Set Description:
Somewhat a bygone era where there seemed to be more demand for a bunch of distributions, were newsstands and where people got their information to then spread around town. For some it was with anticipation, some expectancy, some with passiveness, and yes, some with a downright blase attitude! Then one day and for comics specifically, it dried up and was no longer available at all. The common newsstand of other type print can still be found, however, and yet it calls for times of "past reckoning!" What it has currently been recollected and regarded as is, well, the past? For how long?
Finding a gathering of individuals around information such as newsstands could be considered boring unless for nationwide hysteria, but there were the funny pages and the brighter side of things too.
Finding a comfortable place to delve in with reading up on our favorite super-heroes, finds it in an Amazing Spider-man. Whether in passing or from brick and mortars, the eventual fondness of comics has done well. If such for origin material only, we find those big action type pillars of institutions. Now an age gone by, newsstands were fillers of those distributions with longtime standings in the minds and hearts of collectors. It will fill the void now that Local Comic Stores can do more promoting with followers of movies, toys, and yes, an occasional back issue, too! We are comfortable with the options available, but this too may shake up the business that once seemed all too normal. A market built over time and years, yes, let us not forget the newsstands, and from where we originated those memories.

$2.99 Newsstand Edition of the 1st Appearance of a New Spider-man Costume! Iron Spider? Awesome cover though, and seemingly Mary Jane ends up wearing this costume too! Sweet! Glad to add this presentable copy, a Dave & Adams find, get them while they're HOT!! Again, awesomely used in the movies, and effective too. Still needs a more pivotal role in the movies, although in comics we have people using this suit out the wazoo. Mary Jane, kick butt girl that she is, even saves the day in this suit. Useful can be relative, I believe in comics it proved its salt. Just when things look too tumultuous another invention comes to the forefront of the battle torn Spidey universe. There will ever be one that takes up the mantle in times of trouble, but victory comes at a cost and what about reputation. We can't all be on the battlefield or if ever we suffered loss, it would be a catastrophe!
Complete with a back cover picture of the Alex Ross example of Mary Jane using the "Iron Spider" suit, in some fine representation! I have it pinned up to admire, although it is a reader copy for now.

$3.99 Newsstand Edition. 1st appearance of "Screwball", Paper Doll (Piper Dali) & Bobby Carr! A social media villain. She strikes to get followers. Eek! A real screwy squirrel that one! Interesting Graders Notes, as I bought this already slabbed, and these notes are odd. Amazing Grade and presents really well for the condition. I'm not sure if it has a manufacturing error or not, but it was made weird even though it presents normal. I stumbled on the Ebay listing, so I got it fairly cheap. It's just an oddity, a collecting niche oddity. Still, who would have known that this 1st appearance would be printed on the CGC label? I mean c'mon who has heard of these characters? Just one of those things that make you go, "cool?!?" The cover is kind of similar to the Iron Man cover with him jumping out of the Hele carrier after his suit, but with a Spider Web incoming!
Complete with back cover of the insides to this issue of course! Gets off to a funky start with the name brazenly scrawled across the sweatpants! A bunch of firsts in this issue and if ever revisited, these will be scooped up!
Grader Notes:
light miscut full top of through book;
spine stress lines breaks color.

$4.99 Newsstand Edition! Cool Cover, an easy on the eyes Romita Jr cover. Glad to add this books slot to the registry to make it available to show in my collection! Nice that this issue was available in Local Comic Stores AND on the newsstands of places like Barnes and Noble! Still given that it's Romita Jr., he has a reputation. I like this one individually because it has the classic Spider ripping' off the costume like venom was underneath trying to get out. It strikes me as a bit of a Superman homage too, slap a tie on there and voila! It already looks like Spidey has glasses. Does Peter Parker still wear glasses? I know I've seen him with them and without. Rest assured, the Parker of a Spider is still an old fashioned "nerd" with some "know-how" and a bit of overconfident "swagger!" It is odd that last word kind of reminds me of a Ke$ha song, but then Spidey has the groove to make you move!
Complete with back cover pic of the run up to this Newsstand issue, with some firsts such as daughter of Kraven the hunter!! My readers, but in succession to this Newsstand issue!

