Synopsis: The Island of Telambang, located off the coast of the Indonesian Archipelago, Captain Lee Kwan Pen of the Sovereign Airways runs for his life from Banapur Khan, a pirate who hijacked his plane and took his passengers hostage, killing the men and preparing to rape the women and sell the survivors off to the slave trade. The Captain doesn't make it very far before Banapur and his men track him down, recapture him and behead him in front of the other survivors as a lesson to them what happens when people try to escape.
These pirates however do not expect the arrival of Wolverine, having come to liberate Kojima Noburo a nobleman in the employ of his lover Mariko Yoshida. Wolverine easily kills the guard left to keep an eye on the stolen plane and slips past the traps set up around the island. Entering the pirates camp, he saves a young stewardess from being raped by one of the pirates and kills him, he tells her to keep quiet while he goes to work to rescue the surviving passengers. Finding the hut where Kojima has been kept prisoner, Wolverine finds him on the brink of death. When he tells Kojima who he is, the dying man doesn't believe it as he believes that Wolverine is dead[2]. Wolverine is then discovered by Banapur and his men, who rush him.
Despite the army of pirates armed to the gills with automatic weapons and swords, Wolverine's mutant healing factor and Adamantium lanced bones prove more than ample protection for Wolverine to single-handedly defeat all his attackers in. As Wolverine slaughters them all, the flight attendant he saved earlier takes Kojima off to safety. With all the soldiers dead except for Khan, the pirate leader makes a desperate escape with a hostage aboard a boat. Although he escapes Wolverine's retribution he leaves himself open to the stewardess who was hiding aboard the boat and shoots him dead from behind. Wolverine goes back to the dying Kojima who tells him that the Cult of the Black Blade is seeking to collect the Muramasa Blade -- a powerful sword of that corrupts those who wield it --, a sword that is due to be shipped through the city of Madripoor the following day. As Kojima dies in Wolverine's arms, Logan swears to him that he will return to Lady Mariko and tell her that he died a true samurai.
Wolverine researches the Cult of the Black Blade and learns that they are an ancient cult that has sought the blade for centuries. They had disappeared until the cult found a resurgence in the 1920's. Disguising himself, Logan tracks the woman who Kojima has told him is transporting the blade into Madripoor: his old ally from the X-Men's day in San Francisco, Lindsay McCabe. Bumping into her to make sure she doesn't recognize him and to lock onto her scent, Logan follows after her. Noticing that some hired thugs are on location to follow her as well, Logan pops their tires so that they can't. When Lindsay enters her hotel room she is attacked by two people seeking to claim the Muramasa Blade, however, they find -- much to their frustration -- that it is not in her luggage.
"Patch" (as Logan calls himself) bursts through the room and easily takes out the male attacker however the woman gets the drop on him and puts a gun to his head. Before the can pull the trigger Lindsay comes up behind her and smashes a lamp over her head. Convincing Lindsay that he is a friend, Patch tells her what's going on and she reveals to him that her friend Jessie is the one transporting in the blade tomorrow. She is also shocked to hear that Kojima was murdered because she thought she was talking to him up until today. Which leaves Logan to believe that Lindsay's partner is walking into a trap.

With Jessica Drew bringing the cursed Muramasa Blade -- coveted by the Cult of the Black Blade -- to a bar in Madripoor's Lowtown and into a trap, Logan (in his guise of Patch) and Lindsay McCabe (Jessica's actress friend) head to the bar to wait for Jessica's arrival. The bar is a rough place but Patch is most impressed when Lindsay conducts herself well even though he has to warn off the locals that she is with him. She impresses him further when she takes the same drink as him even thought it literally knocks her off her feet.
Patch leaves her behind while he goes upstairs to meet with the ""contact"", left to her own devices Lindsay becomes uncomfortable to the attention she is getting and takes up Belle the bartenders offer to work behind the bar while Patch is busy. As Logan goes upstairs he recounts the course of events that led him here[1]. Entering the room where Jessica Drew was supposed to meet her contact, Patch finds that everyone in the room has been slaughtered. As he enters the room, he is suddenly attacked by the Silver Samurai who has also come looking for the sword and will not allow Logan to interfere in his plans. The two begin to spar when suddenly their are interrupted by Jessica Drew, who steps out of the shadows revealing that she is under the influence of the Muramasa Sword.
Their fight spills into the bar below where the bewildered Lindsay watches as the Silver Samurai threatens to kill Jessica in order to get the sword. Before the fight can continue further some of the roughnecks in the bar attempt to gun down Jessica, Patch and the Samurai until they are all slaughtered by Jessica and the Samurai. As the fight continues on, Logan decides to use a more drastic measure to stop the fight. When nobody is looking he uses his claws to cut through one of the foundation walls of the bar, sending the roof collapsing on them all. Jessica manages to get free first and escapes into the night. Patch rescues Lindsay from the rubble and goes after Drew.
Lindsay goes to the Silver Samurai and considers slaying him with his own sword but decides to rescue him from the rubble instead. When Lindsay almost falls through the floor the Samurai returns the favor. Before the Silver Samurai can continue his hunt for the blade, Lindsay manages to talk him into letting her accompany him.
