Set Description:
Whether there is a thing such as these coincidence's is left to our best judgement. Speaking up for those seemingly defenseless is honorable. It is what we decide to do with those skills, of mercy in justice, that demand those claws of perfection.
Alone in the Dark! "Hit the Lights!" ~ Metallica
X-23 is a major character and seemingly the 1st major effective transition from Wolverine offspring that was also a part of the Weapon X program!
Wolverine was a part of it too, unwillingly, but this X-23 may be a breed of clone that needs explaining. The first resulting members were Laura Kinney who is X-23, and later the Honey Badger! Needing a few issues under her belt, Laura takes up to new ideas and motives, learning the streets and gaining allies that will be around for series to come.
She's out to make an impact!
Inspiring and Inquiring, only hoping to not lead to Conspiring!
Hopefully, this version of the Wolverine has a better off time mentally! Time is on her side as a youth in X-23.
Is she needing to learn from the stability of Logan to know how to survive?
Those streets aren't smart at all we come to find in an everyday sense, but the street is in most of these issues living rooms where escape seems futile. Those are tough things to speak of, and for a hero to come of it will take something and the "what" will be by character building and writers and or artists discretion.
It is as it goes from dust we came and to it return, in that it means X-23 is helping a lot at this point get people to "return" and fast! She becomes a character that is attentive and a listener, but what she hears is acted on, however it hasn't been spoken of in tones of Laura's own authority (or as much) in this series.
As she speaks through her actions, of which in this series she lets speak on their own. Owning them by acting out passions, and while she has some quiet time, chooses to ponder what it is that will become of her and how it may be in her future.

1st Kiden Nixon. Complete with a name straight from the street, as there are heroes from all walks of life! We have found some valor from the most unexpected places, and yet everyone has their own struggles and within their own environment. We have to make the best decisions possible, and there is no one exempt from the various trials and tribulations. Taking the bad and turning it for the good is possible and takes a higher power, and it is not always according to what we envisioned. We make do with the circumstances we are dealt, hoping to endure and hoping against hope, as WE HOPE TO THE BITTER END. Lives here are in the balance within the NYX series, and it isn't all that glamorous an occurrence, but we've come to understand that it is unfortunately common. There must be something to these "life lessons" learned, and for what purpose but to help others?!? Bought from Ebay at $49 in CGC 9.2 to match my #3 issue. A starter set in the 9's or Near Mint ranges, I'll Take It!
Wristbands carve out stamps for prescreens.
Complete with a back cover picture of the "screen" at the prescreen before publicly released of what the NYX reads as, and can also feel like, in the "Hunger Games: The Ballard of Songbirds & Snakes!" Not always helpless but needing to stand up for oneself and taking up a cause by making some changes for the betterment! Those are some dicey type maneuvers!

Joe Quesada story. Joshua Middleton cover & art. NYX reads as tough as nails, as this life can result in not being able to catch a break. A cause and a hope make for a worthy motivator. Filling the heart to put our lives to good use. The heart isn't all knowing but needs believing and acquainting with faithful love. A hope that is not ashamed, and a faith worth trusting. It counts on us to believe and act accordingly. There will be issues beyond our kin or even within the realm of our lives that find their solutions to a surprising outcome. This series has certain "powers" to help in situations and helping others avoid hardship, but to them, it is called surviving. It calls to mind that there are different kinds of heroes. Bought this from Duncanville Bookstore, a LCS, when a friend was visiting from another country. Completing my set of all the issues, #1-7! All slabbed and accounted for with a fair amount of near mint in the mix.
A movie that I won "free" movie credits to see, "Megalopolis!" It was an arduous journey to watch and follow, as sometimes is NYX except when X-23 proves her courage to act on instinct. Those motives don't always make the actions correct or justified, but it does give you some assurance to know that there is recompense or comeuppance, and or that makes sense.
Complete with a back cover picture of the insides to this #2 issue, showing the stalemate of stopped time and how not all altered states of motion avoid the conflict, when Kiden stops time to reangle the shot in the hallway and an innocent bystander gets thrown beneath the bus.

1st X-23! Redemption seems to be on everyone's thoughts, for the first appearance of Laura Kinney as X-23, who is a clone. She'll go on to find out there are other clones, and that she is far from "unique", but may be the first of a "kind". I'm happy with the 9.2 grade, even after seeing this on sale in higher grade for lower prices. I paid $350! (pun intended but still true) With the success of the movie Logan, ground swell for this character has struck a chord with many a fan, me included! Hopeful for more X-23. She's snazzy nowadays in a suit similar to Wolverine, but back in the NYX series she didn't have too much in the way of possessions. She was getting those street smarts. Those may help, as problems occur on some level and no matter how well off you are, and it is what you do with those lessons that give life merit. All the more this hit taker will keep the stamina and endurance, though mentors early on will seek to guide her and will. Only by making her own choices, gaining experience, and seeing results for herself will she gain the needed confidence.
It HAS NOT been retconned to include X-23 as the test tube in this Wolverine issue, but it does say it "on the test tube" and whether there is a thing such as these coincidence's is left to our best judgement. This one from my subscription as a kid to the "Wolverine 1988 Series!"
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Hustlers!" Similar to the NYX #3 issue, the movie is where the Hustlers get over on the "John's" and starring Jennifer Lopez! At the prescreen they even had girls dancing on poles but no stripping, ha-ha. PG or maybe PG-13, though the movie was Rated R, the showing was at a regular theater. Color me silly, I was going to need it! ~ to paraphrase Green Day
Grader Notes:
crease left bottom of front cover breaks color;
multiple bend spine.