$3.99 Newsstand Edition. Eddie Brock becomes Anti-Venom. Thunderbolts (Norman Osborn, Radioactive Man, Songbird, Bullseye & Venom) app. These could be found other than your Local Comic Shop/Store, but that didn't keep those speculators from scooping up redeemable copies for slabbing. Who knew that these would keep an established distribution other than the direct format, to end up on the CGC label as "recognized!?" ANYWAY, I also have the Venom Alpha #1 where someone else becomes "Anti-Venom" as well, but these are the firsts in that regard I believe. These Venoms and symbiotes are exploding into all different colors on the market, this one being white, yet not as many as the "Goblin" to be sure. Maybe there is competition for the stories and plots? I don't know, but there is a lot invested to not make something of it, of that, I'm certain!
Complete with a back cover picture of the surrounding issues that were killer-diller packed with action, pulling out all the stops! Giving some shout outs to presidents, even 1st appearance of Barack Obama in issue #583!

$3.99 Newsstand Edition J Scott Campbell? Yes, PLEASE! Great Mary Jane looking after Peter Parker! The Amazing Spider-man! Got it for cheap-cheap-cheap, Holy BLESSED. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, which I've come to realize means looking at a horse's teeth to tell the age, after a win! I've since received some "over graded" "raws" from Duncanville Bookstore where I got this copy. When I got this #601 however Duncanville had it raw graded at only 6.0. Take your winnings and don't gripe, be happy, but be aware. Factor in all the possibilities. Super grateful to have found such a pleasant surprise in this copy! Always count your blessings, totally worth it! I did not press this one, nor did I have it signed. I guess it originally started out to just be a "place holder", and yet, now that it is a VF 8.0? I'll take that as a win and not worry so much. Very few around in that regard.
Complete with a back cover picture of "if I were single, I'd date Mary Jane and do my own laundry!" A Mary Jane by Adam Hughes that appeared in his Sketch Book Biggest Hits and was also a statue. If I dated MS Jane, she'd never lift a finger.
Grader Notes:
light creasing to cover;
moderate spine stress lines to cover.

$3.99 Newsstand Edition. 1st Appearance of the "New Slyde". Mary Jane with her moped gracing the front cover, and seemingly floating on air! Glad to have this high-grade example in my collection of the "newsstands" that once graced convenience stores when I was a kid! Slyde will keep up with the best of them and is usually being chased! I'm older now and I wonder if maybe the original Slyde was as smug? I'm joshing of course, but the attitude seems to be too slick. Brash can make a villain, if only equal to Spider-man's sarcasm! If he wasn't already on the wrong side, Spidey probably wouldn't have written him off so quickly, but I guess that was the plot to "Slyde" then and now! Spidey invented web shooters nonetheless and they can take your breath away, at a brisk pace or at a steady space, and which calls to mind how quick is Spider-man's web to be achieving these speeds. Without relevance? Since Slyde is about speed, maybe the exercise will do Parker some good, and he can rest later! Let's get the party started.
Complete with a back cover of the insides to this issue of course! He could be a common thief or somewhere under the law for sure, but Spidey needs to be sure! Spider-Man has been around long enough to act on impulse and deal with the consequences, it just makes him continue having to repair his good name. Let it not be said that he would allow wrongdoing, but those impulse decisions get him in hot water. The sarcasm is funny, and yet, it is due to impossible situations used as a defense mechanism. Press Candidate.
Grader Notes;
light spine stress lines to cover.

