Set Description


Blade Runner is widely known as one of the greatest and most influential sci-fi movies ever made. Released in theaters in 1982, it stars Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard, a Blade Runner on the hunt to capture escaped genetically engineered replicant humans who have illegally returned to Earth in the future year of 2019. The movie captures the attention of the viewer with deep concepts, intense action, and dystopian visuals based on the amazing concept artwork by the late Syd Mead, which is featured on the covers of many of the variant issues in this comic book run.


In 2017, a sequel to the movie was released, titled Blade Runner 2049. It also starred Harrison Ford, as well as Ryan Gosling and others, and continued on the deep themes of what it means to be human. The movie received rave reviews and again featured stunning visuals in a dystopian setting, and has sealed its fate as one of the greatest sequels ever made. The fantastic praise of the movie prompted the idea to continue the storylines further in other media formats, including comic books, anime shows, role-playing games, and more.


The comics continue the canon storyline of Blade Runner with old and new characters. They are published by Titan Comics and feature the writing of Michael Green, who also worked on the Blade Runner 2049 film. The story arcs take place before and in-between the first movie (the year 2019) and second movie (the year 2049). This includes the original Blade Runner Marvel movie adaption from 1982, as well as Blade Runner 2019, Blade Runner 2029, Blade Runner 2039, Blade Runner: Tokyo Nexus, Blade Runner: Black Lotus (a continuation of the anime TV show, also canon), and Blade Runner Origins.


The cover artwork on these comics features some current industry giants such as Peach Momoko, Dan Quintana, Stanley 'Artgerm' Lau, Ben Oliver, Warren Louw, and many more. It also features the original movie concept artwork of the late Syd Mead, which has become the most desirable comics to own in high grade within this run.

My set, shown below, includes every known variant ever released, all CGC graded. As of the time of this writing (November 5th, 2024) there are 306 comics in this set. More will continue to be added as new comics are released. I've added story arc synopsis to the owner description section of all Issue 1, Cover A books of each title in the run to give more in-depth detail to the stories being told here.




Here is the current breakdown of the CGC grades in my set:


The single 8.0 is a very hard-to-find Dutch variant of the 1982 Marvel Super Special #22. It's unlikely I'll be able to find a copy of this book in the 9's. The single 9.0 is the Blade Runner 2019 Free Comic Book Day France variant, another tough one to find for anyone not living in France at the time of its release. As I continue to increase the grades of my comics in this run, I'll update the details and pictures.

Set Goals

I fell in love with Blade Runner because of my deep affinity for sci-fi and how much these movies made me think about what it means to be alive. As soon as I heard comics were being released that added more world building, I started collecting them immediately. Being a collector as well as someone who loves visual storytelling, I just knew I had to have them all. My obsession has driven me to grow this hobby into the best framed collection of Blade Runner artwork in the world, with special thanks to CGC and the Blade Runner fans out there who've helped me along the way. It gives me so much pride in not only curating this set, but also in sharing it with fellow comic book fans, movie fans, and the world.

My personal goal is to get nearly all of the Blade Runner franchise comics in a 9.6 or higher.

#0 - USA Blade Runner 2019: Free Comic Book Day nn Modern 9.8 Synopsis: In the year 2000, at a food stand operated by Ash and her grandmother, LAPD officers take meals and refuse to pay, threatening to expose the stand's fake permit if they insist on payment.

In July 2009, Eldon Tyrell, Rhea McCallister, and Charles Edevane conduct a meeting concerning the murder of Lydia Kine – a worker in Edevane's lab – by the pleasure model Nexus-4 331575. Meanwhile, Ash blackmails Zhang in return for a back brace, allowing her to walk more efficiently without crutches.

In 2013, Ash performs a Voight-Kampff test on a female replicant and retires her, the first retirement of her Blade Runner career. 		View Comic
