee!"
Shockwave intends to capture the Autobot Bumblebee and install a device that will make Bumblebee his slave, allowing him to conquer the Autobots.
At the Ark, Bumblebee is feeling useless after their last battle. He decides to abandon the Autobots, feeling that they would be better off without him.
Flying through the city, Laserbeak soon locates Bumblebee; a whole squad of Decepticons attacks him out of the blue. Damaged, Bumblebee evades them by hiding out in an impound lot and shutting down his systems. The ruse works, and the Decepticons withdraw, waiting for him to reactivate.
Meanwhile, the Autobots have observed news footage of the attack, and mobilize to search for their missing comrade.
Later that night, a couple of joyride-seeking teens, Waldo Dobbs and Ernest, decide that a Volkswagen will make a nice, inconspicuous choice of vehicle to steal. Bumblebee goes along with the theft, actually enjoying the ability to show off his better-than-average driving abilities when the pair is challenged by a hot rod driver. When his damages cause him to sputter out, one of the teens makes some repairs, restoring him to full power, but this soon alerts the Decepticons, who attack again, to the humans' shock.
Bumblebee prepares to make a last stand to defend himself and his new friends. The timely arrival of Jetfire buys him some time, but Jetfire is quickly shot down; Bumblebee cannot help him, as he must save the humans from a collapsing overpass. Surrounded, Bumblebee is saved at the last moment by the arrival of Optimus Prime and a convoy of Autobots, and realizes his true place is with the Autobot team.
