Set Description
If you try to get celebrity signed books, you sometimes have to go to that magazine or oddball item. There isn't exactly a spot in the registry to go for the top pick (especially if you have the only one on the census).

These are those stories...

Karen Dotrice "Jane Banks of Mary Poppins": 10/28/22 Disney Channel Magazine v4 #9 Qualified SS 6.5 Qualified CGC SS, didn't realize it had a coupon cut off but I was in a rush to get a book and you guessed it, eBay...

They don't do hybrid labels it is all yellow with the notations on the back of the slab about the missing cutout.

Rich Henn was going to have Karen Dotrice the kid actress who played Jane Banks sign it at Chiller but she cancelled. He ran into her at a future show and this was a nice surprise when it hit my dashboard as we had originally planned to mail the book back but this is better. Just wish it wasn't a qualified but beggars can't be choosers.

Signed & "Jane Banks" By Karen Doctrice on 10/28/22 & graded on 4/24/23 (A important date in the family too!)

Grader Notes:
heavy creasing to cover
moderate spine stress lines to cover
Coupon cut out from 3rd page.

Guy Gilchirst: 5/22/21 Easter at the White House 1984 Program nn Signature 9.4 During the pandemic, Guy Gilchrist showed weekly on a Facebook live feed a at home comic show where he drew and talked about the history of his work like a panel. You didn't need a Facebook account to watch and if you wanted to purchase you either did a live claim or texted him a request.

I learned about his work on this piece via one of his shows and bought a copy off of eBay. In 2021 I had Dan Partouche get is remarqued with Kermit. Guy shared that they were rather rare as he recalled only signing less than five in a decade.

Dan sent it out for pressing for me upon hearing that and checking with me.

Signed, Sketch & "A Very Special Day! Love" By Guy Gilchrist on 5/22/21. Graded on 7/25/22.

I had asked either for a Kermit or Bean Bunny and Kermit did make sense as it is a green cover, Bean would have been cool from the old Easer special that Disney Plus needs to pick up!

Grader Notes:
light spine stress lines to cover

Henry Winkler: 5/17/19 Steve Whitmire: 11/8/19 Muppet Magazine v1 #4 Signature 5.5 Dan Partouche was at the two conventions in 2019 that Henry and Steve were present in. One of the main articles was Fozzie Meets Henry Winkler and the front cover has Henry Winkler, Fozzie, and Kermit dressed as Fonzie so I had to have Henry Winkler and Steve Whitmire sign.

Signed by Henry Winkler on 5/17/19 & Steve Whitmire on 11/8/19. Last graded on 1/6/20.

Henry Winkler: 4/1/23 Muppet Magazine v1 #4 Signature 6.0 Henry Winkler has always been one of my favorite actors. I grew up on rerun shows that my mom watched on TV as my parents way of censoring what I watched. So old school cartoons, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and reruns my friends had no idea what I was talking about with The Brady Bunch.

This is the second copy I have had Henry Winkler sign. Agents of Slabs facilitated this at Mega Con Orlando 2023.

Signed by Henry Winkler on 4/1/23 & graded on 5/15/23.

Grader Notes:
finger bends back cover
finger bends front cover
rippling back cover
multiple scratch center of front cover

This isn't exactly a copy you can buy slabbed and crack for signature series as they don't exist. My option is eBay and hope for a complete copy that is high grade.

Jeff Lee: Creator of Q*bert! 2/22/20 Q*bert Game Manual nn Signature 9.2 This is definitely one oddball that will never get a registry set.

Q*bert Game Manual for Atari 1988, signed and Q*bert speaking language as the sketch by Jeff Lee on 2/22/20.
This would be Rich Henn's last convention for a bit as COVID made the world stand still.

Graded by CGC on 4/29/20.

Scott Hanna & Barry Kitson: 10/29/22 Secret Invasion: Fantastic Four 1 Signature 9.6 I had originally bought this years ago off of eBay, before I really got into submitting books for signature series. I was building at the time a master set raw of Secret Invasion books and couldn't pass up the deal to have this for about $20. Fast forward for the past five years I have wanted to add the book to the signature series program but couldn't get both Scott Hanna and Barry Kitson at the same show.