Meanwhile, Patch has caught up and cornered Jessica Drew, who under the swords influence attacks him. Although the battle is brutal, Logan's healing factor compensates for the cuts made from the black blade. He manages to grab the sword out of her hand and before he can land a killing blow the sword -- finding him a more suitable host -- takes possession of Logan instead. The Silver Samurai and Lindsay arrive just as the possession is complete and the sword announces to them that it has found the perfect host and that once it sacrifices Jessica's life their bond will become permanent.

Synopsis: Continued from last issue...
Patch (Logan) is under the control of the The Black Blade(also known as the Muramasa Blade), and the blade finds him an ideal host for it's power. It announces to the Silver Samurai and Lindsay McCabe that it intends to sacrifice Lindsay's friend the detective Jessica Drew in order to make the bond between it and Patch permanent. Before the two can act, Patch disappears into the flames of the burning building with Jessica in his arms. Thinking that her friend is burning alive in the building Lindsay impulsively rushes into the building only to have to be saved by the Silver Samurai. Realizing that jumping into the burning building was only a means to cover his tracks, Lindsay and the Samurai decide to check out a lead to try and track them down.
They travel to the Princess Bar where O'Donnell has just recently returned following his rescue from Roch[1] just as he is being interrogated by Captain Tai the chief of police in Madripoor about the battle that just happened. After Tai leaves, McCabe and the Samurai ask to see the members of the Cult of the Black Blade that O'Donnell has tied up in the basement. There, Lindsay uses her acting skills to pretend that she is torturing one of the followers of the cult to make the others talk. With the other followers scared out of their wits they are left to tell O'Donnell Patch's location. Outside Lindsay explains to the Samurai that she faked the whole beating using stage props and her own natural acting ability. That night as they are preparing to go and rescue Jessica, Lindsay watches the Samurai in one of his work outs. He explains to her his mutant nature and the origins of the Muramasa Blade and how it links to the soul of its wielder augmenting their abilities.
Later that evening they travel to a temple where the Cult of the Black Blade are stationed, there the Samurai and O'Donnell arm Lindsay with a sniper rifle and send her to take out Patch before he can use the Muramasa blade to kill Jessica (who is entranced by it) and permanently bond him with the sword. Although she has her reservations about killing Patch, she fires to save her friend. The shot strikes Patch but doesn't kill him and the distraction allows the Silver Samurai to attack, cutting his way through the followers of the cult as he goes along. Lindsay rushes down and tries to get Jessica to run but Logan revives before they can get away and is about to strike down Lindsay with the sword when the Samurai steps in.
Patch gets the upper hand against the Silver Samurai and is about to kill him when Lindsay attempts to shoot him again with the sniper rifle, she fails when he tosses a sword at her and she has to dive out of the way. The distraction allows Logan to regain some control over himself and with extreme effort manages to fight off the blades influence and toss it away. With Logan free the threat of the blade is over, however the Silver Samurai -- having come to claim the sword for himself -- grabs it, and much to everyone's surprise is not transformed by it like Jessica or Patch before him. Realizing that he and the sword are suited for each other the Silver Samurai departs leaving Patch to take Jessica and Lindsay back into Madripoor to celebrate their victory until dawn.

He is fished out of the river by Chief of Police Tai, and Patch turns up to see what’s going on. He picks up the murderer’s scents off their victim, and heads to Ranjamaryam’s suite. The next day, Roughouse manhandles Lindsay McCabe and Jessica Drew in the market before being reminded by Bloodsport that they have more important matters to attend to. Suddenly, a woman appears, on the verge of death. Lindsay takes care of her and Jessica checks things out. She discovers many of her friends, Tyger’s people, butchered by persons unknown. She returns to find the woman is also dead, and she realizes they’ve jumped into the middle of a war. Synopsis: Continued from last issue...
With her uncle Nguyen Ngoc Coy preparing to murder Patch, Karma breaks into tears after crushing a wine glass in her hands. Witnessing this, Bloodscream asks her what is the matter. When she tells him nothing, he can tell that her soul is in anguish and samples some of the blood that is left on the table cloth from her cut hand, and tells her that their lives are now bound until death -- or beyond.
Meanwhile, Patch is has chartered a flight to the mainland aboard Archie Corrigan's plane in order to help Tyger Tiger from being ousted from the Madripoor crime scene. Logan detects the lingering scent of Bloodscream on Archie and wonders if he is loyal to Bloodscream's employer and prepares to use his claws to kill Archie should that prove to be true. Archie has gone back to ""get some coffee"" but in reality is going back for a gun to shoot Patch in the back. He struggles between doing the dirty deed or not, but doesn't make a decision because soon his plane is strafed by a fighter plane. Patch takes control of the plans and with some fancy flying tries to get away. With their plane damaged and unlikely to survive any more shots, Logan jumps out of the plane and uses his claws to shear off the wing of the attacking aircraft causing it to crash. Free falling, Logan aims for a lake far below and makes a perfect landing into the water.
