*This is the first Walking Dead comic book I ever bought. It is also the first comic I ever sent to CGC- I did not get this comic with the idea of it ever being graded, or getting involved in any of this madness. When it came back to me as a 9.4 I was really excited. This might technically be where I could say I was "bitten" and infected with the fever of the Walking Dead!
SIDE NOTE- My Uncle John was born in the Cynthiana Kentucky hospital where Rick was laid-up in his little coma. One of my oldest friends named Marty still works there! (yes it is a real place!- Harrison Memorial Hospital-- I'm from Kentucky, so you know its true!)

*I have no idea when or how I acquired this book. The virus must have been strong that day. Maybe I was shuffling aimlessly through a mall and I scavenged it off the floor.
*To score this beauty I worked 2 seasons in a moisture field at the Owens-Family Farm to pay-off the Ninja. After learning to speak Bochi, I was able to strike a deal and go from a 9.2 to a sweet 9.8- it was a tough job- if I was ever late to work, there was Hell to pay!

***This comic is part of the "Handicap-series"- I hoped I'd at least get a 9.0 if I sent this in. I was more than pleased to get back a 9.2. I'm even more than MORE than pleased that I haven't had to use this comic as a shield to fend off a blow from an axe to the face from some homicidal maniac that's trying to destroy me.

*I love this cover and this issue- but I felt very naïve when I learned that the snow on the cover was done with help from photo-shop. This was the first time I realized comics had computer help. It makes sense, but it also deflated my ideas of some of the recent comic art I've seen- and I how dumb I am to not know, and to be surprised about comics and computers colliding! --I'm sure this happened 40 years ago-- I'm okay...

*This is the first graded book I bought at a comic shop. My usual sales person laid this on my weekly stack and said he'd been saving it for me. He knew I would take it- He knew I was a fool and would buy anything- I don't even know what I paid for it, I never asked- I do remember going out to my truck parked outside the comic shop, and there were 2 walkers slumped against my tailgate. I tossed my comics in the passanger seat, threw that truck in reverse, and got my first "double-zombie-reverse-kill"

***I was on the way to see Kevin Costner- he was still delivering the mail while knee-deep in zombies...he was quite the Postman! I had my raw copy of issue 9 ready to send to the graders; as I approached him and reached out to hand him my package, a giant-mutant vulture came screaming-in out of nowhere. The creature raked half of Kevin's face off with its 5 inch talons, and then it snatched my parcel from my hand, and flew off as quickly as it appeared. Before I could even be upset about losing my comic- a ninja (A RED NINJA!) drops out of a tree. Without saying a word he pulls from his RED ninja outfit a perfect Walking Dead 9.8. He handed it to me, dropped a smoke bomb and vanished. I stepped over a bloody Kevin Costner through a cloud of ninja smoke holding a brand new number 9....off in the distance, I heard the vultures cries...

*This 9.8 is a replacement for the 9.0 I originally graded that I dropped on the floor and cracked during a photo-shoot. Maybe if I take all my low grade books, and drop them on the floor, and smash them all-up- they will magically upgrade by themselves (or at least that's the ridiculous lie I'll tell my wife when I'm looking for some explanation for my poorly thought-out financial decisions!)
