Skybound offered attendees at The Walking Dead Escape a new version of The Walking Dead #1, the 2003 Image comic book by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore that started the multimedia franchise. The tour-specific variant cover was illustrated by Juan Jose Ryp and colorist Dave Stewart, featuring Rick and Carl Grimes.
The cover was available to the first 1,000 people signed up as either a "Walker" or "Survivor" at each stop on the tour, which started in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on 24/4/2014. For those not one of the initial thousand, the comic was also on sale throughout the tour. Those who purchased VIP tickets received the black-and-white cover variant.
The tour had eight stops as below, including the final event at San Diego's Petco Park during Comic-Con International, the original home of the event two years earlier (2012).

• San Diego, CA - July 25 and 26 at Petco Park surrounding Comic Con 2014