Back on Madripoor island, Lindsay McCabe and Jessica Drew take the gravely injured Tyger Tiger to one of Patch's safe houses owned by the corporation known as Landau, Luckman & Lake. There they are greeted by Chang, who welcomes them in but tells them that this isn't the best place for them to hide out and begins to make arrangements to relocate them someplace else.
Wolverine Vol 2 5 page - James Howlett (Earth-616)
While in the Golden Triangle, two soldiers of fortune named Battleaxe and Shotgun survey the crash sight looking for Logan. Finding no trace of him they report back to their leader Hardcase, who is not satisfied and orders them to search the wreckage further. As they soldier on they walk right past Logan who had been hiding in the mud. Rising out of the muck he sneaks up behind them and gets the drop on them.
Meanwhile, in Madripoor, Lindsay and Jessica make themselves at home and get to know Chang. Jessica is shocked to find a 19th century tinytype photograph depicting Logan and Chang. More questions are raised when Lindsay tries on a outfit that is made of metal but is as comfortable as a second skin. Chang is not at liberty to explain his organizations secrets, and whatever further explanations are cut short when suddenly Roughhouse bursts through the wall to take Tyger Tiger.
Back on the Golden Triangle, Logan uses Axe and Shotgun's radio to make an emergency signal to the Harrier's base before rushing in and fighting off their hired goons and attacking their base. As the fight causes a fire, some of Hardcase's men attempt to make a break with Coy's supply of Opium. Patch attempts to stop them but is gunned down. As they try to escape, Archie flies overhead blasting some of the trucks with his planes weapons. When one of Coy's men finds Logan alive, he is shocked to find that he survived an entire clip of ammunition. When he tries to raise his weapon to shoot him again, Logan jumps at him and kills him with his claws.
With the shipment of Opium destroyed Logan and Archie make their escape back to Madripoor, leaving the Harriers behind and their leader Hardcase hoping to meet Logan again in the future. On the way back Archie asks Patch if this will cripple Coy's plot to take over the Madripoor crime scene, Logan isn't so sure, but believes anything is possible. Logan's word would seem contrary as back in Madripoor, the safehouse of Landau, Luckman & Lake has been torn to the ground, and among the rubble is the lifeless body of Chang.

Synopsis: Continued from last issue...
Karma has traveled to the royal home of Prince Baran, ruler of Madripoor hoping to free the captured Lindsay McCabe, Jessica Drew and Tyger Tiger. Feigning having a stalled car she uses her possession abilities to take control of one of the palace guards to get inside. However, her awe at the Prince's wealth causes her control over the palace guard to slip. Before he can capture her he is knocked out by Patch, who has broken into the castle with Archie Corrigan who are on the same mission as she. As they sneak through the castle, Karma explains her situation, telling Patch that she started working for her corrupt uncle because her siblings had gone missing and after exhausting all other resources she hoped that her uncles underworld contacts might prove useful in finding them. Finding that the moral price of siding with her father to be too high, she had decided to turn on him and redeem herself by saving Jessica and the others. As they travel through the court yard they almost stumble into the grasp of a tentacled creature that the prince has living in his fountain.
Elsewhere in the castle, Lindsay and Jessica are prisoners of Coy, and have been forced into slave clothes for his, Bloodscream and Roughhouse's personal amusements. Despite their capture Coy has kept the women alive for two reasons: the first to make them suffer for getting in his way, and second to try and force them to give up the key to the indestructible suit of armor they have placed Tyger Tiger in. Coy's minions at first do not believe the armor from Landau, Luckman and Lake to be indestructible but soon learn the truth when they attempt to breach it. When they refuse to play ball, Coy is about to hurt Lindsay when Patch suddenly enters the room and slashes Bloodscream's throat, seemingly killing him in the process. Patch is then attacked by Roughhouse, who manages to knock Patch out of the palace through a wall, but Logan takes him down by stabbing him in the gut with his claws. As he enters the room to go after Coy, Bloodscream (having healed from his attack) grabs hold of Patch and starts draining his blood. However before he can sap all of Logan's blood he is taken under the control of Karma.
As Patch struggles to get back into the fight, Roughhouse tosses him outside and goes after him. When Bloodscream breaks free of Karma's control Archie attempts to bluff Coy into surrendering by threatening to shoot his niece. Coy calls his bluff and distracts Archie long enough for Bloodscream to get near and disarm him. As Logan battles Roughhouse outside, Jessica attempts to fight Bloodscream. When she realizes his very touch can make her bleed she is assisted by the revived Tyger Tiger. With Tyger safe from Bloodscream's blood-draining abilities, Jessica goes outside to help Patch battle Roughhouse. There the trio of combatants are grabbed by the creature, however Patch manages to cut them free with his claws.
Inside Tyger manages to knock out Bloodscream sending Coy fleeing to seek cover. Calling for Roughhouse the would-be crime czar is shocked to find that Jessica and Logan have knocked him out as well. Logan is about to slay Coy when he is stopped by the arrival of Prince Baran and his palace guard, who tells them that only he has the power to call for an execution in his own palace.

Synopsis: Continued from last issue....
