Synopsis: Ms. Marvel takes a direct hit from the Centurion’s force beam and falls out of the sky into a skyscraper’s top-floor restaurant. But the attack is noticed by the Wasp and the Scarlet Witch, who happen to be shopping nearby, and they immediately come to Ms. Marvel’s assistance, joined minutes later by Wonder Man, the Vision and Yellowjacket.

After turning back into Carol for momentary recovery and losing Centurion in the process, she theorizes that Centurion can’t find her when she’s Carol. When Wonder Man saves her from a collapsing building, thinking she’s an innocent bystander, and Centurion flies past them, her theory that his computer is only tracking her costume is confirmed.

Elsewhere, in the Pentagon office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Development, Raven Darkholme complies with her mysterious superior’s orders to call off the attack on Ms. Marvel. Her superior is concerned that each failed attack increases the risk of Raven’s exposure, and she is currently too valuable of an operative to lose.

During a pause in the battle, the Avengers debate whether they should be fighting someone who seems to be acting with official SHIELD sanction. Carol breaks up their argument by rushing in, picking up Wonder Man and throwing him at the hovering Centurion. She’s improvised a new costume, a simple black leotard, but it works as Centurion can’t counterattack fast enough. The Avengers rejoin the fight and Ms. Marvel leads Centurion into a nearby power plant where she uses a stripped-down generator to rig a strong magnetic field, which scrambles the Centurion’s magnetic bubble memory core and overloads his entire power system. Ms. Marvel grabs the blaster off of his arm and throws in into the sky seconds before it explodes. As the Avengers arrive, she unmasks Centurion to find an unconscious Ballard. While she’s glad to finally have him in custody, Carol can’t help but wonder who sent him, and for what reason.