2nd X-23. I bought this at Fan Expo Dallas 2017, and with the Logan movie around the corner, X-23 will get her day in the spotlight. Daken Too! Yes, the movies were awesome, and or, something different to behold. This book fluctuates in popularity though. Picked up the rest of NYX, or well most of them and fairly cheap. I've held onto a few, as I may want to complete the set-in slab form. The cover is a little striking as I believe that she just killed a "john" though she claims innocence. 2nd appearance, and almost a standalone character, despite being a "clone" or some such from Wolverine. She has her own thoughts and morals. She is somewhat shaky with them at first once finding out her "own origin", until the X-men meet her and calm the rage a bit. Creating issues that bring on the justice, if it can be called that, in a sense of what a possible X-man stands for but is also capable! While that may be in my opinion only, it is not lacking in the "retribution" that makes X-23 think twice and tick in instinct! All while hopefully purposing life for the better!
Complete with a back cover picture of Billy Corgan from Smashing Pumpkins at the September 11th, 2024, concert where they warmed up for Green Day. To say NYX and Co. are having a time of it is a smashing understatement, when the tones are meant to intrigue but it all seems clothed in dark raiment and a little moody with emotions, and not the Aerosmith "sweet" kind!
Grader Notes:
light bends to cover;
light spine stress lines to cover.

To think someone cloned a sheep! Is it animals or their spirit that truly can comfort the soul? It takes the vulnerability within to let anything or anyone else in, and by chance the X-23 is coming by it honestly. She is Laura Kinney, and she is healing the best she knows how, as it will go from innocence to heightened senses with an instinct to help the helpless. She isn't making decisions for herself quite yet and is just surviving to understand what she has known from the beginning, pain! It takes those examples of others who are loving to show the tender side as an example of what could become her character. Picked up early on when back into collecting from Titan Comics, who had this graded as a VF. Bought at cover price when I was learning the ropes, and with X-23, who was a character worth delving into and discovering the wherewithal that she can survive!
Speaking up for those seemingly defenseless is honorable. In fact, nature and instinct causes us all to do something about pet peeves. It is what we decide to do with those skills, of mercy in justice, that demand those claws of perfection.
Complete with a back cover picture of the prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Gracie and Pedro: PETS TO THE RESCUE!" Rescuing us from boredom with their antics, need of love, and furry selves that we are all willing to deal with and accept the responsibility! Love is like an ocean, joy a fountain, and peace like a river.

Clones and clones are racking up the points within the system, and not always legally but those are the hard knock lives. In sweeps the blade of recollection that cuts like a knife and again ends with the demise of the nefarious. Control is not always easy to manage, and this issue tries to show that we shouldn't try to control others. Realizing much of life is beyond the realm of our own personal control, and it means a call on a higher power. The X-23 self-proclaimed instinct and instant action makes for good showmanship, but it is the too permanent a solution that boggles her mind. In the end, laying down one's life for another is to be considered the ultimate love and sacrifice. Those lessons don't come easy, as some things are taught and can still be lost in the mind. They can be found in the moment, in the call to action, when instinct overrides and causes one to act in faith. Obedience is better than sacrifice, although we try to live as an example.

Alone in the Dark! "Hit the Lights!" ~ Metallica
Complete with a back cover picture of the "screen" at the prescreen before released publicly of, "Gemini Man!" Starring Will Smith and having himself as a clone for a "movie faceoff", of wits and skill. Sent to take each other out, but which is better? The real deal? The otherwise knowledgeable mimic? Will real life experience outperform a copy? The "Alone in the Dark" video game relieved the trauma of those shadowlike boxing characters with a secured fastened light in a name brand promotion, and that helps describe this issue, when NYX saw the light in this mature read. Some jump scares in text, but not without comeuppance!

Joe Quesada story. Robert Teranishi art. Joshua Middleton cover. The story is somewhat resolved by the final issue, as all "youngsters" are aboard and accounted for, but those circumstances and situations made them wiser while still feeling ill at ease. A mature read tale, that is hard to follow but leaves off where these girls met! Three youths that have been united through the bonds of tribulation, and surviving, despite all they've come across so far in life. Picked up early on into collecting, by a wind that spoke of X-23 and me trying to figure it all out. Growing up quick is hardly ever easy. Bought for cover price from Titan Comics a (LCS) Local Comic Shop, and near mint/mint at that, which makes this an easy reader copy to have graded. Relaxing while somehow having overcome obstacles! Ordeals that result in reflection among the grassy field and contemplating on the three-fold chord that is not easily broken nor torn anymore!
Come to find out that there were more offspring, from the loins of Logan. It wasn't all considered canon for a while, I think, but it got around into collections all the same.
Complete with a back cover picture of the future ongoing series of X-23, that shows she does indeed grow quickly. Early adulthood can show her lacking. Her experience will come, as will her baseline to be self-taught, and the latter is much like unto Logan the Wolverine.