Tahoe, Nevada, Mr. Fixit has been hired out as a favor from his boss Berengetti to help out one of his fellow crime bosses. The crime lord explains that he has begun working with a man from the far east that apparently was of high repute however recent news has left this crime lord wondering and has asked Mr. Fixit to travel out to Madripoor to investigate it. The Hulk takes the job and when the crime boss offers him a position, Hulk respectfully declines.
In Madripoor at the palace of Prince Baran, Patch, Jessica Drew, Lindsay McCabe, Karma her uncle and the unconscious Bloodsport and Roughhouse are now before Prince Baran himself who has come to interrupt their battle. The Prince is not happy that they have laid waste to one of the wings of his home and killed one of his prized pets, but his tone changes when he sees Lindsay. Recognizing her as an actress, Baran professes that he is a big fan and ushers her off and orders his troops to make everyone comfortable guests, much to the irritation of Coy.
Back in the States, the Hulk's chauffeur Connie stops to fill up his limo for gas. She attracts the attention of a biker gang, who's lead attempts to sweet talk her into a ""date"". When she refuses their leader Dex punches her in the face and scratches the paint job on the car with his knife. This causes Mr. Fixit to come out of the car, and at first the gang stands up to him, but when he starts trashing their bikes their leader tries to make a break for it. Hulk stops him and warns him that he's a small timer in Las Vegas and that he should learn his place. He then orders the gang to fix the paint job on his car before taking one of their bikes and continuing his trek to the airport.
While in Madripoor, Tyger Tiger paces around her room debating on what to do and how to get out of the indestructible armor she's now trapped in. She's grabbed by Logan and pulled up to the roof. When she calls him Wolverine, he reminds her that Wolverine is ""dead""[1] and she should call him Patch. He reasons with her that Coy taking over Madripoor's entire criminal empire would be too dangerous, and that while they both want him dead the best thing to do is allow him to take the abandoned drug and slave markets in Madripoor so that nobody worse than Coy snaps up those black markets. As the Hulk prepares to fly out of LAX, Coy and Tiger make a deal before Prince Baran who has his guards escort them out. After both crime lords are gone, Baran invites Patch, Jessica and Lindsay on a tour of his palace. Lindsay is surprised to find that Baran, a fan of hers, has an entire room dedicated to her and her films with statues made of each of the roles she ever played in Hollywood movies. Lindsay tells Baran that she stopped acting after an encounter with Viper landed her in the hospital[2].
While at the Sovereign Hotel, Coy vents his frustrations over losing complete dominion over the Madripoor crime market. Karma goes into another room to change when she is intruded upon by Roughhouse who is drunk and looking to have ""fun"" with her. Before he can do anything, Patch attacks him and Karma uses her powers to make him sleep. Karam is glad to see Patch and she tells him her uncle got involved with an American crime boss and since the deal to rule Madripoor's entire criminal market hadn't gone as planned this American mobster has sent his agent Mr. Fixit to deal with her uncle. Despite the fact that Patch considers this predicament fitting for Coy, he agrees to save him from Mr. Fixit for Karma's sake.
After checking his sources to learn what he can about Mr. Fixit, Logan stakes out the Madripoor airport. Sure enough the Hulk arrives and is forced to carry his own suitcases when his valet proves incapable of lugging them around. However, he turns out to be an assassin who pulls a gun on Fixit, but when he shoots the Hulk point blank in the face with his gun, it does nothing but irritate the brute. He calls on an army of men, making Logan realize that he wasn't the only one waiting on Fixit to arrive. Logan decides to lend a helping hand when one of the goons attempts to kill a young girl. Logan and the Hulk easily fight them off and when the Hulk contains an exploding hand grenade in his hand, all the attackers flee in fear. Wanting to get to his hotel by sunrise, Fixit pays Logan to drive him to the Sovereign Hotel. That morning Logan sees why: Mr. Fixit has transformed into a very familiar face, Bruce Banner. Realizing that he's dealing with the Hulk, Logan tries his best not to laugh because he's going to find this job almost too fun.

At the Sovereign Hotel, the Hulk comes out of the shower and is furious to find that someone has replaced all of his suits and stuffed his suitcases with torn purple pants, with a note saying ""We know who you are! Get out of town!"", unknown to the Hulk this is the first of many torments by Logan. This is the first torment orchestrated by the mutant in order to manipulate him into wrecking Nguyen Coy's operations in the Madripoor crime scene. Joe Fixit is furious and vows to get back at whoever played this joke on him.
That evening, while Patch, Jessica Drew, General Coy, his niece Karma, Lindsay McCabe, Tyger Tiger and Captain Tai of the Madripoor police enjoy a night of music at the Princess Bar, things livened up by the arrival of the Hulk. When he smashes through the door, O'Donnell is furious until the Hulk intimidates him and then pays for the damage. Knowing that Patch is the man to go to for information in Madripoor, and unaware that it was he who put all the purple pants in his hotel room goes to him seeking information on Coy. Everyone believes a fight is about to break out and start placing bets, but much to everyone's surprise, Patch agrees to help the Hulk out. Taking him outside, Hulk tells him that before he goes after the man he's been hired to look for, he wants to know what he deals in. Before they can go anywhere a Madripet truck zooms by splashing the Hulk. In a fury the Hulk bounds over to the truck and smashes it, realizing too late that it's carrying waste. With is suit ruined, Patch decides to further torment the Hulk by providing him the ""only"" clothes in his size, a pair of purple pants.
