Set Description:
Under copies, and also signature series. We need to tag in the Hulk to tackle this set! Creator Stan Lee fashioned the Hulk in his origin, and it was in the Stan think tank, due to something nuclear. Creators keep lining them up and the Hulk comes to grips ON HIS OWN TERMS. There is no stopping the strong arm! Even an appearance by Quasar and others like the Raccoon called "Rocket!" These pages have the Hulk in prison trying to help the Cracker Jacks of the world. No one is too late to be helped by the Hulk.
The "Complete with Variants" set is still almost getting too rich for my blood but tell that to the stack of hulk comics to be read. It's as if they're plucking Hulks like monkeys from a barrel! I just don't want them to be over after reading.

Lastly the Hulk is doing as he pleases and is usually what he wants, but the pesky writers and creators are becoming used to testing the Hulk's usefulness. The thinking is that he does not always need to be a brute force, though mostly he is early on, is something for them to consider. In some cases the Hulk becomes fleshed out to something bigger and stronger than he already is! Hulk has mortal enemies, and some not so much, as he himself within his inner struggle becomes simple and helps out his neighbor, which is immortally "the way!" Taking it one day at a time usually brings the Hulk to his knees, and in solitude prayer or thoughts he himself slowly understands to "make do" with his intelligence! By what rhyme or reason, he didn't know at first, but takes a gamble. With most often his brute force being that two-sided coin. The flip side is arguably that his own conscience wins out over his fisticuffs mentality. Not overly concerned for himself when as impenetrable, he takes thought or whimsy to certain lowly humans.

Continued from Tales to Astonish #101 Warriors Three, Enchantress and Odin appearance. Origin of Hulk retold. Happy! Even in 2.5 CGC it is an established book and a caveat to the collection. A needed one and an origin of the Hulk, retold! Indeed sometimes we take what we can get, and that classic style cover of the Bruce Banner transition into the Hulk is all that I needed to seal the deal. I love that the greenish cover is more due to the Incredible Hulk, rather than the "background!" I got this from Dave and Adams website at $128 shipped, although I bought it on a Friday and it showed sold on ebay the next day. We'll see on the following Monday, if it is secured and mine! Sometimes the Internet and weekend working hours are a madhouse. I'm longing to add pics of the slab to round out my registry of Hulk for my collection. What-What!!
Complete with a back cover picture of the one that started the trend for me in DVD form. Let's say, a run of embellishments to curate a steward of comics came from seeing the awesome fight in quick flashes of the moving pictures!
Grader Notes:
staple detached top of spine;
moderate creasing to cover;
moderate scuffing to cover;
moderate staining to cover.

DOUBLE COVER: Outside 4.5 Inner 5.5. 1st appearance of the Wendigo, who fights Wolvie in His 1st appearance. The Wendigo is legendary as it is a bit of a talisman issue with powers. He tangles with the Hulk holding his own! This is the 1st double cover that I ever owned. I had only heard of them and next time I walked into the LCS (Keith's Comics) I asked if they had any. This was readily available, I knew it was only mid-grade, and in around 2017 this was a fairly cheap issue. I think for this double cover I paid $50 then the $20 to have it slabbed. Still happy and proud of the timing and ease of finding it! It makes for a story of a bit to be omitted that I was admittedly overly ecstatic about it. So much so that the Local Comic Shop Owner thought about upping the price. He didn't but I wonder how much he actually meant it, when he actually said it. Ha-ha.
Complete with back cover picture of "Book Records" of the Hulk! Records still might have been the norm this early in the 70's decade, at the release of the comic anyway, and 8-tracks were still in their hay day! I too had my share of listening to music and other stuff on the bus rides to college!
Grader Notes:
heavy, multiple crease left top of whole book;
multiple crease right bottom of front cover;
spine stress lines.