It isn't the type of book I'd be willing to send off for multiple cracking and slabbing so when the chance came for Rich Henn to get it done at Baltimore 2022, I sent it to him. In retrospect the only thing different I would have done was get the custom Fantastic Four label. I had gotten it press based off an old back corner minor dent that did press out but the grade didn't go up. It's the game we play though, you win some and loose some.

Signed by Scott Hanna & Barry Kitson on 10/29/22. CGC Graded on 11/18/22.

Caroll Spinney: 11/3/19 Sesame Street Magazine 200 Signature 6.0 Rich Henn was at Rhode Island Comic Con on what would have been Caroll Spinney's last ever convention. They got this signed on the last day of the show. Originally I had hoped for a remarque of Oscar or Big Bird as he was a bit of a artist too but was told he could barely sign and managed to get in his last name.

Rest In Peace Caroll, Sesame Street isn't the same.

Signed by Caroll Spinney on 11/3/19 & graded on 2/7/20. Rich had asked how this one came out and he thought it came a little higher than he thought. I was picturing a 5.5 myself. Maybe it will drop if I add Steve Whitmire to it, on the fence as this is my only Caroll Spinney and it is the only one on census and the last day he ever signed a witnessed autograph...

Anthony Daniels "C-EP0": 6/3/22 Star Wars: Return of the Jedi: Multiplication nn Signature 8.0 Always wanted a Anthony Daniels autograph but never at a show that he was appearing at. "I mostly do small shows in NJ or PA".

Rich Henn was going to DC Awesome Con 2022 so this was sent in, a book I found in a dollar box of old Mad Magazines around 2015 at Scranton Comic Con. I had planned on having Kenny Baker R2D2 sign it at a Rhode Island Convention but just before I was going to order tickets he passed on so it has sit in waiting for years.

Trish Forstner: 10/23/21 Stray Dogs Trade Paperback nn Signature 9.2 This was a bit of a surprise when I saw it on eBay, having never seen a trade paperback slabbed before and in the signature series program to boot. I put in a bid well below grading fees and was surprised to be the winner.

Mash: Loretta Swit 10/29/21 Jamie Farr: 4/30/22 Jeff Max & Igor: 4/30/22 TV nn Signature 4.0 Rich Henn: Chiller Theater Fall 2021 & Spring 2022

In recent years, I have come across the series Mash. When I was a kid I wasn't allowed to watch due to the number of deaths. (This is a war show seen through eyes of a medical unit in Korea.) I knew about Loretta Swit though as she went to school with my grandmother at a catholic school although they weren't in the same circles.

When I met Loretta at a convention she shared that she was in the same school and instantly knew that my grandmother wasn't in the same graduating year as her and we talked a bit about her time in New Jersey. Later as a actress my grandfather at one time worked at a deli and had to be the one who waited on her as the others were too shy to take her orders.

Rich Henn usually goes to Chiller for a couple hours one day during the three days so if you have a request you got to get to him as soon as possible and hope your guest is there on the day he is.

Fall 2021 all three were supposed to be there but Jamie and Max cancelled so he was able to get Loretta. I know it isn't the highest grade TV guide but I wanted a period piece from when Mash was active. So yeah, the depths of eBay where high grade isn't always the option. At least this is complete despite the cover being detached due to staple rust.

This was the time when CGC was super backlogged on magazines which at the time I wasn't worried about. Then, the spring roster of guests stared appearing and it showed Max and Loretta were there. It was close enough that it arrived at my home and I needed to send it next day to make it in time. There was three days till his last cut off when I mailed it. Luckily if I send UPS it is 99% guaranteed next day with the route the truck takes without extra fees.

Always on the lookout to add more Mash to this, especially with the new magazine case and you can add names and facts onto the back cover of the label and not just knock signatures to last names.

Grader Notes:

Staple Heavy Rusted

Peter Robbins "Original Charlie Brown": 11/8/19 USA Philatelic 20 Signature 9.2 Another oddball lone wolf on the census. Peter Robbins was the original voice actor for Charlie Brown. Charles Shultz made it a point of using kids to voice the kids on the Snoopy specials and cartoon shows so when their voices changed during those magical years, new actors and actresses were chosen.

Dan Partouche was at one of his usual Galaxy Con's so I had him get this Philatelic Magazine signed for me.

Signed & "Voice CB" By Peter Robbins on 11/8/19 & Graded on 1/6/20.