Patch takes him to a massage parlor that is really a front for the slave trade and convinces the Hulk to help him bust out all the captured women. They rough up the establishments operators, and when the owner tries to give Logan trouble for the incident, the Hulk smashes up his operation and warns the flesh peddler not to get him angry. Going back to his hotel room, the Hulk is tricked by Logan to wait until dawn. When he reverts back into Bruce Banner, Logan makes sure it's Banner, not the Hulk that reaps the spoils of his rescuing the women. When the Hulk returns at night he is angry that Banner managed to have the fun and not him, playing right into Logan's hand.
That night, Logan takes him on another bogus trip, this time tracking him into going to a shrine right above the largest Cocaine processing plant in Madripoor. Suspicious of Patch, the Hulk sends him first, however Patch manages to slip away and use his claws to cut through the floor and send the Hulk crashing into the processing plant. When it's guards attack him, he dismantles the place and sends the guards fleeing. When Logan explains to him what he did, the Hulk realizes that he's been set up. Before he can go anything further, Coy shows up with is subordinates Roughhouse and Bloodscream, furious that the man sent out to help his operations have done nothing but tear them down. When the Hulk realizes that Coy is a crime lord, he realizes he was tricked into helping mobsters and refuses to do anything crooked since his employer Berengetti doesn't deal in illegal operations.
Furious of being used as a pawn, Fixit asks Logan how he is going to stop him from turning Madripoor upside down and take over. Logan explains to him that half the day is sunlight making him vulnerable when he turns into Bruce Banner. The Hulk doesn't like this and after decking Patch in the face, agrees to leave. The following night, Patch organizes a flight for the Hulk to get back to the United States, giving him an opportunity to play a final joke on the Hulk: Telling him he's flying east to enjoy the all evening flight. He fools Hulk into taking a flight going west, in the direction of the rising sun. When the Hulk realizes it, it's far too late and he turns back into Bruce Banner cursing Patch's name.

Synopsis: In the past, a group of mercenaries are trying to find somewhere safe after two of them are killed by Logan. They are soon attacked in a cabin, and Logan takes out Van Slyke before disappearing into the woods. That night, their leader, Malone, dreams of how Logan took out Shelly and Schmidt, forcing them to travel hundreds of miles away to safety. Logan has followed them all the way. Logan makes an appearance that night, and simply says, “Remember Iraq?” before vanishing into the woods again. The mercs follow him outside and find Rollins dead. With just Bruno, Malone and Needle still alive, they take a canoe and head down river. Malone figures this has to do with an incident in Iraq five years ago tomorrow. They were hired to storm the American Embassy. There, Malone abused a nun before escaping by the skin of his teeth when the Embassy was attacked. Logan manages to destroy their canoe and kills Needle. Bruno then figures that, if he kills Malone, whose idea the Iraq job was in the first place, Logan might let him live. Malone kills him before he gets the chance. Malone heads down the shoreline, until he runs out of both energy and land. Logan appears beside him, overlooking a precipice, which drops into a ravine. Logan informs Malone that the nun was Canadian, and she had told him in her dying breath to ensure they suffered as she had. Logan was angry that they had taken away her spirit and her soul to the point where she could not forgive them. Malone points out that he’s a day early, but Logan tells him he forgets the time zone. Iraq is a day ahead of them. Malone takes his own life rather than be butchered by Logan, and Logan heads off with no sense of satisfaction coming from his actions. In the present, Karma offers Logan a drink. She comments that he was lost in thought. Logan replies that he was thinking of a man who avenged a nun once. He was a different man to Logan; more of a loner and more vicious, but less of a man. He accepts the drink, figuring this’ll be a long night.

Synopsis: In his role as Patch, Logan is having a quiet drink in Lowtown when he recalls being in the very same bar years earlier, shortly after Sabretooth had killed Silver Fox on his birthday. He wanted to take down Sabretooth so badly, and the big guy was only too happy to oblige. After slamming Logan around, they took the fight outside and continued in the same vein until Logan managed to escape. Logan made his way into the wilderness, but was in a bad way as he climbed a cliff face. When he finally reached the top, Sabretooth was there to greet him. Logan summoned enough energy to attack again, but he was no match for the stronger Sabretooth. Soon, he was caught in his foe’s grip and being taunted about having his throat tore out the same as Silver Fox. Logan reacted by throwing them both off the cliff. After some time, Sabretooth picked himself up and left Logan for dead. In the present, Patch stops a bar fight before heading outside to the rooftops. He comes across a couple being mugged and steps in to take their assailants down. He then takes the woman and her injured companion to Madame Joy’s for treatment, before calling in for a chat with Lindsay and Jessica. Once he’s gone, Jessica follows him, believing him to be in some kind of trouble. She tracks him to the waterfront where she and Patch are attacked by two guys Patch stopped earlier. They attack them with rockets, grenades, a flame thrower and a sub-machine gun, and finally Patch throws himself into the water, covered in flames. When he is pulled out by Jessica, they find the men gone, but neither of them know anything about it. Patch returns to the Princess Bar and discovers their bodies with a card attached. It’s from Sabretooth, promising that no one kills Patch but him.