$3.99 Newsstand Edition in 9.8! A Natural Born Killers looking Mary Jane! It's interesting that the barcode while showing as a Newsstand, does not say Amazing Spider-man near the barcode. Instead, it says "Friendly Neighborhood Spider-man." I'm not sure the name of the type of pattern on the dress of the cover. I thought maybe a type of Maud or Plaid, and yet, it almost looks like a wallpaper finish if I'm honest. 1960's or 1970's for sure though! Bought this already graded and slabbed, with only like 5 to 6 9.8's on the census at the time too, in 2021. Boardie Bladetx even bought a copy, due to my interest. Still, it is Mary Jane! What can I say? Despite anything to the contrary, her and Gwen seemed to be the most faithful partners to a Spider. They were loyal and that needs to be mentioned to their credit, as it would be like dating a policeman, that Spider-man. I get that Peter is a hero, but sometimes he doesn't act like it, or sometimes, he doesn't even feel to deserve the moniker. I am daily grateful for the mercies that are new each morning, we don't always get what we deserve, though we try our best!
Complete with a back cover picture of what Mary can probably afford a real version of with her styling and profiling ways of flair, but with Hot Wheels as an example. Sporting around Iron Man and Spidey, she needs a Camero, although Mrs. Jane sometimes feels the simple life is where home and the heart IS!

Campbell Cover $3.99 Newsstand Edition, and it's Kind of Beat Up at 5.5, but I can dig it! It will do, until I find an upgrade. Found it raw at Keith's Comics for $10, they were glad it sold, and I had some spare change! Awesome that this copy wasn't just thrown away into the trash! This has bad situations written all over the cover. All I can think is, "Parker has got away with it before, but now he's busted and somehow doesn't feel years of guilt?" How do you explain that away, for shame Parker, for SHAME. I may have to give some extra love to those I currently know in retrospect. Mission accomplished in summing up the expectations, love rekindled doesn't always mean to speculate on where it started from, but from where it finishes and arrived in the end! Family means a lot, and to those for comics, better put a ring on it!
Complete with a back cover pic of the J. Scott Campbell Sideshow statue of the Black Cat, with her suit flails and jumping on the Spider-man grenade! Cost about $230 from the Local Comic Shop Keith's Comics. It was maybe 2017 and I was new to statues, and Campbell was so sleek and stylish. Bought a lot of raw comics then too!

$3.99 Newsstand Edition of an Awesome Scott Campbell cover of good girl art!! Win, Win. I'm glad to be the one to get this "Edition" added to the book slots of the Registry! I did the same with #606 Newsstand Edition! This was my first of the two, and a sweet addition that I'm glad to have started collecting. Sometimes things fall into place rather than into your lap, so I had to buy this already slabbed. Still in awesome shape from the caretaker who had it before me, and they did a fair job of preserving the cover at least. That cover is a googly moogly nice piece of cheese. Old hat to those who have seen stuff like this before, but a fair amount of allure to it for sure. Add in the Newsstand factor, and I'll take it! There are niches and then there is just buying for fun, there is not always a fine line; although usually it can be found if you want to heed it!
Complete with a back cover picture of mischief with the Lucky Powered Black Cat! She's got the wind up and the goods, hard to crack, and supplied by my brother Christmas circa 2023!
Grader Notes:
moderate bends to cover;
moderate spine stress lines to cover.

$4.99 Newsstand Edition! 1st appearance of the new Rhino. Rhino (Sytsevich) & Doctor Tramma app Newsstand Edition CGC 9.4. Got the courage to add this prospect of a slab, it's neat. I was attracted to the cover, and it's a nice picture taker of a cover. Praise the one above that had me spy it so easily, to take it to the bank. Faithfully pursued, the Newsstand Editions can have their day in the sun, but we need to at least be aware of them. Keeping with timing in full effect, we can capitalize by rescuing from the trash bin. The Rhino's 1st app, ever, would be out of my price range, I think. This seems a good substitute, although most of the time, 1st appearances are never really afar off. I hope that the attention to detail by the friendly collector out there will keep at it! The lovable behemoth Rhino has since gone on to meet and play tag with many other Spidey's across the Universe.
Complete with a back cover picture of the insides to this issue of course! It has the New Rhino with his heist of the evening. A night out on the town, while Parker is getting a rude awakening of his own! How will the two be fixed up by the end of the issue? It isn't fate nor a date, but that is life in the big city!
Grader Notes:
light spine stress lines to cover;
very light finger bends on cover.