I had been to a small con in 2015, they advertised the next big comic con that would be in the following year, 2016! Headlining Stan Lee, which on 6/3/16 this and my #181 were the first ever that I submitted myself for the Signature Series Label. To have a prolific writer like Stan Lee creator of the "HULK" sign an Incredible Hulk issue that also features the 1st cameo appearance of The Wolverine, was EXCELSIOR! I didn't even know about pressing as a newbie for this issue, but it has multiple tears that I even noticed when I bought it raw. One most notably by Hulk's right arm. I knew CGC "graded comics" but didn't know what that amounted to with tears. Still, 3.5 Signed by Stan Lee was a nice addition even for this new collector way back in 2016! Some that I've heard don't mind a signature series book on a low-grade edition, and I guess that I tend to agree with that sentiment, in certain cases, but namely older books!
Complete with a back cover picture of Marvel Cards now that CGC is grading those! It wraps up the enigma that is the Wolverine known as a weapon X, and yet gives the wrong year as the first publication! Commenting here that Marvel needs to be careful when printing, it is 1974 not 1981!
Grader Notes:
light tears to cover;
moderate creasing to cover;
multiple indent front cover;
small tear top staple.

I had been to a small comic con in 2015, and they advertised there that at the next big comic con the following year would headline Stan Lee, which this and #180 were my first ever Signature Series on 6/3/16. It has writing on the back cover and is low grade, so it's a nice candidate for signature yellow label. It means so much to have a great writer such as Stan Lee to sign this book who also created the Hulk. Print to paper, this issue of Hulk has been read by me and shows the mystery of the Wolverine, friend or foe of the Hulk and/or Wendigo! It is the rumble that makes the Wolverine show up in splendor to show off his talents: busting chains, lightning quick reflexes, and wits to outsmart two mongrels! LOL, I had this pressed by the boardie Joeypost and quite some time after signature, due to what looked like crayon, went from a 2.5 to a 3.0; it just looks better now. I know he is called Mr. Patient, but that was probably just tedious to get crayon removed. It was still a yellow label before, so it wasn't considered restoration removal or anything. The writing on the back cover, however, is in pen and can't be removed as "easy!"
Complete with a back cover picture of the "POP Hulk #181 GameStop Exclusive!" With POP #24 coming in "hot" to bring in the new year 2024! Complete with the Wolverine breaking chains and in his original costume!
Grader Notes:
fade left center of front cover;
multiple crease front cover breaks color;
multiple marker/pen back cover;
stain right center of front cover.

Roy Thomas Sketched and Signed 12/17/2020, SS Len Wein 11/23/13 and Herb Trimpe on 1/29/12 I needed a copy of this signed and witnessed by these legendary creators, and which were big contributors to my collection. I almost missed my chance. Since I've got this, I've since sold a copy of this issue only signed by Len Wein but in higher grade. I have other Len Wein signature series, and I'm comfortable with this addition even at CGC 6.5. I am humble to have these signatures together, it means that I can have a piece of History. An Affordable Piece of History! Yes, I finally had one pressed, but usually only due to the in-house signings of late, as I can't be parted with my books to do it normally. Even these cameos are getting the love from collectors, which early on it was unsure just how much! CCS pressed it! Multiple dents on back are unfortunate, but given the rest of the condition, I can live!
Complete with extraction point prescreen pass before released to theaters of, "Mile 22!" Starring Mark Wahlberg that needs, much like the Wolverine in Hulk issues #180-181, to escort a high priority asset to a rendezvous point for official government business. Weapon X mentioned in these Hulk issues from the "government", espionage?
Grader Notes:
Center Back Cover Multiple Indent;
Right Bottom Front Cover Stain;
light spine stress lines to cover.

1st Quasar, randomly within the Hulk Series, this cover has the Hulk literally taking the roof off! Quasar is a character that gets some development later, but he ends up teaching reproductive interpretation's... I won a VF- raw copy of this for free from Duncanville bookstore. They run name drawn from a hat prizes, for buying from them, which is always a plus. I knew once I won, that I wanted a more presentable copy, and that cover of tearing a building (I believe the college Berkeley dorm) is astonishing in concept and delivery. For sure one of the best inspirations for a book in my collection in recent memory. It is nice to see feats of strength, and this book delivers. Always make sure to look for high grade Hulks. Yes, indeed. Good Times!! The Hulk will soon be battling the "Leader" in this run and will need his wits about him.
Complete with a back cover picture of a Marvel Card, as CGC now does those, of Hulk vs Leader because Hulk learned to lead himself from experience! "The Leader" is the arch nemesis of the Incredible Hulk, which is the next probable major plot, in #281-284.