Synopsis: Two men named Ernst and Jarocha have broken into the San Francisco Museum of Antiques seeking out a strange stone that is on display in the area. As they are breaking into the display case they are startled by the night watchman and drop the stone, causing it to shatter on the ground leaving them to realize that it was a fake. Attacking the security guard, they flash their fangs, revealing to him that they are vampires before they feed upon him.
While in Madripoor, Archie Corrigan bursts into the Princess Bar as Patch is playing darts. Taking an interest in what is troubling Corrigan, Logan takes a seat and learns that the authorities want to declare Archie's brother, Burt, incompetent and that the only means to save him would be to fight the decision and Archie isn't sure that he wants to. As Patch is called to finish a wager on his darts skill he hears the rest of Corrigan's story: When Archie's father passed away he left the majority of his wealth with his brother, however, Burt has a disconnect from reality often believing himself to be various fictional characters from the movies he loves. His aunt Ruthie is attempting to have the courts find him deemed incompetent so that she can take away the money left to Burt by his father. Archie was willing to help until he got a letter from his brother asking him for help battling the ""forces of evil"", leaving Archie to wonder if the decision isn't without merit. As they pass through Lowtown Archie asks Patch to accompany him out to San Fransisco to investigate the thing. Logan is reluctant and as he encourages a man who is constantly getting thrown out of a bar to go in and continue his brawl he begins to mull it over. When Jessica Drew (having followed them after overhearing them speak of her old stomping grounds[1]) expresses her interest in going if Patch goes, Patch agrees to accompany Archie if the man he goaded into going back into the bar is thrown out the window. Sure enough, fate's mighty hands sees that it does happen and the man is thrown through the window of the bar, deciding for Logan to go to San Francisco to try and help Archie out.
As they fly out to San Fran, Logan mulls over his current lot in life. Reflecting on his time with the X-Men he earned a family he didn't realize that he needed, now he finds himself among another group of people whom he is getting involved within Madripoor and finds that a second family is not what he needs.
When they arrive in San Fransisco, they travel to Burt's mansion where they meet with him and all appears to be normal and it would seem that Burt has taken up a normal profession, and has been writing a dissertation on ancient cultures. Convinces that Burt doesn't believe he is someone else, Archie, Logan and Jessica all pay leave, agreeing to be on site for Burt's hearing in the courts. As they leave, Burt opens his desk drawer and pulls out the stone that the two vampires were searching for the night before. Jessica Drew takes the time back in the States to drop by her old office to check her mail. She begins to wonder if she should return to California and reopen her operations here or just move to Madripoor permanently. As she is going through her bills she is visited by Mr. Tuttle, the curator of the San Fransisco Museum of Antiques. He is seeking to hire her to investigate the attack and attempted robbery by what appeared to be vampires. Jessica agrees to take the case and look into things and see what she can find.
The next day at the courthouse, Patch watches over the proceedings over Burt's competency hearing. With Burt running late and nobody knowing where he is, Archie and his aunt begin to fight over her motivations for having Burt found incompetent when suddenly their argument is interrupted when Burt smashes through the courthouse window dressed like Indian Jones and riding on horseback. Archie freaks out and demands that his brother explains himself. Burt starts to try to explain that he is being chased by the forces of evil. When Patch tries to confirm that someone is coming, Archie silences him. Before things can carry on further, an army of vampires suddenly storm the courtroom heading straight for Burt. Patch gets up and prepares to enter the fight, wondering why he ever left Madripoor for this.

The chase carries them all over the streets of San Francisco, with two cars full of vampires and the police car carrying Logan and Archie. As Burt and Jessica continue to try and elude their pursuers, Logan and Archie try to stop the vampires as well. After succeeding in causing one car to crash, Logan is gunned down and crushed between his car and a car full of attackers. Before they can get out of the trolley's path, Logan then uses his claws to keep the car in its path causing them to collide.
With their pursuers either shaken off or killed, Logan and Archie catch up with Jessica and Burt. Archie is furious about this predicament, however, Logan manages to calm him down. Realizing that San Francisco is likely to be swarming with vampire followers of Ba'al, not to mention the police out looking for them, Logan convinces his friends that the best thing to do is to take Bruce back to Madripoor. They tell O'Donnell that they'll have plenty of cash once they sell off the valuable stone.
San Francisco:
Patch, Archie, Burt and Jessica Drew are heading to where Archie landed his plane in a stolen vehicle when the police being to chase them. Before they can catch up, Logan jumps out of the car and onto the hood of the police vehicle and rams his Adamantium claws into the engine forcing the police to pull over while Logan jumps back into their getaway vehicle. With the police off their back, Jessica starts demanding that Burt explains what all the commotion is about the piece of the Gehenna Stone that he has in his possession.
Madripoor:
Larry and Garry decide to get a room for the night at the Princess Bar, when Larry once more brags about the Gehenna Stone, Garry gets angry and hits him. The two get into a brief scuffle before Larry snaps out of his rage and the two brothers help themselves up and decide to go to the room that O'Donnell has provided for him. Their actions puzzle the bar owner.
