Synopsis: Carol returns home after an all-night date with Sam Adams, and minutes after he leaves, Carol is stunned when a knock at the door reveals Salia Petrie, her astronaut friend who she was sure had died months earlier. Salia collapses after weakly speaking no more than a few words, but soon wakes up and shoots beams out of her eyes that knock Carol unconscious.

She awakens on Drydock Station one thousand miles above the Earth’s surface where she finds that she’s now a prisoner of a villain called the Faceless One. The gold-helmeted man has already used his psycho-surgical skills to bend Salia Petrie to his will and intends to do the same to Carol after subjecting her to physical torture inside the station’s environmental test chamber. But he’s unaware of Carol’s super-powers, and she escapes the chamber without his knowledge. Transforming into Ms. Marvel, Carol resolves to find the Guardians of the Galaxy, who control the station. She meets Vance Astro and they fend off an attack from Salia, who has been given body armor bristling with exotic weaponry. They pursue Salia into a massive room where they find the Faceless One trying to break into the primary computer core, which will give him complete control of Drydock Station.

Ms. Marvel knocks his head off, discovering his android nature in the process, and after freezing his radio-controlled body with liquid helium, removing it as a threat when it shatters, the defeated head activates a teleport sequence, intending to return to its own realm and take Salia with it. Vance disrupts the sequence with his psychokinesis and the Faceless One disappears, leaving Salia behind. He then uses his ability to destroy a control element under Salia’s skin, freeing her from the Faceless One’s influence. Ms. Marvel reveals her true identity as Carol Danvers to Salia to calm her and holds her while she breaks down from the stress.
