Perhaps the longest running magazine to date. Many, Many COVERS and inspirations from the public arena. This magazine had everything from satire to slapstick, even to contests! Started mid-20th century, don't we all feel old now, but we laughed until we slapped our knees! lol. Parodies and many of them, including but not limited to, Spy vs Spy. These were the jokes, and they even made it to a TV show. Of whom the actors and actresses "then" went on to great and mighty things! Ha-ha
Mad is silly and not angry, but madness goes both ways, that is to say welcome to MAD! Who me? Freddy Newman should have it so lucky, Me Worry? It is the Mad that has us up all night in stitches.

I was going to use the prescreen pass for the movie Red One circa 2024 but that isn't quite a comparison. Except to say children of this era and when this issue came out had the feeling of embarrassment or a type of guilt that spawned a red blush when hoarding these humor attempts to peruse and trade. Those were days that were brazen, yes and semi-attempts at different brands of humor. Where we were always disciplined in the seriousness of the matter, and a nonchalant attitude proved a disrespect in the act of growing up or maturing. To adults who could decide for themselves, it was hilarious and often met with bragging and or tradition of a reputation. As silly we all were for this "kind" of street cred, it too has its adolescence innocence in a train of thought or times and ages. We all have hangups and the key is to not hang our hat on them, but instead, to do better than those who have gone before us, that notion was not lost on those of whom we were raised! That lives on today as we bear the responsibility as a parent or role model.