San Francisco:
Burt tells them that his stone is but a fragment of a larger stone and explains it's origins: In ancient times in the land of Gehenna, perverse acts of evil were the rule of the day and the people there worshiped their leader the man-demon known as Ba'al, who would encourage them to commit their heinous acts -- chief among those the drinking of blood. Ba'al was eventually killed by a man known as the Hand of God a legendary warrior. Ba'al would live in as his evil essence would be transferred into the Gehenna Stone, created by his followers. However, the Hand of God would come and break the stone into fragments and scatter them across the globe.
Burt goes on to tell them that archaeologists began finding pieces of the stone, and for the most part believed the legend of the Gehenna Stone to be nothing more than a myth. When Burt heard that the stones were slowly being stolen over the course of the last two years, he used his money and influence to get on the board of directors of the San Francisco Museum of Antiques so that he could switch their chunk of the stone with a fake one so that he could protect it. When the others ask Burt how he learned of the plot to reassemble the Gehenna Stone, he tells him that he just knew. He finishes by telling them that he believes that someone claiming to be the descendant of Ba'al is the mastermind behind the plot to reassemble the stone. As they speed off to the airport, Patch asks to see the stone and they are all surprised to watch as Burt becomes excessively possessive about the stone and refuses to let it go. They carry on to the airport, unaware that Ba'al and his minions are waiting for them.
Madripoor:
Sleep isn't easy for Larry and Garry who begin to bicker with one another over the stone. They eventually get into a fight over it which ends with the two twin brothers -- once a tight-knit team -- stab each other with knives
San Francisco:
Patch and the others arrive at the airport to find that Ba'al and his army of vampires are waiting for them there. Patch orders them to go to the plane while he holds off their attackers, however, they are soon swarmed. In the scuffle, one of Ba'al's followers manages to knock out Burt and steal his fragment of the Gehenna Stone. As things rage on, Ba'al makes his presence known and Patch instantly attacks him. Furious that someone has the nerve to attack him, Ba'al's superior mystical powers and strength catch Patch off guard and he is easily beaten. Growing tired of battle, Ba'al orders his men to flee so that they might continue their search for the remaining fragments and escape by plane. In the aftermath of the battle, Burt becomes frantic to get his portion of the stone back and Archie knocks him out with a punch. Patch convinces him that they have to go after Ba'al and his followers to prevent him from reassembling the stone and they all run to Archie's plane to chase after them.
Madripoor:
O'Donell is sitting quietly watching the patrons in his bar when suddenly blood drops down the from the floor above and onto his table. Going to investigate, he finds Larry and Garry dead on the floor -- stabbed to death by their own knives -- and their fragment of the Gehenna Stone laying in a puddle of blood.

Synopsis: In the Air:
Patch, Archie, Burt, and Jessica Drew are flying after an airplane piloted by Ba'al and his followers who are making their getaway with fragments of the Gehenna Stone. As they close in for distance, Logan reflects on their trip to San Francisco that led to their clash with Ba'al and his minions then goes in back to get a more appropriate outfit from his luggage.
Madripoor:
At the Princess Bar, Police Chief Tai and Lindsay McCabe are on the scene as the Madripoor police take out the bodies of Larry and Garry, two twins who killed themselves over possession of a fragment of the Gehenna Stone. When O'Donnell shows the stone to Tai and McCabe, he refuses to relinquish it. While Tai is not interested in it and leaves, McCabe is mesmerized by it and asks to see it again, O'Donnell tells her to come back later, much later, and he will show it to her.
In the Air:
Jessica Drew's thoughts are of what Lindsay might be up to back in Madripoor and she also begins to wonder about her secret employment through Prince Baran and his desire for her to keep close tabs on Patch. Her thoughts are interrupted when a follower of Ba'al pops out of the side door of his plane with a machine gun and starts firing at Archie's plane. Jessica jumps out of Archie's craft and lands on the roof of Ba'al's in an attempt to stop the shooter, she is able to cling to the roof thanks to her remaining spider-powers. At this point Logan, having changed into his Wolverine costume comes out from the back of the plane and is filled in on what's going on. Diving out of the plane, Wolverine jumps out of the plane and clings onto Ba'al's thanks to his claws. After disarming the vampire shooting at them, Jessica reveals to Logan that she saw right through his Patch disguise all along.
Wolverine knocks two of shooters out of the way of the doorway and enters Ba'al's plane and begins brawling with his followers. He is shortly joined by Jessica, who was knocked out of the plane but managed to grab hold outside. Witnessing this, Archie flies his plane above Ba'al's while Burt drops down a rope ladder to try and help her. This doesn't go as planned as some of Ba'al's followers grab the rope ladder and begin climbing up to Archie's plane.
Madripoor:
O'Donnell is in his bedroom gazing at the portion of the Gehenna Stone when there is a knock at the door. Answering it he finds Lindsay McCabe is there. She tells him that she must see the stone, and he tells her that she can look at it tomorrow. When she takes off her coat to reveal that she is wearing nothing but a nightgown underneath insisting that he lets her hold the stone. He tells her that it all depends on how nicely she asks and the two embrace in a kiss.