1st Rocket Raccoon. A Newsstand. Movies, a group, a wise cracker, amd a best friend who's an adorable piece of dancing living tree. The raccoon has potential, and he's always up for the challenge, when it's in his best interest. He 1st got his start in a magazine distribution, Marvel Preview, I think. It definitely didn't stop there, though probably forgotten for the longest time. The MCU can make a hit out of anything. The comics had substance but were a flash in the pan at the time. We've got another wise cracker. If only we can get some quality solo stories. He needs a team usually. He can still deliver on his own ambitions for sure, as he is out for himself, but keeps his options open for others. I got a hat to commemorate! Guardians is the nostalgia swing, but Hulk sharing the travels with the racoon was an out of the park hit and run when the movie swung for the fences. Here is to being a kid again!
Complete with a back cover picture of a hat from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 prescreen before it hit theaters. In sharing a hash tag at the event for proof that we were there and liked it, ha! Sure, it's only an iron on of the logo on front and one of the namesakes of the movie Vol. 3 on back, but I'll take it! My Brother and his friend went with me, and we enjoyed the frivolous guy's night out!

Hulk #340 The Green-Eyed Monster Vs the Wolverine, Hulkster Hulking out against the Berserker! No this isn't a "Clerks" film, this is McFarlane art, who would parody and or homage himself to kingdom come. This is the brawler letting loose of the rearview mirror and keeping the slugfest of potential in the cover. Come ringside and don't sit on your tuffet, make those moves, but do not fool yourself. It takes time for the reader to visualize these behemoths colliding, and don't strain yourself or your eyes will bulge out. Making it a heart decision for out of it flows the issues of life! Sometimes the blindness of rage is only simmered by the exhaustion of dueling with precision to keep that edge! Three claws drawn and down the backside of what could be reminiscent of a nuclear bomb. Time has come to fight the wallet spending for this collector too! LOL.
Complete with back cover picture of the card stock of the 90's similar in attraction, the Wolverine as an animal out in the killzone! Some good has to come from those card days of collecting, I'll keep them handy!
Grader Notes:
light bends to cover;
very light creasing to cover.

Good Ole' "Professor Hulk!" Probably not the "1st that Hulk has proven himself smart!" Indeed, it is the Hulk wisdom that I was after with this issue, with a almost classic cover and issue. Like Billy the Kid said in Young Guns II, "I'll make you famous!?!" This issue's cover gets around, and much to everyone's surprise has a niche collectors' way. The Hulk now able to speak not grunt, calculate not impulse, and to keep it together with a more focused and purposed will, has us all up in arms for the possibilities of the market in media. Could you imagine the Hulk teaching morals? How about intentionally? These are the stories, and I don't write the jokes. I'm just as shocked at the ability to introduce it into the Avengers movie. Still, the possibility is there, if someone were so inclined to make something of it. A "fiddler in Georgia" could calm the Hulk? Not in this lifetime, still the Hulk smasher could be a friend for life!
Complete with a back cover picture of the big green machine as it was meant to be on the cover! Classics that got him to jump and grunt, all the while he is leaping and leaving craters. ISSUE #289, THE INCREDIBLE HULK!! Given to me as an add on in the holiday boards raffle in January 2023 by Motor City Rob boardie!

Sweet! 1st Red Hulk with a Michael Turner cover! Wizard World 2008 Edition. I got this in the 2019 Boards Holiday Raffle! From JazzMan the boardie! I'm Happy for his generosity, and the fun of the Holidays. Adding to my Michael Turner cover's is always fun. Still gearing up this year and for another raffle and looking back this was just a fun pick-up. I don't own much Turner, but they're cool, variant or not. To cap it all off while awaiting the return from CGC and the Red Hulk is coming to fruition. We may have only these books for nostalgia for a while. He's the Red Breed and he's the heat from the mean streets! We need the movies and to put some footage in the can. Roll camera, action! The muscular redness is cruising for a bruising. Hulk Mad, Angry EVEN! Red with the drive to put the emotion to the test like a blur of smashing success to come?
Complete with back cover picture of issue #2, possibly a first full, but an appearance of Red Hulk, nonetheless. Indeed, there is a person with "bomb" in their name in issue #2, who might be a character of note!