In the Air:
As Wolverine continues to battle his way through the plane, Ba'al uses the partially reassembled Gehenna Stone to transform one of his followers into a bestial form and turns him loose on Logan. Wolverine finds this creature more than a match, however as they battle on, one of the creatures wild punches strikes the back of the head of the pilot, crushing his skull and killing him instantly. With the plane about to go down, Wolverine is caught in a bear hug, and manages to get free by ramming his claws into the plane's electrical panel, this gets the creature off him long enough to use his claws to cut a hole up to the roof and go to Jessica's aid. With Burt having fought off the vampires who attempt to board their ship (sending them falling to their deaths) Archie swings the plane around as Wolverine and Jessica jump off Ba'al's crashing aircraft. They manage to grab hold of Archie's rope ladder and get away safely as the plane crashes into the ocean seemingly killing Ba'al and his followers. As he watches the plane explode Wolverine witnesses that as the flames form into the face of Ba'al, in his mind Logan hears Ba'al mocking him and telling him that he is not defeated and this time not even the Hand of God can stop him from reforming the Gehenna stone.
Madripoor:
O'Donnell and Lindsay's love making is cut short when suddenly armed soldiers burst into their room. They are lead by Johann, Prince Baran's aid who tells them that the prince has learned that they have something that he wants right away.

Synopsis: Following their battle with Ba'al over the pacific ocean, Wolverine and his comrades have returned to Madripoor. Wolverine has taken to stalking the rooftops when he finds Police Chief Tai and his men hassling Lindsay McCabe, having become affected by the Gehenna Stone's influence, Tai has come to McCabe seeking to fragment that was in the possession of O'Donnell. Wolverine cuts in, and easily beats up the police officers and disarms Tai while Lindsay makes her escape. Not recognizing Logan as Patch, Tai warns Wolverine that he's a dead man as the mutant flees the scene.
Deciding to switch back to his Patch identity, Logan pays a visit to the Princess Bar, uncertain of what the whole altercation was about and has a hunch that it might have something to do with the Gehenna Stone. He walks in on O'Donnell and Lindsay just as the two are coming to blows, in a heated argument over recollecting the fragment of the stone that was taken from them by Prince Baran's men. Logan stops the fight from escalating further, however Lindsay gets a moment to knee O'Donnell in the groin before storming off and revealing that she too knew that Patch was also Wolverine. Much more to his irritation he finds out that O'Donnell knows as well, however he reflects back on his flight back to Madripoor with Jessica Drew and how she didn't mention she knew he was really Wolverine because someone with his temper and claws would be the last one to tell that you've seen through his flimsy disguise. As Logan and O'Donnell sit down to discuss things Archie bursts in screaming at Logan about how Burt has stormed off since they have arrived in Madripoor, however, Logan has him calm down (you can't argue with his claws after all) and listen to O'Donnell's story.
Elsewhere in Madripoor, Burt is wandering around wondering if running off on his brother was such a smart idea when much to his surprise he witnesses followers of Ba'al grab a Lowtown prostitute in order to make a blood sacrifice to their master. The problem is they also spotted Burt as well.
Back at the Princess Bar, O'Donnell tells Logan and Archie about how he claimed a strange gem from two men who had killed themselves in one of the rooms in the bar over it. He and Lindsay became entranced by it and in a moment of passion they were interrupted by Johann and the princess soldiers who came to claim the stone. O'Donnell would be forced to hand it over, however once it was in Johann's possession he would pull out a gun and threaten to kill Lindsay if they didn't give him back. Calling him on it, Johann and his men would leave the room, and although O'Donnell literally meant it, he didn't shoot her when they left. O'Donnell's story is interrupted when suddenly Tai and his officers storm the Princess Bar, also coming to seek the fragment of the Gehenna Stone.
Out on the streets, the vampire followers of Ba'al find that Burt Corrigan is not exactly a defenseless victim. He surprises them when he pulls out a whip and begins fighting them off. He soon becomes overpowered when he is saved by Jessica Drew who has been tailing him the whole time. She guns down most of the vampires but one manages to escape. Recognizing them as followers of Ba'al, Jessica and Burt follow after them.
The altercation at the Princess Bar meanwhile, has turned into an all-out brawl between Logan, O'Donnell, Archie and the police. Ultimately, the fight is stopped when Logan pins Tai to the wall and threatens to kill him if the fight continues. Logan then has them all compare notes and realizes that O'Donnell, Tai, and Lindsay were all in the proximity of a fragment of the Gehenna Stone and that it's influence had made them all become violently possessive of the object. Realizing it is now in the hands of the most powerful man in Madripoor, they all decide to go and seek out Prince Baran.
Meanwhile, Jessica has tracked the lone member of Ba'al's minions to the Princes palace. Thinking him to be an intruder, Jessica uses her credentials and ties to the Prince to grant an audience with him. She is invited in by Johann and brought to the prince. Before she can tell him about the ""intruder"" she is shocked to find and be introduced to the Prince's guest: Ba'al.
